Chapter 366 - The One Who Knows Me is Yan Qi
Gu Han was a bit surprised. “Fatty? Why are you here too?”
Although Fatty had been shouting his “identity” loud and clear, he had consumed a great deal of energy along the way, and his complexion was somewhat pale. “Nonsense! You owe me a pile of cultivation techniques and divine powers. If you die here, who am I supposed to collect from—hm?”
Suddenly, he spotted the demoness standing gracefully on Yan Qi’s back, and stared dumbfounded. “You look a bit familiar...”
The demoness smiled leisurely. “Little Fatty, you don’t remember your big sister?”
Fatty’s face turned even paler. “S-Sister Demoness!”
Feng Xi also glanced at the demoness. A heavenly phoenix’s projection flashed through her eyes, and she deduced the demoness’ identity. At the same time, waves of qi rose up in the distance. It was the Transcendent realm experts who had been relentlessly chasing Fatty. They had joined the barbarians on the scene.
Upon seeing Gu Han, they froze for a moment. Why is he also holding a sword? And he looks more like Gu Han than that fatty...
They didn’t ask any more questions. Agonizing over which one was Gu Han was pointless at this point.
The two Transcendent realm barbarians had already begun to retreat. Unless they deployed multiple peak Transcendent realm experts, they could barely hold Feng Xi off even if they gave it their all. With just the four of them, it wasn’t even close.
Feng Xi had no intention of letting them leave alive. “Junior Brother, give me a moment.”
Her red flames surged up once more, transforming into the breathtakingly beautiful heavenly phoenix. Its wings flapped once, and it charged toward the four to kill.
Gu Han could see that Feng Xi had consumed far more energy than he had. “Senior Sister, I’ll help you.”
From the border all the way to the Great Lu Mountains, the opponents she had faced were certainly not few.
In a flash, he appeared before the Transcendent realm old man and raised his sword. “Trying to wear me down?”
One strike struck the old man’s vital qi, causing it to tremble incessantly.
“Trying to kill me?”
Another strike fell, sending the old man far back. Along the way, he knocked into many barbarians who couldn’t dodge in time. Their tendons snapped and bones shattered, dying miserably on the spot.
Gu Han appeared before him again. “Trying to play tricks?”
Like a sword, his divine sense pierced into the old man’s consciousness space.
Although the old man’s cultivation was somewhat stronger than Sang Lu’s, he still couldn’t withstand this method of divine sense attack. His vital qi circulation paused briefly, allowing the sword aura to strike him head-on. He was severely injured on the spot. If Gu Han hadn’t been so drained, the blow likely would have taken his life.
At the same time, a miserable cry came through. The heavenly phoenix’s wings flapped incessantly. The red flames seemed to come alive, igniting a barbarian’s vital qi and incinerating him.
The flames didn’t dissipate even after he died. Instead, they split into hundreds of specks of flame and shot out in all directions. Any barbarian who came into contact with it was reduced to ash without even a single cry.
Despair filled the old man’s heart. “Quick! Capture them!”
At this point, the only path to survival was to seize the demoness and the others as hostages. That way, the enemy would refrain from attacking for fear of harming them, buying him a way out.
The barbarians then charged at Yan Qi again. With Gu Han away, they thought they had a good opportunity, so they gave it their all. The higher their cultivation, the faster they moved.
Having taken quite a few pills, Fatty recovered some of his strength and laughed coldly. “You really think I don’t command respect?”
His golden light flared and spread outward. In the blink of an eye, the charging barbarians all collided with that spreading golden light. Scream after scream rang out. The slower ones broke tendons and bones, while the faster ones nearly smashed themselves into a pulp.
With a flicker, Fatty landed on Yan Qi’s head. Standing with his hands behind his back, he projected the air of a lofty expert, as steady as a mountain. “My defense is second in the world! There’s no way you guys can break through it!”
While no one was looking, he secretly stuffed a few more pills into his mouth.
Yan Qi was somewhat puzzled. “May I ask. In my observation, your golden light is vast, upright, and indestructible. One could even call it the best in the world. Why do you only claim second place?”
Fatty’s eyes lit up, he felt Yan Qi knew how to play along. His tone shifted, taking on a hint of loneliness. “I call myself second because I hope that one day in the future, someone will surpass my defense so that I will no longer be alone!”
Yan Qi was filled with sincere admiration. “In my view, your breadth of vision and magnanimity are worthy of being called first!”
He thought Fatty was very impressive, even more so than Gu Han. Not to mention anything else, just in terms of sheer substance, he far surpassed Gu Han.
Fatty laughed heartily. “You’re too kind, Fellow Daoist... Wait, you can talk?”
It was understandable that Fatty had only realized it now. Yan Qi’s tone, choice of words, and scholarly demeanor hardly matched that of a demonic beast that hadn’t taken human form. If anything, he was the spitting image of a cultivator dripping with bookishness.
A demoness, two barbarians, and this demonic beast who hadn’t transformed yet spoke even more fluently than a human. For a moment, he was a bit dumbfounded.
Yan Qi exhaled deeply, sorrow filling his voice. “You may not know this, but my name is Yan Qi—”
Just as he was about to recount the bitter history of the Yan Clan, several miserable cries interrupted him.
A flash of sword aura passed by in the distance. The old man’s head flew high into the air as his body rapidly fell. Red flames ignited the two other barbarians’ vital qi, quickly burning them into two piles of ash.
Finally, Gu Han and Feng Xi returned.
Gu Han raised his sword horizontally, quietly watching the barbarians blocking his path. “Move aside!”
The lead barbarian’s face twisted with hatred. “The hall master won’t let you get away with—”
Then, he saw a flash. The sword aura struck again, slicing him and the several people behind him into pieces.
Gu Han said again, “Move aside.”
Hesitation flickered in the barbarians’ eyes, but they still didn’t move aside. Suddenly, a speck of red flame landed in the crowd and exploded. At the same time, Gu Han’s sword aura swept over once more.
Fatty roared in fury, “Get out of my way!”
He charged straight ahead, enveloped in endless golden light. Wherever he passed, the barbarians either turned to bloody pulp or blood mist.
Yan Qi watched, completely spellbound. “There’s no enemy the Heaven-Conquering Prince can’t defeat!”
Fatty laughed heartily. “Yan Qi knows me well!”
Gu Han sighed softly to himself. “Yan Qi, keep up.”
"Right, right!"
The three forcibly carved out a path ahead. Two possessed supreme killing power, while one possessed peerless defense. The three were invincible together. Unless a Saint realm expert came personally, no one could stop their advance.
As time passed, some of the barbarians that blocked the way retreated, while some did not. Those who retreated saved their lives, while those who didn’t would never have the chance to retreat again.
Soon, the group felt their field of vision widen. Before they knew it, they had left the Great Lu Mountains. There wasn’t a single barbarian left who dared to block their way.
As he glanced back, Yan Qi was overwhelmed by a myriad of emotions. Farewell, the homeland that bore and raised me!
