The broken porcelain struck.

Wang Gege instinctively closed her eyes. A sharp sting tore across the side of her neck.

For a moment, she felt nothing, but a few seconds later, she felt the warmth. Blood slowly trickled beneath her collar.

"Furen!" Xie Rong’s voice shattered through the hall.

He moved so quickly that nobody even saw when he crossed the distance between them.

His hand caught Wang Gege’s shoulder, pulling her away from Xie An’an and immediately shielding her behind him.

"Where? Where does it hurt?" Xie Rong’s eyes went straight to her neck.

Wang Gege touched her neck. Her fingers came away red.

The moment Xie Rong saw the blood, something in his expression changed. His entire body went rigid.

Then his voice exploded through the hall.

"Xie An’an!"

Everyone froze.

"How dare you!" His voice was filled with a fury none of them had ever heard from him before.

Xie An’an stumbled backward, her face turning pale. "Brother, this one—"

"If something happens to my wife, you will answer for it!"

Xie An’an’s lips trembled, but she did not dare argue back.

Xie Rong had never hidden whose side he stood on.

What shocked her was not that he blamed her. It was the sheer rage in his voice. He had never looked this furious over anything she had done before.

"Physician!" Xie Rong suddenly shouted toward the servants. "Where is the physician?!"

"Young Master, this servant has already sent someone—"

"Then send another!" His voice shook the entire hall. "Tell him to come here immediately!"

Wang Gege stared at him, momentarily stunned by how completely he had lost his usual composure. "I’m fine..."

"You’re bleeding." Xie Rong’s voice dropped as he turned toward her, his fingers pressing on the wound to slow down the bleeding.

"How can you say you’re fine when you’re bleeding?"

Wang Gege wanted to answer him, but before she could, a familiar system notification suddenly rang inside her head.

[MISSION COMPLETE.]

[Mission Reward: 1000 Fortune Points.]

[Additional Reward: Random Reward ×1.]

Wang Gege weakly chuckled, though the sound came out barely audible. "Looks like... I really did complete it..."

Xie Rong’s fingers pressed more firmly against the wound. "What are you talking about?"

She blinked slowly, trying to keep her eyes open, but her vision was beginning to blur.

"Nothing..." Her voice became softer.

The strength seemed to drain from her body all at once, and she unconsciously leaned toward him.

Xie Rong immediately caught her. "Furen?"

Wang Gege’s eyelids grew heavier.

"Why are you suddenly..." He tightened his hold around her, his voice filled with panic. "Stay awake."

She tried to answer, but the words became difficult to form. "I... I’m just..." Her head slowly tilted against his chest, "a little tired."

"Furen!"

The moment her body went limp against him, Xie Rong’s expression completely changed.

"Physician!" His roar echoed through the main hall. "Where is the physician?!"

The servants immediately scattered in panic.

Xie Rong lowered his head, pressing his fingers carefully against her neck while his other arm held her tightly against him.

"Don’t close your eyes." His voice trembled. "You can hate me later. You can yell at me, refuse to speak to me, whatever you want..." He swallowed hard. "Just don’t close your eyes now."

But eventually, Wang Gege’s eyes closed.

Panic and fear instantly overtook Xie Rong.

"Gemi! Gemi! Give me anything from the storage that I can use!"

Everyone in the main hall looked at the Young Master in confusion, unable to understand who he was talking to.

Mo Yan immediately rushed to his side and lowered his voice.

"Young Master, tell me which storage you mean. I will go and fetch it for you..."

"No—no!" Xie Rong shook his head violently. Realizing that he had almost lost control in front of everyone, he forced himself to take a deep breath and closed his eyes.

’Gemi... help me...’

He finally calmed himself enough to call for the system inwardly.

For a brief moment, there was only silence.

Then Gemi’s familiar voice sounded inside his mind.

[This System does not possess anything that can treat a life-threatening injury.]

Xie Rong’s breathing stopped.

’Then give me something else!’

[Host, please remain calm.]

’How can I remain calm?! She’s bleeding and unconscious!’

His hand tightened around Wang Gege’s body.

’There has to be something in the storage. Something I gained as rewards. A healing medicine, a potion, anything!’

[This System has checked your storage. None of the items left are capable of restoring severe physical injuries.]

Xie Rong’s face turned pale.

For the first time, the existence of his system, which had always given him something to rely on whenever he encountered an impossible situation, felt completely useless.

’Then what am I supposed to do?’

[This System suggests seeking medical treatment immediately.]

Xie Rong opened his eyes.

"The physician!" He looked toward the servants, his voice almost breaking. "Why hasn’t the physician arrived yet?!"

Before anyone could answer, Qing’er suddenly stepped forward.

"Young Miss Xie! You cannot go anywhere!"

Xie An’an, who had been slowly moving toward the entrance, immediately stopped and turned around.

"Who are you to stop me?!" Her voice was sharp with anger. "Get out of my way!"

Qing’er stood her ground despite the fear visible on her face. "Young Miss, Young Madam has been injured because of you. You cannot simply leave before the matter has been settled!"

"Because of me?" Xie An’an’s eyes widened in disbelief. "This one already said it was an accident!"

She looked toward Master Xie and Old Madam Xie as though expecting them to immediately defend her but neither of them spoke.

They had been silent ever since the broken porcelain had cut Wang Gege.

The sight of blood had apparently shaken even them into silence.

"Father!" Xie An’an called out impatiently, "Grandmother!"

Old Madam Xie’s fingers tightened around her cane. For several moments, she remained silent before finally speaking.

"An’an..." Her voice was heavy. "You cannot leave."

Xie An’an’s expression froze. "Grandmother?"

"Until this matter is settled, no one is allowed to leave this residence without permission." Master Xie finally spoke as well, his expression grim. "Especially you."

Xie An’an stared at them in disbelief, "Father, even you..."

Master Xie closed his eyes briefly before opening them again.

"You attacked your sister-in-law in front of everyone. Whether you intended to hurt her or not, this matter can no longer be dismissed as a simple misunderstanding."
