Half an hour later, the sound of an engine came from outside, and a Porsche Cayenne stopped, from which a potbellied, bald man with droopy ears stepped out. After getting out of the car, he didn’t rush inside but waited at the door until a middle-aged man in plain clothes arrived. In the room, Li Yifei, who was seated with closed eyes, opened them. He sensed footsteps approaching and heard a sudden commotion from the room opposite — Boss Tang had arrived, and the manager along with the security guards were all accusing Li Yifei of crimes. Seven or eight minutes later, Boss Tang, accompanied by a middle-aged man, entered Li Yifei’s room.
Glancing at Li Yifei and Lang Wenqin, Boss Tang furrowed his brows, thinking the man looked somewhat familiar but couldn’t recall where he’d seen him before. Boss Tang was the hotel’s owner; after hearing about the hotel’s situation, he didn’t rush over but handled the situation first, then came over with the police station director.
Looking at Li Yifei, Boss Tang slightly raised his head, smiling faintly as he spoke, "Are you the one who hit someone?"
Li Yifei glanced at him without responding, and the thin policeman squeezed in from behind, identifying him, "Boss Tang, it’s him. According to the statements, this person is suspected of causing trouble and also beating innocent civilians, causing very bad repercussions!"
"Well, investigating the case is your police’s job. I only have one demand: my employees can’t be beaten without reason. If those who act bravely for justice also get beaten, then there’s no light left in this world." Boss Tang stated directly, turning the matter upside down.
Lang Wenqin, who had just woken up, turned pale upon hearing this. She had thought that once at the Public Security Bureau, the matter could be handled well, but she didn’t expect someone to say such things, and the policeman was cooperating like that.
The middle-aged man beside Boss Tang nodded, saying, "You’re in charge of this case, detain these two first, I’ll give you the paperwork."
As they talked, it seemed they already defined Li Yifei and Lang Wenqin’s case, charged them without even asking the two. Seeing them turn to leave, Li Yifei spoke up, "As expected, the police in Dan City are thoroughly corrupt."
"Kid, you can eat all you want, but watch your words. I heard you’re very arrogant, but this is the Public Security Bureau, not a place for you to act out." The middle-aged man turned back on hearing this, glaring fiercely at Li Yifei.
The thin policeman, even more, pointed at Li Yifei, shouting, "You better watch it. If you dare speak nonsense again and threaten the police, I’ll lock you up in the dark cell right now."
"Your position." Li Yifei looked at the middle-aged man.
"This is our police station director, Director Mi of Qing’an police station!" The thin policeman immediately exclaimed loudly, seemingly trying to intimidate Li Yifei. Yet, the director had the impulse to kick someone; he rushed over at night to handle things, although it was due to Boss Tang, he wanted to keep it low-key, and here this guy revealed his position. Just in case...
"Alright, nothing more to say, you, and you all!" Li Yifei finished speaking and instead turned around first, slowly sitting down.
What’s that supposed to mean, what about us? The thin policeman wanted to grab Li Yifei and teach him a lesson, but recalling previous times he had knelt, hesitated for a moment, turned and said to the director, "Director, this kid is slippery; I suspect he might have a record, I’ll look into his background now."

The director and Boss Tang watched him; the director scolded, "What are you doing? Get up!"

Li Yifei calmly said, "You, yourself, fell rolling down under the stairs, and you want to blame that on me? As a policeman, you are quite shameless."
"If you didn’t scare me, how would I have rolled down?" The thin policeman retorted loudly.
"Enough, go investigate the case, you can’t even handle a minor case!" The director felt embarrassed.
"Boss Tang, is it? How much did you spend?" Li Yifei asked.
Boss Tang turned his head upon hearing this, smiled menacingly at Li Yifei, his plump face flickered with malice, said, "Kid, this is Dan City, you being an outsider, shouldn’t make trouble, or you’ll face the consequences."
"I have the facts on my side, earlier, I just thought the hotel and the Underworld were meddling together, didn’t expect even the police to be involved, it truly opened my eyes."
"Don’t speak nonsense, police and citizens are united, you’ve committed crimes, attacked innocent people, and even slandered us; it’s normal for police to arrest you, all evidence points to you, so, what, you still want to deny it?"
"Hahaha, good, a good example of police and citizen being one family!" Li Yifei laughed loudly and said, "What an eye-opener!"
Boss Tang squinted his eyes, scoffed with disdain, and said, "Ignorant of life and death."
"Let’s see which of us is truly ignorant of life and death."
Boss Tang didn’t want to continue the conversation with Li Yifei, since he was personally handling it through the director, he knew the matter was sealed. He gave Li Yifei one last glance and turned to leave.
In the corridor, Boss Tang shook the director’s hand, smiling as he thanked him, "Thanks, Director Mi, for coming over so late. Let’s have some late-night snacks before heading back."
Of course, late-night snacks weren’t just snacks—there would be more arrangements, like setting up with a beauty or something. Director Mi said, "No need to be so polite, Boss Tang already mentioned police and citizen as a family, why be polite then? Let’s do it another day, it’s too late tonight!"
"It’s not that late, at least have a meal, then I’ll have someone see Director Mi home." Boss Tang continued to invite.
"You’re too kind... still, I didn’t eat much earlier. I guess something small would be fine. With solid evidence, those two are outsiders; they can’t stir up any trouble!"
"With Director Mi’s assurance, I’m relieved." Boss Tang laughed heartily, looking extremely satisfied.
After Director Mi gave instructions, the two were just about to get in the car for ’late-night snacks’ when Mi’s phone rang. This phone was his work phone. He glanced at the number and froze; it was almost midnight, why would Director Xie be calling?
He glanced at Boss Tang, indicated he’d take the call first, and stepped out of the car.
Inside the room, Lang Wenqin was a bit flustered, said to Li Yifei, "Big brother, if they question further tomorrow, just blame it on me. I already caused you trouble, can’t do it again!" She understood this time was indeed a case of police and citizen being one family. She was initially a victim but now feared turning into the culprit. However, she couldn’t put the kind-hearted brother who helped her in trouble.
Li Yifei casually said, "No need to. It’s just a small director, remember my previous words. Even though such things rarely happen, don’t fear if unlucky enough to encounter—stand tall anywhere, you did nothing wrong."
"But..." Lang Wenqin glanced towards the door.
Li Yifei tapped the table with his fingers and heard Director Mi’s voice. Knowing the upcoming outcome, he said, "Let’s bet fifty cents, in under five minutes, those people will come begging us!"
"Ah? No... that can’t be." Lang Wenqin naturally didn’t understand the reason, hearing Li Yifei say so, she found it hard to believe.
Li Yifei smiled mysteriously, saying, "Might not even take five minutes, maybe... three minutes, hmm, maybe two!"

Originally, both were about to go for ’late-night snacks,’ but Director Mi received a call and returned urgently saying there’s trouble. The other party knows the bureau director and directly ordered him to handle the situation. Upon hearing this, Mi felt his head buzzing. That guy not only knows the City Bureau’s director but seemingly has ties, or the director wouldn’t command with such a tone, nor call directly rather than relay through others. The strict tone made Mi realize things had changed.
