Wilderness (5th Zone)

Jeremy Night reached the city at night. But just as he was about to walk through the gate, he heard a bird cry. It was faint, but he heard it clearly.

He then looked around. He saw the guards, but they didn’t seem to hear it. Jeremy then thought he was too tired. He shook his head before walking through the gate.

He entered the city. He then found a cab to go back to the hotel. He decided to rest first.

20 minutes later,

The cab driver dropped him in front of the hotel. He paid the fare to the driver before going to his hotel room. Soon, he entered the room.

After shutting the door, he immediately called his parents on a video call. When the call was answered, he checked that they were fine.

They were also checking on him. To ease his parents’ worries, he told them he was fighting in the inner area against mid-tier beasts.

Hearing that, both of his parents advised him to be safe. But he was worrying about their safety in his mind. They spent an hour talking. He then ended the call.

Unknowingly, the conversation went on for an hour. But he didn’t go to sleep. He immediately called the next important person.

The person was none other than Senior Melinda. He tried to call her. The call didn’t connect for a few minutes. He was worried that they hadn’t left the wilderness.

But then she answered the call.

"Jeremy, did you come back just now?" Melinda asked.

"Yes, what about you guys?" he asked back.

"We exited the wilderness earlier. The city officials have confirmed that a Tier-9 Beast has appeared at the border," Melinda said.

Her tone was filled with worry.

"Don’t worry, the Lords from the Human Alliance might be on their way," he said to her.

"I’m hoping. Last time, five lords came to save the city. Even if one of them comes, we will be saved," Melinda replied.

"Yes," he said.

Then they spent a few minutes talking before he ended the call.

"Sigh."

A sigh escaped from his mouth. From the conversations with his parents and Senior Melinda, he found out that they were not getting any sleep at all.

Everyone seemed to be awake thinking about the Tier-9 Beast.

Jeremy understood the fact that others knew about the Tier-9 Beast as well.

If Tier-9 Beasts were that easy to kill, there would be no need for the Lords from the Human Alliance to come and save their city.

He then went to bed to sleep. But he woke up shortly after. Like the others, he was not getting any sleep. He was overthinking it.

Jeremy Night knew things were not under his control. He could only improve himself. He then closed his eyes and lay down on the bed.

...

Meanwhile,

A mid-sized plane was coursing through the sky. The speed of the plane was fast, creating massive noise.

Inside the plane were two elders. Their expressions were grim. The council meeting’s discussion had pissed them off.

"Don’t know what’s going on out there?" the bald-headed elder commented.

"To think they used the city as bait to test the results of the improved Beast Powder," the red-haired elder said from the side.

His tone contained a hint of anger.

"That person is growing stronger. So are his followers. That’s why not many in the council have the courage to stand against him," the bald-headed elder said.

"If this goes on, he will take over the council," the red-haired elder said.

"We old bones are still here. We still have a few decades. Someone strong will appear by then," the bald-headed elder said.

He sounded hopeful.

Hearing that, the red-haired elder remained silent.

They were on their way to the 5th Zone. It was rare for the elders themselves to have to go.

Usually, they sent others to solve problems. But this time, the situation was such that they didn’t trust anyone else.

The whole situation was man made. If the human population learned about it, it could lead to chaos and unrest.

After knowing the truth, they couldn’t just wait in the council.

They would reach the 5th Zone in one hour. They wanted the City Governors and Tier-8 Beast Tamers there to stall the Tier-9 Beast.

These two knew they were asking too much from the Tier-8 Beast Tamers. What worried them was the improved Beast Powder product. They didn’t know what changes it would cause to the Tier-9 Earth Lizard.

...

Border

Screeech!

A Tier-8 Golden Eagle appeared above the head of the Tier-9 Lizard in a flash. It then launched a fierce wind attack near its face to obscure its view.

Boom!

The Tier-9 Lizard Beast was enraged by the bird’s action. That was why it disliked bird-type beasts.

Tremor!

The sudden movement of its body caused a tremor on the ground. But the actions of the Tier-8 Golden Eagle were working.

The Tier-9 Earth Lizard shifted its attention from going toward the wilderness to fighting against the Golden Eagle.

Seeing that the Golden Eagle was keeping the Tier-9 Beast busy, everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

"Elder John, you made a great rescue," Head Harold said to him.

To that, John smiled and said, "Two more people are coming. I came here fast."

Hearing that, City Governor Martin and the others felt even more encouraged.

But then John said, "I think you should request help from the Human Alliance again."

Hearing that, Martin nodded his head and turned toward one of the two Governors.

The governor nodded his head and left the place.

Boom!

Then everyone looked toward the border. Head Harold called the Red Brown Bear back to his mental zone. He wanted the lifeline beast to recover.

Similarly, the City Governor recalled his Flame Lion.

Both Flame Beasts were the ones who had put up a strong fight earlier.

The Head of the Beast Taming Association and the Dean of Central University 5 looked toward each other.

They wanted answers from City Governor Martin, but he was delaying them by using the current situation.
