Chapter 71: Let’s drop the drama
She could only hope that Teon’s plan actually worked, because if it failed, they were in serious trouble.
"You can’t be serious... is this supposed to be some sort of stupid joke?" Leon muttered in disbelief.
He stared at his father with a look of contempt, disgusted by the blatant absurdity of the entire performance.
Teon chuckled lightly, shaking his head with a smooth, unbothered smile as he adjusted his stance on the floor.
He looked at his son with a calm, condescending glint in his eyes and said, "A joke? What part of this seems like a joke to you, Leon? This is a happy reunion between father and s—"
Leon cut him off abruptly, shouting, "Enough!"
A chilling, suffocating aura instantly spread outward from his body, flooding the vast floor in a flash.
The temperature in the room dropped drastically, causing the surrounding guild members to gasp as the air turned thick and razor-sharp.
Even Teon found his body stiffening slightly under the sudden, massive weight of the aura. His S-rank instincts flared up in an instant, a cold shiver running down his spine as his combat senses went on high alert.
He widened his eyes slightly in shock, his mind racing as he thought, ’What? Does my mind somehow... recognize this idiot as a threat?’
For a split second, his body had instinctively prepared for a life-or-death battle against his own son.
He quickly shook his head, clearing his mind of the absurd thought as he forced his muscles to relax.
He scoffed silently at his own reflexive reaction, muttering under his breath, "No, I was just imagining it."
He refused to believe that an outcast could ever pose a genuine threat to his supreme power, brushing off the chill as nothing more than a distraction.
Leon chuckled wryly, a bitter, hollow sound escaping his lips as he looked down at the ground for a brief moment.
"What was I even expecting... I feel so stupid now." Leon muttered, a bitter expression forming on his face.
He felt foolish for having allowed even a tiny shred of curiosity or hope to delay his vengeance, realizing once and for all that these people would never change.
He gnashed his teeth violently, his jaw locking tight as he raised his arm and stretched his right hand directly towards his father.
His posture shifted into a combat stance, his feet digging firmly into the floor as he prepared to erase the mockery before him once and for all.
His fingers were clenched tightly as if he were holding the hilt of a massive sword, but there was absolutely nothing visible in his grasp.
Teon though, with his sharp, highly refined S-rank senses, could easily see the faint smoke curling in front of his son’s fist.
’So that’s it... the smoke sword I’ve been hearing about.’ he thought.
Seeing the strange smoke gave him a sudden, exhilarating surge of greed, proving that the boy had truly acquired a unique power during his year of exile.
His eyes narrowed, and his lips curled up slightly into a sinister smile as he thought, ’What more secrets are you hiding Leon, reveal them all... to me.’
He wasn’t threatened in the slightest by the weapon. Instead, he felt an intense excitement, eager to peel back every single layer of his son’s new power and claim its secrets for the benefit of his own empire.
Leon looked directly at the smiling man, his voice cold, steady, and sharp as a razor as he said, "I didn’t come here to partake in your terrible drama, I’m here to destroy this guild."
He didn’t care about their fake warm welcomes, their pathetic excuses, or the audience of players watching from the sidelines.
His entire existence at this moment was fueled by a single, unwavering goal: to burn the Roaring Lions to the ground and erase its legacy forever.
Teon immediately burst out into loud, hysterical laughter upon hearing those words, clutching his chest as if he had just heard the funniest joke of his entire life.
He threw his head back, his broad shoulders shaking violently as he took his time savoring the sheer absurdity of his son’s bold declaration.
He finally wiped a tear from his eye, looking down at Leon with a wild, condescending grin as he said, "You’re so funny Leon, really funny. You think you can take down this guild, or rather, you think you can take me down?"
Apart from him, who stood as a legendary S-rank monster, there were a couple of highly dangerous A-rank players currently stationed within Roaring Lions, all of which possessed terrifying abilities and massive combat experience of their own.
The guild wasn’t just a corporate title; it was a military fortress backed by elite squads, high-grade magical gear, and veteran combatants who had cleared countless high-level dungeons. A single individual trying to breach their stronghold was nothing short of suicidal.
Leon might have miraculously become stronger over the past few weeks, and he now undoubtedly possessed a very high potential to eventually become an S-rank player in the future, but that didn’t mean he would be able to single-handedly destroy a huge guild like Roaring Lions today.
The gap between a rising talent and a fully established global superpower was massive, requiring vast military resources, endless mana reserves, and strategic dominance that no single young swordsman could ever hope to match on his own.
The thought of it alone felt very funny to Teon, swirling in his mind as an utterly ridiculous fantasy that only an arrogant, uneducated child would dare to dream up.
He suddenly stopped laughing entirely, his booming voice cutting off in an instant as his expression flattened into a cold, menacing stare.
The fake warmth and theatrical amusement completely drained from his face, replaced by the dark, heavy aura of a ruthless guildmaster.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance, his voice dropping to a low, serious tone as he said, "Fine, let’s drop the ’drama’, it’s kinda pointless actually, tsk."
