Chapter 2519 - 2583: Yielding
After a few more slaps, Wang Feng spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva mixed with two broken teeth, and finally gave in, saying, "I give up, please... please stop hitting me!"
"Alright!" Li Yifei indeed stopped and looked at Wu Gang, who immediately raised his hand and shouted, "I give in too, I won’t dare anymore!"
"Since you’ve both given in, let’s discuss today’s matter." Li Yifei dragged over a chair and sat down heavily. The two who had been beaten up were like scared cicadas in winter. Wu Gang didn’t dare to show off anymore, and even Wang Feng had never met such a ruthless person. Their gang typically taunted each other before a fight, yelling and cursing, but the other party... seemed quite cultured yet directly resorted to violence, and they were exceptionally skilled.
Wang Feng was somewhat terrified inside. He looked at Li Yifei and decided to admit his mistake and give in. As for whether he could settle this score later, that would be a matter for the future. For now, he couldn’t afford to be beaten anymore.
"Today... I was wrong!"
"Not going to stay tough for a bit longer?" Li Yifei asked.
Wang Feng shook his head, pulling at the flesh on his face, causing him quite a bit of pain. After recovering, he replied unclearly, "Can’t beat you, so why act tough?"
"Hehe, tell me, what were you thinking today? A man nearing the coffin trying to make a move on a teenage girl!" Li Yifei said.
Wang Feng paused, feeling a suppressed anger but not daring to show it. Faced with Li Yifei’s sharp gaze, he could only say, "I was wrong, just lost my mind."
"And you?"
Wu Gang looked at Li Yifei with a bitter face. When questioned, his whole body trembled with fear, not even a tenth of Wang Feng. Li Yifei’s few moves had terrified him, and he stammered, "I... was wrong too."
"If I wasn’t here today, your plan would have succeeded, right?"
The two glanced at each other, not daring to answer. After a moment of silence, Wang Feng stiffened and replied, "I... I’m willing to accept punishment and can compensate Li Manli..."
"Oh, seems like you’re quite wealthy," Li Yifei said, and with those words, Wang Feng’s heart skipped a beat, thinking that today might cost him. It’s not that he didn’t want revenge; he just wanted to get through this first. Those who hung around with him clearly couldn’t come out to help, and even if they did, it probably wouldn’t matter because the man in front of him was too formidable.
Wang Feng’s eyes were somewhat evasive but couldn’t escape Li Yifei’s gaze. It was as if a mere casual glance from Li Yifei filled Wang Feng with dread, unable to muster any rebellious thoughts against such an opponent. So he quickly said, "I... I’m willing to compensate and promise not to bother her again in the future."
"Is that so?" Li Yifei asked casually.
"You... you tell me what to do," Wang Feng asked, steeling his heart.
Li Yifei didn’t answer him, instead looking at Wu Gang, asking, "What do you plan to do?"
"Ah? Me too?" Wu Gang pointed at himself, looking clueless.
Li Yifei chuckled and said, "You’re the mastermind; what, still want to escape?"
"It’s him. If he hadn’t said those things, I wouldn’t have been tempted..." Wang Feng immediately pushed the blame onto Wu Gang. Just as he was about to say more, Li Yifei gave him a look, shutting him up instantly.
"Since it was your idea, solve the problem," Li Yifei didn’t expose him.
Seeing Wang Feng’s hateful glare directed at him, Wu Gang was terrified. The young man in front of him was terrifying, but he was more afraid of Wang Feng, who even shouted, "Wu Gang, you son of a bitch, screwing me over!"
"I... I’ll accept punishment too, but I have no money, no way to compensate!" Wu Gang said with a sobbing tone.
Li Yifei frowned, thinking that such a grown man could even cry, not looking manly at all.
"You are Wang Feng, right? Today I hit you, do you submit?" Li Yifei asked.
Wang Feng thought to himself, ’Submit to your sister! Once I escape, I’ll gather a hundred people to come and cut you up, one slice per person until you’re dead.’ But out loud, he said, "I... I submit. You fight too well, and I was wrong first."
"Really?" Li Yifei said indifferently, "It’s fine if you don’t submit. In a fight, the stronger side always wins!" Even as he spoke, Li Yifei stood up, picked up a cleaver from the chopping board, the only cleaver the Wu family had. He spun it with his fingers, and the cleaver twirled in his hand. The two men opposite were so frightened they didn’t dare to breathe, their eyes wide in terror, fearing that he might swing it at them.
Li Yifei didn’t swing the cleaver at them, but with a sudden flick of his hand, a white flash zipped past, and the two men felt a gust as though something had whizzed by their ears. Startled, they immediately pulled their necks back, but only just; it wasn’t that they didn’t want to move more, but Li Yifei was simply too fast, over in the blink of an eye.
The fairly sharp cleaver seemed to slice through tofu, making a light "poof" sound. A few seconds later, the two turned their heads simultaneously to see that the brick wall of Wu Gang’s house, next to the main door, now had only a cleaver handle left in it. The large cleaver, both in size and mass, had been thrown completely into the wall, leaving just the handle visible... no, it wasn’t even the full handle, only the elliptical cross-section of the handle remained.
"..." Wang Feng and Wu Gang stared at the cleaver, their teeth chattering for a full minute before they snapped out of it like being shocked, turning back to look at Li Yifei as if he were a monster. Wu Gang was entirely ignorant of such feats, but even he knew this couldn’t be done by an ordinary person. As for Wang Feng... he had a bit more knowledge, though not by much, but that cleaver absolutely left him at a loss. Even with all their strength, ordinary people would at most leave a shallow mark; after all, it’s brick, and it’s mortared together, with dry cement in between...
If Wang Feng had any thoughts of revenge earlier, he now had no idea what to think. Li Yifei had thoroughly amazed him with that demonstration, leaving Wang Feng’s mouth moving without sound, throat dry, and heart beating faster than ever.
"If I were you, I’d show the utmost sincerity now, instead of standing there dumbfounded." Li Yifei’s voice wasn’t loud, but it struck their ears like thunder. Wang Feng quickly said, "I... I’m really sorry, sir, whatever you want me to do, I’ll do!"
"I... me too, I was wrong!" Wu Gang, with a flash of wit, immediately slapped himself, the sound crisp and loud on his face, hitting himself several times, no longer afraid of pain, just hitting himself hard.
Li Yifei watched Wu Gang but said nothing, as Wang Feng followed suit. However, since his face was already swollen like a pig’s head, the first hit made him howl in pain. Li Yifei frowned and said coldly, "Go apologize to Li Manli first."
"Okay, okay, ow... I’m going right now!" Wang Feng hurried off, practically rolling into the west room, with Wu Gang quickly following suit.
Inside, apologies could be heard. Li Manli looked a bit lost; the fierce-looking Wang Feng from just moments ago was now unrecognizable, tears and snot running as he repeatedly apologized. Similarly, Wu Gang, who usually treated her poorly, was doing the same.
"Decide for yourself whether to forgive them. If you’re still not satisfied, feel free to punish them more without worrying about future consequences," Li Yifei’s voice encouraged her. Li Manli quickly looked over, seeing her uncle smiling, feeling much more at ease. She bit her lip, thought for a moment, and said, "I forgive you!"
Even though she had suffered a lot from Wu Gang in the past, even been beaten and harassed, good-hearted Li Manli still forgave him. As for Wang Feng, seeing his pig-like face, she thought he’d been punished enough, even though she herself was injured and had been slapped.
"Thank you, thank you!" Wang Feng said quickly. Though he had more experience than Wu Gang, it was not much. A seasoned thug in a small town could only be a local menace at best, but facing someone like Li Yifei, who effortlessly threw a cleaver into a wall, revenge was out of the question. He quickly abandoned that thought!
"Li Manli forgave you!" Li Yifei finally spoke. Both of them looked at him expectantly, and he continued, "But some things cannot be forgiven so easily!"
With that, Li Yifei reached out and lightly tapped each of their chests. Wang Feng and Wu Gang immediately felt like a sledgehammer had struck their chests, forcing them back several steps before they could steady themselves. After a silent moment of assessment, they realized their chests didn’t actually ache, feeling no real change, when Li Yifei’s voice broke the silence: "For the next half year, neither of you can get angry, or your chest will hurt immensely. If you don’t believe me, try getting angry now."
"Huh?" Both Wang Feng and Wu Gang found it hard to believe. They instinctively rubbed their chests, feeling nothing, yet Li Yifei had clearly struck hard. Wang Feng didn’t dare to try, but Wu Gang mischievously thought of something infuriating, like just moments ago... then immediately felt a sharp pain in his chest, crying out as he collapsed to the floor, face pale.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I won’t dare again!" Wu Gang quickly said.
"Wait outside," Li Yifei instructed.
The two hurried out, and Li Manli felt like she was in a dream. She had been saved twice today by this kind-hearted uncle, and now he was approaching her mother, seemingly to start healing her...
"Your mother’s health isn’t great, but she can be saved," Li Yifei said directly.
"Really?" Li Manli still found it hard to believe.
Li Yifei glanced back at her, saying, "Rest assured, since I’m involved, there’s no way she won’t be healed. You’ll definitely get a healthy mother back."
