Chapter 695 - 442: Obliterating the White King (Part 3)
Containment Procedures: All exposed individuals must undergo memory erasure. Research is restricted to AI-simulated environments.
lb-277: Blood Ants
A swarm of semi-corporeal ants. They appear as ordinary insects when observed, but will instantly devour metal and flesh when unobserved.
Containment Procedures: Housed in a fully monitored glass enclosure. In case of power failure, liquid nitrogen is to be injected immediately.
---
T4 (Catastrophe Level)
Refers to Alien Origin Bodies that could potentially destroy civilization or rewrite Physical Laws.
Containment is extremely difficult, typically requiring multiple fail-safes. The containment process itself can even result in a large number of personnel deaths.
For example:
tz-001: Clock of Time
A rusted, grayish-white timepiece. When its hands stop moving,
the age of all humans within a 10-kilometer radius will randomly increase or decrease by 1-100 years.
Containment Procedures: A mechanical arm continuously winds it. The surrounding area is designated a restricted zone, with no human access permitted.
...
tz-027: Black Hole Egg
A black sphere approximately 3 meters in diameter. Its interior is suspected to connect to an unknown dimension. Any matter that comes into contact with it is "devoured" and vanishes.
Containment Procedures: Suspended in a quantum-locking field. The surrounding 10 kilometers are designated a restricted zone.
...
tz-999: Divine Code
A self-evolving AI program capable of altering real-world data. It once briefly transformed an entire research site into a pixelated world.
Containment Procedures: Isolated on a closed server. Analysis is permitted only via non-networked terminals.
---
T5 (Concept Level)
This is also the most bizarre type of Alien Origin Body.
If other Alien Origin Bodies can somehow be contained,
then this Level of Alien Origin Body often cannot be contained by conventional means.
Their Abilities typically involve time, causality, or reality distortion.
Such as gn-000: Archive
A document whose contents automatically rewrite in real-time to reflect the thoughts and actions of the One who reads it, including any thought of trying to destroy it.
Uncontainable. The moment you see or become aware of it, your file is generated and altered.
...
gn-004: Vacuum Whisper.
A recurring and unblockable radio signal. The One who listens will gradually come to believe that "they themselves, and even the world they inhabit, are false," eventually self-disintegrating into a pool of blood.
Current Status: The only recourse is to create interference by faking a "reverse signal" to slow the damage caused by its propagation.
...
gn-019: Spacetime Loop
This is a fixed spatio-temporal region with no physical form.
The One who enters will infinitely repeat the same period of time. Outside intervention is impossible, and escape is impossible.
Uncontainable. The only option is to seal the entrance, mark it as an "Absolute Exclusion Zone," and prohibit any living creature from approaching.
...
The types of Alien Origin Bodies are many and varied.
They can be objects or living beings.
Some of the less harmful Alien Origin Bodies can be utilized by humans to help contain other Alien Origin Bodies.
However, most of these are Level T1 to T2.
The higher the Level, the more difficult they are to use and control.
Some anomalies even possess intelligence equal to that of a human.
And now, this anomaly, codenamed lb-727, the Twelve-winged Angel Statue...
...is designated Level T3, Fission Level.
An anomaly of this degree is already extremely dangerous.
However, as members of the White Pagoda’s Cleaners...
...their duty is to eliminate and contain these Alien Origin Bodies.
The reason they do this...
...is because they are all death-row inmates. So even though they know the danger, they have no choice.
Completing missions earns them a reduced sentence. Failing to do so means immediate execution by firing squad.
Soon, the three minutes were up.
At a signal from Lev,
the other three teammates beside him, clad in tan-colored protective suits, all nodded.
...
The four of them passed through the main doors,
and entered the abandoned church.
The rotten wooden floorboards creaked softly under their boots.
The squad advanced in a wedge formation.
They held their firearms, the tactical flashlights on their muzzles cutting through the darkness.
Just as the team rounded a corner,
their flashlight beams swept across a wall.
Lev, at the front of the formation, felt his pupils suddenly contract, as if he had seen something utterly terrifying.
There,
embedded in the wall ahead,
were more than a dozen human corpses, like sculptures cast in concrete.
Strangely, wings of varying numbers had sprouted from their backs.
Some were pure white, others jet-black.
Their faces were frozen in expressions of interwoven fanaticism and agony.
It was an extremely bizarre sight.
Seeing this,
the team members felt a jolt of shock.
A situation like this, if there were no other explanation,
was caused by the influence of the Twelve-winged Angel Statue.
Fortunately, these people seemed to be completely dead.
Perhaps because of seeing these grotesque deaths,
an invisible pressure seemed to squeeze everyone’s chest as they ventured deeper into the church.
Lev could feel his heart begin to race, but he forced himself to remain calm.
’This is my seventh mission.’
’If I can just complete it...’
’...I can choose to have this part of my memory erased and be free of my identity as a Cleaner.’
’Then my sentence will be commuted, and I can return to a normal life.’
After rounding another corner and entering the main hall,
the group involuntarily came to a halt.
Their target for containment had appeared.
The long pews before them were covered in dust.
And at the far end of their sightline,
a few dim streams of light slanted in through the broken stained-glass windows, forming murky columns in the air.
Bathed in the light, in the deepest part of the main hall, upon the altar, stood a breathtakingly massive presence.
It was a five-meter-tall stone statue of an angel, standing silently. Its six pairs of wings flickered in and out of sight in the dim light.
The six wings on its left side were as black as ink, each feather seemingly capable of devouring light.
The six wings on its right were as white as snow, emitting an unnatural halo in the gloom.
