"So... why don’t you allow me escort you safely, Emperor? Let the others handle the chaos they are so fond of."

Zen looked at Lyra’s outstretched hand, then back to the violently sparking portal and the frantic Empress trying to salvage it.

He didn’t summon his aura. He didn’t accuse her of treason. Instead, he reached out and firmly grasped Lyra’s pale hand.

"Lead the way, Lyra," Zen said, his voice dropping to a low, icy whisper. "Let’s see exactly where this path takes us."

The moment they stepped into the Aether-gravity tunnel, the emergency alarms went silent. The transition was abrupt. Space and time folded around them, creating a pocket of shimmering purple light that cut them off from the physical world, entirely insulated by Lyra’s mana.

As they walked down the seamless corridor, Zen felt the subtle shift in the air.

It started as a faint heaviness in his limbs, a gentle, probing pressure pressing down on his Low B-Rank core. Lyra was testing him. She was actively dialing up the ambient gravity, checking the strength of his newly repaired mana pathways.

"The others are driven by their emotions," Lyra murmured, her voice echoing softly in the void. She kept her eyes on the path ahead, ignoring him as the gravitational pressure around them increased by another fraction. "Aurelia is blinded by her need for control. Valeria is a slave to her bloodlust. And Selene... Selene is hopelessly addicted to her own guilt."

She turned her head, her violet eyes locking onto him. "You don’t need to endure their chaos, Zen. Logic dictates that a recovering core requires stability. Allow me to ease your burden. Rely entirely on me, and I will carry your weight. We could remain in the Aether Domain, safe and away, while they exhaust themselves fighting the Void."

Zen didn’t struggle against the mounting gravitational pressure. He didn’t summon his Emperor’s aura to push back. He simply stopped walking.

Lyra paused a few steps ahead, turning to face him.

"You didn’t foresee the spatial degradation, Lyra," Zen stated in a perfectly calm voice, devoid of emotion. "You orchestrated it."

Lyra’s expression remained unreadable, but the gravity in the tunnel hummed with a sudden, sharp intensity.

Zen looked her dead in the eyes, casually dismantling her entire plot. "Void Beasts are feral. The probability of them naturally forming a hyper-concentrated ambush at a precise drop-point is zero. They were funneled."

He took a slow step toward her, unaffected by the heavy air. "You warped the local gravity wells along the eastern ridge of the Trench, creating a frictionless, high-velocity slide. You dumped the horde directly onto the staging ground right as we opened the gate. You knew Valeria’s instincts would force her into a blind rage. You knew Aurelia would be trapped at the terminal trying to stabilize the chaotic ley-lines. And you knew Selene would throw herself into the mud the second blood was spilled."

Zen stopped inches away from her. "You dismantled the board to get me entirely alone."

For a moment, there was silence in the purple tunnel.

If Zen had confronted Aurelia, she would have panicked and tried to justify it. If he had confronted Selene, she would have fallen to her knees in tears begging for forgiveness.

Lyra did neither.

A slow, breathtaking smile spread across the Aether Goddess’s face. Her violet eyes widened, lighting up with a feverish, intoxicating thrill.

She wasn’t ashamed of being caught; she was deeply, intellectually aroused that he had solved her equation.

"A continental-scale gravitational manipulation, executed from hundreds of miles away, and you calculated the variables in less than sixty seconds from a visual drone feed," Lyra whispered, her breath hitching slightly.

She looked at him as if he were the most magnificent, terrifying puzzle she had ever encountered. "Your mind, Emperor... it is utterly supreme."

"If you want to play cosmic chess, Lyra, we will play," Zen replied. "But I set the rules."

He leaned in until his lips were just inches from her ear. He didn’t punish her for the trap; instead, he leaned into her manipulative nature, weaponizing her obsession with his intellect.

"You want to be my primary tactician? Too late; Nyx beat you to it."

"I can do way better," she replied in the same beat.

"You want to be the logical anchor I rely on?" Zen asked softly. "Well, let’s see. You can have the position. But..." he paused, as if waiting to let it sink in. "In exchange, you are going to pay the toll."

Lyra shivered, the gravity in the tunnel momentarily fluctuating with her heartbeat. "Name it."

"The others believe I need to cultivate slowly," Zen said, stepping back to look into her dilated eyes. "They are going to watch my core like hawks, terrified of an overload. But you and I both know the math. I need to reach the A-Rank threshold immediately if we are going to survive the Trench."

Zen raised his hand, tapping a finger gently against the glowing star-woven fabric over her chest, right above her heart... where her piece of his soul resided.

"Under the guise of ’gravity training’ to fortify my physical body, you are going to secretly funnel your Aether fragment directly into my core," Zen commanded. "You are going to help me siphon your power at a highly accelerated rate, completely hiding my rapid growth from the rest of them."

Lyra stared at him, fully processing the staggering audacity of his bargain. He was asking her to willingly feed herself to him, piece by piece, right under the noses of the other Goddesses, all while maintaining the illusion that she was simply protecting him.

It was a highly dangerous, perfectly calculated game of deception.

And it was exactly what she wanted.

"An accelerated, covert extraction," Lyra breathed, her smile sharpening into something lethally devoted.

She bowed her head, submitting not to his brute strength, but to his flawless tactical superiority. "The Aether Domain accepts your terms, Emperor. We will build your core together... and the others will never see it coming."
