Sword of the Philosopher

What the Demon King needs.

Amel decided to stay in the castle until she had an answer as to what Croix would do. Thanks to this, the demons are very temperamental. He's a candidate for the Demon King. Suddenly I got busy and I felt a little sympathy for the demons.

Amel didn't seem to be particularly concerned about the handling, so she rented a small room and sat down until she heard Croix's answer. So, in the meantime, me and Sophia...

"This is how I wanted to talk to you once"

One of her rooms. So me and Sophia were supposed to talk to Amel across the street.

"The battle against the Demon King must have been fierce… I want to know once and for all what the Demon King is."

"... I was the head of the demonic world, don't you have much information or something?

"In the first place, I didn't really get involved. The territory was on the edge, and you wouldn't have recognized me very much over there."

"But you're strong enough to be a Demon King candidate in this uprising, aren't you?"

Sophia opens her mouth and asks.

"Is that the power the Demon King gained after his demise?

"Right. The battle to be the Demon King began... at which point I liked to wave my weapon and it was pleasant to get stronger every time I fought"

Talking funny Amel...... in a way he's probably the most grown up in the battle to choose this demon king.

"I was just fighting, but it turned out to be a big force... and I'm satisfied because my life isn't so bad right now, and most importantly, I can fight it"

"... somehow you don't seem to have the strong will to be the Demon King when I listen to you"

"Right. I wish I could fight."

Amel laughs as she tells her.

"But, well, I don't want to let go of the power I've got, and I don't want to die, so I'm gonna do everything I can."

"... after we discuss Bizell in this fight, we fight Mr. Croix, right?

"I'm sure we'll meet, but I doubt that life or death will actually be involved."

Squeeze your shoulders. What's this all about?

"As for him, you want a competent subordinate or buddy. I recognize myself as a combat fool, but ambition is weak. So don't even think about subjugating me and putting me under control."

Yeah, Croix would do it...... he got enough power in the fight against Widels, and yet Amel doesn't seem to have any idea how to fall asleep considering it from previous explanations. So I'm a Demon King candidate, but I don't destroy it and add it to my allies - I'm definitely an ant.

"But is that acceptable?

"You don't have to imitate smashing all the other people who are candidates for the Demon King. In fact, El Asus is a trustworthy compatriot. Ultimately, the Demon King needs to have the right strength and support later... defeating the Demon King candidate is not an absolute rule."

So Amel laughed niggardly,

"But if you've been invaded, for example, you need to respond with the right attitude… even if you're not willing to fight. In other words, the Demon King candidate is resolute, but sometimes the same demon king candidate needs to be tolerated."

It's not all about fighting...... in Croix's case, you mean that Widels invaded first and foremost, so he was compelled to fight as necessary, and the Demon King also took the power he needed from him and took it in his hands?

"... in order to be Demon King, you have to act at least as recognized by others,"

The next speaker was Sofia. And Amel nodded.

"Oh, that's the thing. Croix said it was an ambush against Bizel... well that's acceptable. Knowledge is also needed by the Demon King. Nevertheless, methods such as, for example, slaughtering the inhabitants of Bizel to reduce the power of the territory held by Bizel... may be right as an army, but that would be a different story if the inhabitants under Croix were to be convinced?

"That's true. We can't hold hands with those who do that, either."

"I guess. Croix has the oddity of joining hands with you, but with the exception of that, he has the honorable credentials. Perhaps the demon kingdom will be richer than I am."

"... there's a sense that it won't work that way."

"Yeah."

Amel nodded honestly to my point.

"Assuming I were to rule the western strip, I'd sign up for a duel with Eluaz and compete, then I'd dawn the territory. So the battle between the Demon King candidates is over."

"Win or lose, huh?

"Oh. I've talked to Eluaz, but he didn't have such a bad impression of me, so I'll probably let him live and run the territory or something. If I win the duel, I might come to the conclusion that I'm a little unreliable for Eluaz to be the Demon King... but if it were him, I'd do something about it."

That's a lot of texto. But if you look back at Eluas, who confronted Croix, it's likely that even if there is a problem, it will be resolved quickly.

"I think Croix does qualify as a celebrity."

Sophia opens her mouth here.

"But that's the same for El Asu..."

"If you're going to say it at last, so is Bizell. Bizel isn't very good for what I saw, but I'm pretty sure he'll take care of the people, and of all the Demon King candidates left at the moment, whoever becomes Demon King but me will probably be fine."

Amel speaking somewhere bystander. Somehow, it sounds like she's not going to be the Demon King herself.

"... if,"

Sophia asks her that.

"What if the inhabitants ask you to be the Demon King?

"Give me a reason for that, I'll politely refuse. I mean, there's no such thing as fine dust, so it's useless to think about it."

Amel smiling again...... he's a brain muscle, but he understands his abilities and stuff properly and thinks he shouldn't be the Demon King for the sake of the demon world.

I act like I'm bothering Croix with an action that doesn't even clap suddenly, but it also seems basically intelligent... I guess I'll be in a brain-muscle state about getting involved in the fight. If we can get away from it, we can argue calmly, too.

"Well, now that I've heard about the Demon King, I've achieved half my purpose."

That's what Amel whines about...... half?

"It's my purpose to stay..."

So she turned a sharp glance. Uh, I can understand exactly what you want to do.

"You want to fight me or Sophia?

Asked earlier, Amel put out her tongue.

"Ha ha, just so you know"

"... Isn't that just bad?

To my opinion, Amel tips his neck.

"Bad? What?

"Let's say we fight. So, if Sophia and I beat you, I don't feel like we're going to have the same Demon King candidate, Croix, or something like that."

What do we say about halving Widels' troops... when things get like losing a Demon King candidate right in front of you - and what's more, if you mean it, that's what you're going to kill instantly, and what other demons think if you do -

"Oh, I see... from the person who defeated the Demon King, am I lacking strength in something?

I won't say anything. Affirmation, denial, either way I felt like it was going to be a pain in the ass, so I wasn't sure how to answer.

Then Amel looks right at us. How she interpreted this silence - eventually she opened her mouth.
