Sword of the Philosopher
Downtown
Magic technology has allowed us to maintain numerous lights even at night... would that stand like electricity where I said it in my previous life? Whatever it was that was spreading right in front of us was just downtown. There was a glossy town in the midst of a dark night.
"Wow, that's..."
Sophia leaks an exclamation. Reese nodded small and I also agreed, "Right."
There are stalls on Main Street where we came by carriage, people talking, laughing, drinking and singing cheerfully. There's a soldier figure again, and if there's a fight or something like that, we're going to be able to deal with it as soon as possible.
"Would it be better if soldiers didn't find us?
Reese raises questions. So Emena,
"Soldiers belong differently in town and castle. Castle people will never guard the town, and my face won't be a problem because it's unknown."
As I say, she wears the hood that's in her robe. I'm telling you it's okay, just in case.
"Besides boulevards, these stalls exist… in alleys, there are shops that are open exclusively at night"
If you look closely, all the buildings that extend to the left and right of the boulevard are closed. I see, you mean shops are built during the day and stalls are lined up at night?
"Is the store owner and the stall owner the same person?
Somehow, I wonder, Emena,
"If you are setting up a store on the main street, you can also open an outdoor store if you apply to the town for the road in front of the building. Store operations are authorised by posting permits for stalls. I don't know if he's the same person... you just don't know."
Hmm, so you're using the space in front of the store to open the store at night? Maybe the owner of the store or something is lending it to someone trying to do a stall, or something like that.
There are carriages that come and go during the day, so when stalls are lined up, there is no other way out of the way, but there are no such rides at night. Thus, people are walking around freely.
The same goes for the number of stalls, but the number of people walking in the town is also quite high... Even the capital of the kingdom of Barks, Filintérres, does not have zero shops to open at night. Typical is a liquor store or something, but I've never seen just this many stalls built to lure a large number of people.
I turn to the light. It's supposed to be magical lighting, and zero distractions, etc. that actually occur when you use flames, etc. There's also quite a bit of light, so much that you can't look directly at it.
Such lights exist there. Similar lights exist in stalls, etc., and how anyone can use the lights.
"Technological innovations have made it possible to create a lot of cheap lights tomorrow."
"Yes, it will"
Emena returns to discipline to my whining. So Sophia and Leese invite him to walk down the street with their gaze, and decide to follow it.
The types of stalls, many of which are restaurants. Of course there is alcohol, and there are drunk people there. In this situation, if I were to get into trouble, I'd get tangled up in a drunk or something. If it's a hassle, you can put him to sleep at his worst and hand him over to the soldiers.
There are other stores that deal with jewellery etc... but I saw the price and it was cheap, so I can tell it's like imitation. I wondered if anyone would buy it, but a woman stops by flirtatiously to look at the product. Sounds like a lot of demand.
As for the ratio of men to women, it's not weird with all the men because they seem to have a lot of opportunities to drink... Is that what the lights are making them do, and there are quite a few women. It seems to have an easy atmosphere to come to.
Sophia and the others seem to blend in fine as a result... and the good smell tickles my nose. There are also a variety of items available in outdoor stores, such as chairs in the compartment to eat on the spot, or even things that you might be able to buy.
"... you want some?
Somehow I asked, and Sophia and the others saw this one.
"In the middle of the day, we had money for this country."
"When... it would be nice to do a lot of things on the ground. Ah, Princess Emena...... and is the princess just bad"
Reese laughs nicely at Emena.
"I wonder if I know your name. What am I supposed to call you?
"Okay, with Ena. I just shrunk it, because that's what my friends call it."
"Yes, we don't mind Leese, Sophia either... so, Ena. Have you ever walked into a town at night and eaten anything?
"You've never had one. I've only seen the town lights from the castle, and I've never walked around town like this before."
"I see. Then experience it with us."
Leese advances in a half-leading fashion. The smell caught me on the way and I bought a treat. Made from bread like rusk, the sweetness of honey runs through the mouth and nose in addition to the crisp texture.
"It's delicious."
"It feels like a lot of drinking, but surprisingly, a lot of stores handle this stuff."
I'm not talking about the unlikely sweetness in liquor dishes...... but it's funny how sweets are usually sold.
Looking at the street again, the age group is quite fragmented as well. Exactly no children...... no, you have a little. Not that it's late at night, and some of the kids are up at night... but they have parents and stuff right?
It's just, well, the fact that a child can walk through a town at night, albeit under the lights, is also proof that it's so safe. Let's not go as far as the whole boulevard…, the compartment where the lights exist is quite wide. If that's the size of it, there are a lot of people, and troubles should be right... but soldiers and stuff are handled properly, so...
"... the truth is that technological developments made the town of the night this way, but in the beginning it continued to be troublesome"
And Emena talks to the pretend.
"We didn't even decide how the soldiers would patrol..."
"I see, then naturally it will be a commotion... is the sight we are seeing the result of everyone's efforts?
"Yes, exactly"
As for drunks, it feels like soldiers are finding them early and preventing trouble. There's so much noise that I don't hear too far away, but there's probably even a place where it's like a fight.
However, the soldiers can seize it... even the weapons are there, and I thought it might not be that hard to deal with.
