"It would be better for Young Madam to lie down first while this servant calls for the physician to examine you once more."

Qing’er’s expression remained filled with concern as she carefully guided Wang Gege back toward the room.

The memory had only lasted a few moments, yet it had frightened the maid considerably. From her perspective, Wang Gege had suddenly gone pale and remained standing in place without responding for quite some time.

Naturally, she assumed the lingering poison was acting up again.

The moment she sat down on the edge of the bed, she finally realized that she had unintentionally created a problem for herself.

A physician.

The word immediately made her feel nervous. After all, she was not suffering from any illness. She was suffering from transmigration and she doubted any physician in the world would be capable of diagnosing that.

Before Qing’er could leave, Wang Gege quickly reached out and grabbed her sleeve. "Wait."

Qing’er immediately stopped. "Young Madam?"

Wang Gege hesitated. How was she supposed to explain that the headache she had pretended to have had somehow become real halfway through?

The more she thought about it, the more ridiculous it sounded.

After a brief silence, she finally said, "I feel much better now."

Qing’er clearly did not believe her, "Young Madam’s face was pale just moments ago."

"That was probably because I stood under the sun for too long..." Wang Gege paused briefly before another possibility suddenly occurred to her. "And perhaps because I am hungry."

The words had barely left her mouth when Qing’er’s expression changed dramatically.

Before Wang Gege could react, the maid immediately dropped to her knees.

"This servant deserves punishment."

The sudden movement startled Wang Gege. "Why are you kneeling again?"

Qing’er lowered her head even further, guilt evident in her voice.

"This servant was so focused on Young Madam’s condition that I completely forgot Young Madam has not eaten anything since yesterday."

Only then did Wang Gege realize something. Since arriving in this world, she had not eaten a single proper meal. The realization felt somewhat absurd.

From the moment she opened her eyes, she had been busy trying not to die. First came the poison, then the confusion of waking up in a stranger’s body, followed by the endless stream of unfamiliar people, strange customs, and unexpected situations.

Somehow, amidst all that chaos, food had become the least important thing on her mind.

"I really haven’t eaten anything since then..." The words slipped out unconsciously.

The moment the words left her mouth, her stomach immediately chose to support her statement. A faint growl echoed through the room.

The atmosphere instantly became awkward.

Qing’er’s expression turned even paler than before. Without waiting for further instructions, she quickly stood up, "This servant will immediately have food prepared."

Wang Gege’s eyes brightened, "Wait."

Qing’er stopped. For some reason, the sudden enthusiasm in her Young Madam’s voice made her slightly nervous.

Wang Gege sat up a little straighter, "What can the kitchen make?"

Qing’er blinked. Although the question was not unusual, she had not expected it at this moment.

"The kitchen can prepare whatever Young Madam wishes."

The answer instantly lifted Wang Gege’s spirits. She could finally feel the benefits of being the Young Madam of a wealthy household.

Unfortunately, before she could start imagining a feast, Qing’er continued, "However, the physician instructed that Young Madam should avoid heavy food while recovering."

Wang Gege’s smile immediately weakened.

Qing’er, completely unaware of her mistress’s disappointment, continued earnestly, "This servant will have the kitchen prepare lotus seed porridge and chicken soup. They are easier on the stomach."

Wang Gege remained silent for a moment before asking hopefully, "There will be chicken in the chicken soup, right?"

Qing’er nodded innocently. Unable to understand the deeper meaning behind the question, she answered honestly, "There will be a few pieces."

Wang Gege’s expression immediately became complicated.

’A few pieces? Seriously?’

She slowly lifted her head and stared at the canopy above her bed as though searching for answers from the heavens.

’At this point, perhaps I should transmigrate into an alien world instead. They would probably offer me an entire dinosaur to roast. After all, chickens are descendants of dinosaurs, so technically it would just be a very large chicken.’

Unfortunately, neither the heavens nor the aliens answered her call.

By the time the food finally arrived, Wang Gege had already convinced herself that even the plainest porridge in the world would taste delicious.

Fortunately, the Xie residence did not disappoint.

The lotus seed porridge was fragrant and warm, while the chicken soup carried a rich aroma that immediately lifted her spirits. Although Qing’er had claimed there would only be a few pieces of chicken, Wang Gege ultimately decided not to hold a grudge against the innocent bird.

Food was food. More importantly, it was edible. That alone was enough.

"Aaaah..."

Wang Gege settled comfortably into her seat with a satisfied expression before carefully placing the empty bowl onto the stack beside her.

The room fell silent.

Qing’er’s gaze slowly shifted toward the table before changing it to the neatly stacked bowls. Her eyes then slowly came back to Wang Gege. She simply stared as trying to understand what was just happening.

Five bowls.

Young Madam had eaten five bowls. Qing’er looked at Wang Gege once again.

"Does Young Madam wish for more?"

The question was delivered cautiously. All the times she was by Shen Taotao’s side, she had never seen her eat this much before.

Meanwhile, Wang Gege instinctively opened her mouth.

"Yes."

The answer almost escaped immediately. Luckily, the tiny remaining fragment of her dignity managed to stop it halfway. She coughed lightly and straightened her posture.

"No. I mean that were enough."

Qing’er looked visibly relieved. After all, five bowls were already enough to make her question whether the poison had somehow altered her young madam’s appetite.

Just as the room settled into a comfortable silence, hurried footsteps suddenly echoed from outside.

Both women turned toward the door.

Moments later, another maid appeared at the entrance.

Unlike Qing’er, the usually calm maid looked unusually anxious.

"Young Madam." She quickly bowed. "Young Master Xie has returned."

Wang Gege immediately froze. The satisfaction from five bowls of porridge disappeared without a trace.

Her gaze slowly drifted toward the doorway before her eyes dimmed in dissatisfaction.

"Where is all that ’stay out of my affairs and I’ll stay out of yours’ energy from earlier?" she muttered under her breath.

"Tch—"

Unfortunately, the heavens did not seem to be on her side.

She could not even finish clicking her tongue before a tall figure appeared at the entrance, blocking a portion of the sunlight from outside.

Wang Gege immediately recognized him.

The Tall Ancient Ninja Turtle had returned.
