Lin Fan and Li Zixia descended the mountain and prepared to hail a cab by the roadside when Li Zixia’s phone suddenly rang.
The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number; who could be calling at this late hour?
Li Zixia answered the phone.
"Miss Li, I think we need to inform you that Ye Tianyu is dead!" the caller said.

Li Zixia’s face changed drastically, "What happened? Who is this?"
The caller replied, "This is the Yun City police. My surname is Wang. We learned you visited Ye Tianyu earlier today. If convenient, could you come to Yun City Prison to assist in the investigation?"
Li Zixia responded, "Okay, I will come right over."
After hanging up, Li Zixia said to Lin Fan, "Brother Yu is dead. I need to go to Yun City Prison."
Lin Fan froze for a moment, then said, "I’ll go hail a cab."

Inside a cell.
Ye Tianyu lay on the ground in a bizarre posture, his head tilted, eyes wide open, a painful expression frozen on his face.
It clearly was a struggle stance, indicating that before dying, Ye Tianyu had experienced a terrifying convulsion. He had the desire to survive but couldn’t.
A police line had already been drawn outside the cell, with two officers collecting evidence inside. One of them was a pretty policewoman, Loli.
On such a late night, there was a death at Yun City Prison, and it was someone she knew, Ye Tianyu. Despite being off duty tonight, Loli ended her vacation upon hearing the news to rush over.
Since Lin Fan wasn’t around, her vacation was spent at home listening to her mother nag about marriage. Having some work seemed better.
"Captain Luo, could it be suicide?" asked the officer beside her.
Loli examined the body and said, "Unlikely. Judging by his struggle, he apparently didn’t want to die."
The officer suggested, "Then it’s murder. Judging by his state, he must have died from poisoning. Where in a prison would there be poison?"
Loli replied, "Haven’t you watched movies? Anything can exist in a prison; it’s a Jianghu with many connections. We need to investigate this further."
At this moment, an officer approached the door, saying, "Captain Luo, Officer Wang, Mr. Lin and Miss Li have arrived."
Loli was taken aback, "Mr. Lin?"

Loli walked over but, given the situation, refrained from acknowledging Lin Fan openly. Otherwise, she might have wanted to hug Lin Fan tightly.
She controlled herself and addressed Li Zixia, "You must be Miss Li Zixia. Hello, I’m Loli, an officer in Yun City."
Li Zixia was entirely unaware of Loli’s relationship with Lin Fan. She just assumed Loli was a stranger, amazed by the beautiful policewoman.
"Officer Luo, where is Ye Tianyu?" asked Li Zixia.
Loli replied, "In the cell."
Li Zixia asked, "Can I go take a look?"
Loli said, "It’s better if you don’t... and we’re still collecting evidence. Miss Li, I have a few questions for you. What time did you visit Ye Tianyu today?"
Li Zixia replied, "Around 11 in the morning, I came right after landing."
Loli asked, "What did you talk about?"
Li Zixia replied, "It’s a long story..."
Loli said, "It’s fine. I’m entirely aware of Ye Tianyu’s case. I managed his capture when he escaped prison, and I know about your relationship with him."
Li Zixia was momentarily stunned and said, "I see, so you guys..."
Li Zixia looked between Loli and Lin Fan.
Because Lin Fan had told her that when Ye Tianyu escaped, Lin Fan was the one who recaptured him and dealt with Yun Sect.
Loli glanced at Lin Fan and said, "Yes, we’re acquainted."
They were more than just acquaintances, as, in Loli’s eyes, Lin Fan was her boyfriend.
Lin Fan smiled and said, "Officer Luo invited me to help trace Ye Tianyu."
Lin Fan glanced at Loli, "I want to look at his body."
Loli replied, "Yes, go ahead. Little Chen, take him over there; we’ll be over here chatting with Miss Li."
Meanwhile, Li Zixia gave her statement to Loli, and Lin Fan, accompanied by Officer Little Chen, approached Ye Tianyu’s cell.
Officer Wang was still inside taking photographs and, upon seeing Lin Fan arrive, paused and recognized him.
"Mr. Lin, you’re here!" Officer Wang greeted enthusiastically.
Since Lin Fan helped the police force capture Ye Tianyu, his name had become widely known, especially as he was Loli’s boyfriend, enhancing his reputation further.
Lin Fan smiled and replied, "Yes."
Then Lin Fan’s eyes landed on Ye Tianyu’s body.
Lin Fan walked over, took gloves from Officer Wang, squatted down while donning the gloves, and examined Ye Tianyu’s mouth, eyes, and other parts.
Officer Wang watched from nearby and said, "He probably died from poisoning, but what kind of poison it was will need forensic testing to determine."
Lin Fan replied, "Snake venom."
Officer Wang exclaimed, "Snake venom? Did he get bitten by a snake? Where did a poisonous snake come from in prison? And I checked earlier, there was no wound."
Lin Fan said, "Not a bite. Someone extracted the toxin. It’s a neurotoxin, and look at his condition; it’s evident his nervous system was damaged, dying in extreme agony."
Officer Wang’s expression changed, "This means, he was poisoned!"
Lin Fan continued his examination, knelt down, and theorized, "He died around 10 PM; the toxin remained in his body for several hours before killing him, suggesting if he was poisoned, it happened during dinner. If someone poisoned him, it must be in his food. There aren’t any other prisoner deaths in the prison, correct?"
Officer Wang confirmed, "None."
Lin Fan concluded, "Then it’s likely someone specifically targeted him with poison. The creation of such a poison is complex, not something an average person can make. Moreover, the poison appears to be crafted using traditional methods, and if my guess is correct, the person who killed Ye Tianyu is from the Hidden Sect."
Officer Wang and Officer Little Chen stood stunned. These conclusions would normally take days of autopsy to establish, yet Lin Fan arrived at them instantly, capturing everyone’s attention.
