Chapter 1675: Seeing Hope
By now, everyone was already exhausted. Even Murong Hai and his team, who were battle-hardened, found it impossible to keep up with such intense activity.
If they were doing something meaningful, they might grit their teeth and persevere.
But the process of searching for an office was extremely dull, and they ended up searching through hundreds of offices. The decorations inside were almost identical; it was impossible to tell if you had been there before.
What surprised Murong was that, despite the thick dust coating every office, you couldn’t tell that these places had been abandoned for years.
Murong Hai was very curious about what was going on; everything around them seemed somewhat illogical.
Furthermore, the decorations on the 25th floor were markedly different from elsewhere.
Murong Hai had already visited the first floor before coming up. Although there weren’t so many offices on the first floor, each one had unique decorations. You could instantly discern the taste and preferences of its previous owner.
Murong Hai considered himself not lacking in aesthetic taste, but the few offices he saw on the first floor completely altered his perception.
The interiors of those offices were stunningly beautiful, and he couldn’t figure out why anyone would abandon such beautiful offices here.
And as he went higher, Murong Hai grew more suspicious.
Suspicion was everywhere in this building; even flipping open a corner would reveal deliberate renovations.
This demonstrated how much Xu Ke’s grandfather valued this building, and there had surely been a significant number of office personnel back then.
Murong Hai didn’t know if Xu Ke had noticed all of this or what kind of office Xu Ke was looking for.
"Xu Ke, why did you come here? Haven’t you noticed anything amiss here?"
Xu Ke was resting at the side, his mind entirely focused on the old office of his grandfather.
He never imagined that this office would be so difficult to find.
Yet the difficulty only fueled Xu Ke’s determination. He silently vowed that no matter how long it took or what it cost him, he would achieve his goal.
He felt the office must hide many secrets, and he had a premonition that these secrets could significantly affect his future.
Although he desperately wanted to ask his grandfather, since his grandfather insisted he find it himself, there must be a reason.
"What’s amiss? I don’t see anything," Xu Ke looked at Murong Hai with a puzzled expression.
Seeing Xu Ke like this, Murong Hai knew he hadn’t noticed anything.
"You, as the company’s president, can’t you be a little more observant? Haven’t you noticed nearly all the offices on this floor look identical? This is obviously deliberate. And when we came up from the first floor, we observed that the offices there were vibrantly colorful. The employees there must have been women, as only women would have such an eye for beauty."
Murong Hai briefly explained his findings to Xu Ke, and upon hearing them, Xu Ke also thought there must be some hidden things here.
Having searched for so many things, he had been wondering why everything looked identical, without even slight differences, seeming as if stamped from a single mold.
If it weren’t for Xu Ke’s grandfather, he would suspect he had stumbled upon a ghost.
They had been here for about five hours without making any progress.
Moreover, based on Murong Hai’s words, Xu Ke suddenly wondered if there was a pattern hidden among them or something he hadn’t discovered.
Considering his grandfather’s personality, since he could place his office on the 25th floor, it meant he didn’t want it easily found.
Wang Cuixia once said she had only visited Xu Ke’s grandfather’s office twice.
And both times were under Xu Ke’s grandfather’s direct invitation, showing how much he valued his office.
Wang Cuixia said she couldn’t clearly recall what it was like back then, as if the memory had been deliberately blurred.
Or perhaps, his mother didn’t pay attention back then, making it normal to not recall over the years.
Yet, Xu Ke began to wonder why, since the office was on the 25th floor, he would eventually find it one day.
But thinking about the tone she had then, he felt things weren’t that simple.
If the office could be found one by one, then his grandfather wouldn’t have gone to such lengths.
There was no need for such a time drain, and he must have a reason for this approach.
Xu Ke glanced around; despite many places being covered in dust, the desk was unusually clean.
It wasn’t that someone had cleaned them; rather, the material of the desks was special, repelling dust which could be blown away lightly.
Xu Ke scooped a bit of dust from the wall and lightly scattered it on the desk.
The powder slid over the surface as if touching glass, leaving almost no dust on the desk top, making it appear brand new.
This discovery shocked Xu Ke.
Realizing that these items were crafted over a decade ago by his grandfather, the advanced technique impressed Xu Ke greatly.
Simultaneously, a light bulb went off in his mind.
If even ordinary desks were made with such special materials, then other places likely had similar setups.
Despite the surroundings seeming ordinary, they weren’t ordinary at all.
Xu Ke felt some places held hidden keys, believing that perhaps the true clue wasn’t within these offices.
Perhaps the office was merely a guise, directing him to an incorrect path.
At this moment, Xu Ke was quite curious why Wang Lishan didn’t come to the 25th floor to take a look.
Xu Ke believed, with Wang Lishan’s cleverness, he would surely sense something.
