The air inside the townhouse foyer was unnervingly silent.

Zen stood with his back pressed against the front door, his eyes narrowed as he scanned the four S-Rank Goddesses standing in a perfect, impenetrable semicircle in front of him.

The D-Rank suppression ring on his finger throbbed, choking off his mana pathways while the four distinct S-Rank magical seals on the door behind him vibrated with authority.

"What is the meaning of this?" Zen asked in a low voice.

Aurelia stepped forward, her golden silk gown gliding over the marble floor. She held her chin high, her amber eyes practically glowing with serene, unified confidence.

"It is three in the morning, my Emperor," Aurelia said smoothly. "You disappeared into the night after refusing a meal and a proper recovery session. We realised that our previous lack of coordination was causing you undue mental strain."

"So," Valeria added, her crimson eyes locking onto his face as she unbuckled her broadsword harness and set it on the rack, "we fixed the variable. We formed a truce. Today is your official rest day."

"A joint rehabilitation protocol," Lyra clarified, tapping her tablet screen with her stylus. "Your physiological logs from the Grave of the Forgotten indicate severe kinetic exhaustion. If you continue to engage in field assignments without twenty-four hours of total physical and mental decompression, your suppressed core will experience irreversible mana fatigue."

Zen looked up at the second-floor railing. Nyx was dangling her legs over the ledge, spinning her stylus around her fingers while popping her cherry lollipop.

"Don’t look at me, Emperor," Nyx chuckled, her purple eyes sparkling with chaotic glee. "I’m just the referee. They signed the contract. Five-way rotation, strict shift enforcement, zero infighting. You’re on mandatory lockdown until tomorrow morning."

Zen let out a long, slow breath, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I just spent two hours walking to clear my head. I am not staying locked inside this house."

"You don’t have a choice, my Emperor," Selene whispered softly.

She stepped forward, her white silk robe flowing around her ankles as she held out a warm, damp towel.

Her silver eyes were overflowing with quiet, intense devotion. "You have spent five centuries carrying the fate of the realm on your shoulders. Just for today... let us take care of you."

Zen looked at the four of them.

When they were fighting each other, he could use their territorial rivalry to maneuver between them. But standing together, bound by a terrifyingly logical agreement, they were an unstoppable force of nature.

"Fine," Zen muttered, taking the towel from Selene to wipe the night chill from his face. "I am going to sleep. In my room. Alone."

"Of course," Aurelia smiled sweetly, bowing her head. "Your official recovery shifts do not begin until eight AM. Rest well, Emperor."

Zen didn’t say another word.

He walked past them, climbed the stairs, checked the warding on Maya’s door on the second floor, and retreated into his own bedroom, locking the door firmly behind him.

At 7:30 AM, the soft smell of freshly baked pastries and medicinal tea drifted up the second-floor hallway.

Zen woke up, his D-Rank core still feeling slightly heavy, though the two hours of sleep had restored some of his kinetic focus. He dressed in a simple black t-shirt and dark trousers before opening his bedroom door.

Maya was already up, sitting at the small dining table on the second-floor landing with her academy satchel resting beside her chair.

To Zen’s astonishment, Aurelia was standing beside Maya’s chair, personally pouring a cup of imported herbal tea into a porcelain cup for the young healer.

"Here you go, Student Maya," Aurelia said, her tone dripping with flawless, regal politeness. "This tea enhances mana retention during long academic lectures. And this is for you."

Aurelia placed a sleek, silver spatial storage ring onto the table next to Maya’s books.

Maya looked terrified, her green eyes darting between the ring and Aurelia like she was waiting for the golden gift to explode. "L-Lady Aurelia... I can’t accept this! This is a High-Tier Imperial Storage Ring!"

"Nonsense," Aurelia dismissed with a gentle wave of her manicured hand. "You are Zen’s anchor. Carrying heavy textbooks in a common leather bag is inefficient. Consider it a token of appreciation from the Crown Domain."

Selene walked over from the stairwell, holding her holy rosary. She smiled warmly at Maya, raising her hand to cast a soft, glowing green light over Maya’s shoulders.

"A light Sanctum Blessing," Selene whispered gently. "It will protect your core from mental fatigue during your alchemy practicals today."

Maya blinked, feeling the surge of refreshing holy energy wash over her. "T-Thank you, Lady Selene..."

Zen walked over, standing beside Maya. He looked at Aurelia and Selene, marrowing his eyes.

They were following his command from the night before down to the exact letter: If you want to impress me, you start by treating her with the exact same respect you treat me.

They were using weaponised compliance to gain points with him.

"Zen!" Maya said, looking up in relief as he approached. "Good morning!"

"Morning, Maya," Zen said, resting his hand on her shoulder. He looked at Aurelia. "Her transport?"

"Waiting outside," Aurelia replied smoothly. "A private Crown Domain hover-limousine with two high-tier guards. She will be safely delivered to the Ares Academy gates and picked up after her final lecture at four PM."

Maya gathered her books, putting the silver ring carefully into her pocket. "I should go. I don’t want to be late for Professor Aris’s lecture. See you later, Zen!"

"Study hard, Maya," Zen said softly.

Maya walked down the stairs, opened the front door, and stepped out into the morning sunlight toward the waiting hover-limousine.

The exact second the front door clicked shut behind her, the atmosphere in the townhouse changed violently.

SNAP.

A series of heavy, metallic thuds echoed through the walls.

Zen turned his head sharply.

From the foundation to the roof, four massive S-Rank wards locked into place at the same time.

Aurelia’s golden Imperial barrier sealed every window with solid energy.

Lyra’s spatial Aether-grid shifted the townhouse into a localized pocket dimension.

Selene’s divine Sanctum warding jammed all external communication signals, and Valeria’s Vanguard kinetic field reinforced the structure to withstand heavy artillery.

The townhouse was completely isolated from the universe.

Above them on the balcony, Nyx popped her cherry lollipop out of her mouth, grinning down at Zen.

"Shift One begins now!" Nyx declared, checking her tablet. "Eight AM to two PM! Vanguard physical conditioning and Aether mental rehabilitation! Crown Domain and Sanctum, clear the floor!"

Aurelia and Selene bowed respectfully toward Zen, stepping back into the guest wing without a single argument.

Valeria walked out of the living room, unbuttoning her cuffs while staring at Zen. Lyra stepped up beside her, carrying her tablet and a soft velvet cushion.

Zen let out a deep groan. "You four are unbelievable."

The morning shift passed with surreal, disciplined intensity.

From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Valeria took charge of Zen’s physical conditioning.

But instead of demanding a high-kinetic spar that would tear his suppressed muscles, the Vanguard Goddess guided him through stretches on the wide living room mat.

Valeria knelt behind him, her strong, warm hands resting on his shoulders as she gently aligned his shoulder blades. Her breath warmed his neck, and her crimson eyes held a quiet, fierce tenderness each time she adjusted his posture.

"Your left trapezius is tight," Valeria noted softly, her thumbs digging into the knot. "You took too much kinetic recoil during your third strike yesterday."

"I took down a D-Rank Golem under D-Rank suppression, Valeria," Zen said, exhaling slowly as her touch released the tension in his neck. "Recoil is inevitable."

"Not when I am here to carry the weight for you," Valeria growled softly, her grip lingering on his collarbone before she reluctantly stepped back as the clock struck eleven.

From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Lyra took over.

The Goddess of Aether sat beside Zen on the wide leather sofa. She didn’t lecture him on spatial matrices or demand that he solve complex equations. Instead, she placed a velvet cushion behind his head, resting her shoulder against his as she opened her tablet.

"System diagnostic active," Lyra murmured. She reached out, her cool, delicate fingers interlocking with Zen’s left hand.

A gentle pulse of purple Aether mana flowed from her palm into his core, silently scanning his mana pathways and clearing microscopic spatial blockages caused by the suppression ring.

Zen rested his head back against the cushion, closing his eyes. The quiet closeness of Lyra’s presence, combined with her rhythmic Aether pulse, was surprisingly soothing.

"Your core recovery rate has improved by fourteen percent," Lyra reported quietly, not letting go of his hand. "If this trend continues, your physiological stability will reach optimal levels by evening."

"Thanks, Lyra," Zen said softly.

Lyra’s fingers tightened slightly around his, a faint pink dusting her cheeks behind her glasses. "You are welcome, my Emperor."

At exactly 2:00 PM, a soft chime echoed through the townhouse.

Nyx’s voice boomed over the internal intercom. "Shift One complete! Shift Two begins now! Vanguard and Aether, vacate the primary lounge!"
