Sword of the Philosopher

A strange life.

So me and Richard head north with Redo to a town called Marchesta.

I wish my magic analysis could be done right there...... it was about a day in distance or so, and it wasn't that far away.

I left and arrived before noon the next day. In a big town there, Redo's lab was apparently a public agency in the country.

"I haven't heard from Mr. Rona in detail, but does having a lab mean you can be a great person?

"No, it's just that there's my personal space in the corner of the joint lab."

Still feels amazing...... inside it's like a hospital building, and what got me through the long hallway was a cluttered lab scattered with materials and appliances.

"Not very clean."

And, Richard. And Redo laughs bitterly.

"It's a magic study, so it doesn't really matter if it's dirty... although it sure should be beautiful"

Proceeding to the back, there is one chair. There's just a leather belt wrapped around the elbow on the right side of it, plus some equipment behind it that I'm not sure about.

"Uh, this is a magic device that we produced. To be specific, it is more seated to perform the analysis, conveying magic to the device behind it via a leather belt. So, we're going to quantify the magic that we detected."

Well, do you have a device like this... I've never visited an academia or anything on the Sherzia continent, so I've never seen it before, but maybe there's a device like this over there.

Well, I follow Ledo's instructions and when I sit in the chair, I wrap my leather belt around my arm and pour magic. I thought nothing would change but... there was some kind of light emitting behind it.

"Oh, keep it up, please"

Ledo goes around behind his back and starts to go crazy. So, is Richard interested in standing next to him and watching Ledo work.

I keep my magic on as instructed...... about three minutes? "That's enough," said Redo, "this one out of strength.

"Do you get results soon?

"Yes, please wait for more details"

From there I start making some notes with the paper and pen to my hand. I sat in my chair and stood still... eventually,

"Eh, I came out as a number for once..."

"Can I get you anything?

"Even so, you don't know just the numbers, do you?"

Even so, he offered me a piece of paper. Confirming that, there is a line of unrecognizable words and a number of numbers.

"Please wait while I explain"

Redo starts cleaning up on the table that was nearby. We got another chair for three, and he said, "Here."

Moving over there, he began his commentary.

"Eh, this device shows what form the components of magic take. Mr. Leon was the bearer of magic that could not be verified by crystals, but using this device produced no problems."

To put it that far, he set aside once.

"The magic power of a person, when summed up, exists ten components. This differs from person to person in composition so that the appearance and the like are each different. It's rare that even twins are the same."

Stated, he runs a pen on paper. What I started drawing was something like a bar chart.

"I will skip the details of each component… for example, in some cases all ten species are present in a good balance, while in others the pattern is that one or two are not included at all. But it doesn't mean that there's a big difference between magic and moves, so if you don't analyze it, you don't know the difference."

"You say you don't usually have a problem with magic or using moves?

"Yep. Even with different magic configurations, they seem to be unconsciously converting to allow users to handle magic, moves, etc., without any problems. Its mechanisms and so on have not yet been elucidated…"

"Really? So, what kind of component am I in?

When asked, he moves the pen further. Apparently my numbers are written on a bar chart... nine of the ten species are the same length, but only one is more than double the length.

"Mr. Leon has all the components above average, but one of them, you have something that stands out."

"Outstanding?"

"Yes, the ten kinds I mentioned earlier depend very much on what kind of magic influenced them, to put it simply."

Me tilting my neck. Redo continues with a grin.

"The components of magic change dramatically between those living in urban areas and those living in rural areas. Magic resides in all things, even in the town in artifacts, and in the countryside in grass and animals. It is susceptible to what you are dealing with… However, the components themselves are roughly determined when you are in a basic mother or when you are a little girl, so there doesn't seem to be much of a sudden change as an adult"

"Mr. Redo writes that this represents what was strongly influenced by?

"Yes," replied Redo to my question.

"Mr. Luon is all relatively affected, but like I said, there is only one thing that stands out. But this is the most mysterious of the ten components."

... Hmmm, the stranger I hear.

"Mystery, what do you mean?

Richard asks the question. Redo turned his face to him,

"We have concluded by a law based on vast amounts of data as to what the ten influences are. I could tell up to nine things, but only one of them is a hypothesis, because there is no legality."

"You think that value is high, Mr. Luon?

"Yes, it's a higher number than I've ever seen myself"

... Mm-hmm, I also feel like we're going in some bad direction. Can you take care of that?

"What do you know about that mysterious value?

Richard asks further. Redo often thought,

"That equals nothing in common...... ah, but looking at those people in the past, there have been odd facts"

"Strange?"

"Yes. A lot of people have a much stranger life...... they have encountered a variety of events. That said, we don't have anything in common about what happened."

A strange life, hey...... Richard asked further, wondering how he interpreted it.

"What is it about that event?

"Ah, uh. For example, he was a child of a nobleman caught up in a political conflict and abandoned, or that was the wizard who had grown up all over the world since he was a little girl... oh, some people were funny."

and Redo slapped his hand with a pong,

"You remembered the last life."

... Huh?

"The person's previous life was a famous knight on this continent... but when I investigated him because he had a record, he also spoke in detail about unpublished facts, such as when he was born and when he became a knight, and you concluded that he was reincarnated as true or false"

... No, no, no way.

I reincarnated myself, but what Redo is talking about is a reincarnation from someone in this world, not in the same shape as I am. But, well, if they say it's a strange fate, yeah?

Richard asks Ledo even more without changing his face.

"... could you measure my magic?

In response to that inquiry, Redo replied "I don't mind" - apparently Richard guessed something... but I decided to keep an eye on their trends.
