Chapter 539 - Two Against One, You Still Have the Numbers
Since the start, Gu Han did not give anyone any time to react. Seeing that his Mortal World Intent had caught them off guard, he flickered, abruptly redirecting his sword swing toward Elder Zhang. As he moved, the scattered strands of sword qi converged, streaming into his sword one after another. Everyone could see his demeanor becoming increasingly ordinary
Elder Zhang’s eyes twitched. “What sword technique is this?”
Right then, the Hehuan Sect Master’s anxious voice rang out. “Fellow Daoist, be careful!”
She knew this sword well. If Ah Gou hadn’t saved her back then, she would’ve most likely died from it. Gu Han was also severely injured at the time. Now that he was fully healed and his cultivation had soared, the sword’s might far surpassed before. She understood better than anyone just how terrifying this seemingly ordinary sword truly was.
Gu Han moved with blinding speed, arriving ten zhang from Elder Zhang. The elder’s aura surged to its peak. Having clawed his way up from the very bottom, he knew better than anyone that a single moment of carelessness could cost him everything.
Endless green light cascaded down, transforming into a colossal hand that came smashing down toward Gu Han. However, he still misjudged Gu Han’s strength. Gu Han pierced straight through the hand. It trembled for an instant before dispersing outright.
Elder Zhang’s heart lurched and he retreated again. “Everyone, quick, get—”
Something slammed into him from behind, sending him stumbling forward several chi.
Chongming’s voice came from behind him. “That’s what you get for slapping me! We’re even!”
While everyone’s attention was fixed on Gu Han, Chongming had burrowed out from the earth, deliberately blocking Elder Zhang’s escape route. Sword light flashed, and a shallow sword mark appeared between Elder Zhang’s brows.
In his final moments, the same thought that had crossed the Yinshan Old Ancestor’s mind crossed his as well. Why couldn’t I just sit still? Why’d I have to go and provoke that rooster?
Then, his consciousness extinguished, and his corpse fell.
Elder Zhang is dead? A cultivator at the sixth stage of the Feather Transformation realm is dead?
For a moment, everyone froze. They had arrived brimming with confidence, intending to surround and kill Gu Han, only for their strongest fighter to die after a single exchange. Worse, the battle had just started. The death of Elder Zhang shook everyone the most.
Gu Han’s heart remained utterly calm. Sixth stage of the Feather Transformation realm?
Compared to Yun Tu, Elder Zhang’s strength was way far inferior. Even without Chongming’s interference, he would have surely cleaved the man down.
Right then, the one hundred and eight strands of Great Evolution Sword Qi descended once more. They trembled for an instant before scattering toward the remaining Saint realm cultivators. Meanwhile, Gu Han already had his sword aimed at the middle-aged cultivator’s brow.
With his attention divided, a few more Saint realm cultivators fell to Gu Han’s sword in the span of a breath.
The middle-aged cultivator’s eyes turned bloodshot. “Fight to the death! If we don’t go all out now, we’ll all die here. This brat is no ordinary Saint realm cultivator!”
By now, even the Hehuan Sect Master and that young man had forgotten about Chongming. It turned out they had severely underestimated Gu Han’s strength! Their earlier confidence vanished. They could only stake everything on one final gamble. If they won, all would be well. If they lost, Gu Han would be hosting a feast right then and there.
In the next moment, a black stone stele, a pink female visage, and a profound hundred-zhang rune all came crashing down upon Gu Han!
Feeling it wasn’t enough, the Hehuan Sect Master called out anxiously, “Ah Gou, quick! Help us! Trap him!”
Since the battle began, Ah Gou had stood silently in place as if the battle had nothing to do with him. But now, he transformed into a shadow.
Chongming was furious. “Fuck! You heartless little dog!”
He flapped his wings and charged straight toward the shadow. "If you’ve got the guts, come at me!”
Gu Han suddenly felt himself stiffen, that controlled sensation assailing him once more. He lost some of his advantage. The crowd’s techniques engulfed him, sending him plummeting straight down. The earth shook, dust flew, and the rumbling took a long while to fade.
The middle-aged man stared at the ground below while frowning slightly. “Is he dead? He took our—”
A cold light came streaking toward him, carrying boundless red killing intent, arriving before his brow.
No way! How did he get even stronger?!
Just as that question arose in his mind, a cold light flashed past his brow, ending his life. At the same time, Gu Han abruptly burst from the smoke and dust, arriving before another cultivator. The distance between them was only three chi. His aura was disordered, his face somewhat pale, yet the killing intent in his eyes was fiercer than ever.
His right hand reached out, and a cold light descended. It was a black sword!
“Die!”
With a fierce shout, the sword trembled as a ten-zhang-long red sword aura condensed, smashing down with tremendous force. Before that cultivator could even react, he had been cleaved in two. Gu Han swayed slightly as a trickle of blood leaked from the corner of his mouth. Having taken the full-force blow of everyone there, he hadn’t escaped unscathed.
The Feather Transformation realm cultivator closest to him paused for a moment, overjoyed. “He’s hurt! What an opportunity!”
Gu Han ignored him. He glanced down at Chongming, who was still locked in a tussle with Ah Gou, cursing up a storm. His eyes narrowed slightly, the killing intent in his heart rising. He then took out a half-saint herb and consumed it. Even though it didn’t contain the law fragments found in a saint herb, it still held an immensely strong life essence. In just a breath or two, his injuries were mostly healed.
His form flickered as his sword came down with tremendous force. As if drawn by something, the scattered strands of Great Evolution Sword Qi flowed into the sword’s body. The black sword, originally only a few chi long, extended to over ten zhang.
The cultivator’s eyes brimmed with deep unwillingness. “How dishonorable!”
The sword struck him. His body, along with his technique’s massive stele, shattered apart. Gu Han understood his gaze. The man likely wanted to pop a pill as well. Unfortunately, he wasn’t fast enough! If even a Feather Transformation cultivator was no match for him, then how could a Saint realm cultivator possibly be?
As Gu Han flashed about, he cut down the last remaining Saint realm cultivators on the field. Along the way, he collected their storage rings one by one. He always remembered what Chen Qing had said. Only after the person was dead did picking up their storage ring count as scavenging. As a scavenger, how could Gu Han abandon the most basic code of conduct?
By now, only the young man and the Hehuan Sect Master remained.
Chongming chased after Ah Gou, trading blows back and forth. “Little dog, I’ll beat you to death! You ungrateful wretch!”
They fought to a draw. The commotion was comparable to two Transcendent realm cultivators going at it. Both of them were heavily wounded. One rooster and one dog, creating quite the spectacle of clucking and barking.
A flicker of mockery passed through Gu Han’s eyes. Clearly, after Ah Gou’s assassination attempt against him had failed, he’d gone back and received no healing pills at all. Ah Gou remained largely unrecovered. Otherwise, no matter how much Gu Han had improved, he would have been controlled for far longer than just half a breath.
Gu Han’s gaze shifted, landing on the young man and the Hehuan Sect Master. “Now, it’s your turn.”
They went pale.
He consoled them, “Don’t panic. It’s two against one now. You’ve still got the numbers.”
The young man was speechless.
