Chapter 1679: Haunted
Ever since the lights came on, Murong Hai always felt surrounded by ghosts.
He distinctly remembered that the elevators were stopped when he came up. Logically, the building’s power supply should have been shut down long ago, yet suddenly these lights turned on, making everything seem extremely eerie.
The two juniors beside Murong Hai were also terrified at this moment. Climbing this building took great courage in itself, and now with these occurrences, even if they didn’t normally believe in ghosts, they couldn’t help but believe now.
If this wasn’t haunting, then how could one explain the sudden illumination of these lights?
Murong Hai carefully examined the color of the lights and suddenly felt they were completely different from usual.
These lights resembled the old-style bulbs that illuminated many years ago.

Murong Hai was well aware this building was the Xu Group’s old building from 15 years ago. It had been vacant for years.
Yet this very fact made Murong Hai even more fearful.
After all, no one had been in this building for 15 years, but it looked as though someone occasionally cleaned it.
Moreover, the lights, which supposedly had no electricity, suddenly all came on. It’s all too bizarre.
Thinking of this, Murong Hai immediately ran towards Xu Ke without a word.

Murong Hai stumbled to the agreed location, only to find Xu Ke already waiting there for him.

But there’s power, yet the elevators are unusable; there must be a deeper meaning behind it.
Their company’s elevators were particularly special, positioned at the center of each floor.
Although Xu Ke hadn’t done it, he saw the elevators on the 5th and 25th floors.
Now, what they needed to find was the central part of this floor, which is the elevator area.
Xu Ke felt all clues pointed to the elevator; there must be something special there.
With this idea in mind, Xu Ke and Murong Hai began searching step by step.
As they walked, Xu Ke suddenly noticed something odd.
The surrounding layout was completely different from the other two directions.
Logically, animal statues shouldn’t appear in a publicly-traded company.
Moreover, they were strange and uncomfortable to look at.
But in front of them were several statues in varying forms. These statues appeared very aged, obviously more than 15 years old.
Intuition told Xu Ke that these statues were all antiques. Although he didn’t recognize some items on them, he counted carefully and found there were 12 statues.
Xu Ke recognized a few, namely the rat, the ox, and the snake.
But the statues were too abstract; without a careful look, they were difficult to identify.
Just below the statues, Xu Ke suddenly discovered a protruding area.
He gently tapped it with his finger, and the wall’s surface peeled away.
To his surprise, the protrusion was the very pattern they had been searching for.
But this pattern seemed much more exquisite than the others.
While the other patterns were ordinary crafts, this one seemed meticulously crafted.
It looked intricately carved with great attention to detail.
Xu Ke carefully removed this pattern from the wall and placed it with all the other collected patterns.
But even now, he had no clue about these patterns; he couldn’t decipher the relationships between them.
