Chapter 92 - 42: Zitan Villa, The 10 Million Red Envelope
Jiang Li couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. ’Looks like Cao Wenzhou is really sparing no expense this time.’
Jiang Li reached out, took it, and glanced down.
The card was solid black. It had no account number, just the designation 006 and her name.
"Alright, my thanks to Manager Cao. I’ll be sure to be there on time."
She even set a reminder and an alarm, afraid she might forget.
Cao Wenzhou picked up his briefcase and stood. "Well then, I shouldn’t trouble you any further. I’ll take my leave."
Jiang Li slipped the card into her handbag. "It’s already lunchtime. Why don’t you stay and eat before you go?"
Cao Wenzhou smiled. "In that case, it would be rude of me to refuse."
’It wasn’t his idea to stay—Jiang Li was the one who invited him to lunch.’
’If that old coot from Fengdu Bank found out about this, he’d be green with envy.’
Jiang Li had already sent a message to the house staff on her way back, so when she and Cao Wenzhou went to the dining room, the meal had just been fully laid out.
Presumably, since there were only two of them, it wasn’t a large spread—just two meat dishes, one vegetable dish, and a soup.
After the meal, Cao Wenzhou didn’t linger. He said his goodbyes to Jiang Li and left.
The moment Cao Wenzhou was gone, Jiang Li asked Xie Wan, "Out of curiosity, what sort of industries nationwide does Kyoto Bank partner with?"
"If you want a detailed list, there are quite a few. For instance, several of the hottest high-end luxury brands, the real estate sector, and so on."
A good household manager, after all, needed to know everything. How else could they help the family resolve its concerns?
A small smile touched Jiang Li’s lips. "Looks like this is a pretty good deal after all."
’I just wonder what could be at this auction to make Cao Wenzhou so eager.’
The group had agreed when they went their separate ways this morning to get together for hot pot tonight.
After her afternoon nap, Jiang Li took Xie Wan straight to the supermarket for groceries and drinks. By the time they returned to Zitan Villa, it was nearly five o’clock.
The villa came with a private butler and two maids. Seeing Jiang Li return, they immediately gathered around her.
"Miss Jiang," they called out in unison.
Jiang Li waved a hand. "Perfect. We’re having hot pot tonight. Go and get these ingredients prepped."
The supermarket offered home delivery, but they refused because of the long distance, so Jiang Li had simply hired five able-bodied men to carry everything.
Understanding Jiang Li’s gesture, the men set down the items they were holding. "Miss Jiang, we’ll take our leave now."
Their ride was waiting outside, so it wasn’t wise to linger.
Jiang Li waved them off. "Go on." Only then did the butler lead the two maids to carry all the bags from the floor into the kitchen.
Zhou Jiawen had come over to the villa early in the morning and had asked someone to keep an eye out, telling them to let her know the moment Jiang Li returned.
And sure enough, the moment she heard from a maid that Jiang Li was back, she rushed right over. "Sister-in-law, am I too early?"
Jiang Li laughed. "You’re not early, they’re late."
’Either way, it wasn’t Zhou Jiawen’s fault.’
Zhou Jiawen giggled. "Sister-in-law, you just love spoiling me!"
Jiang Li spread her hands. "What can I do? I’ve always wanted a little sister."
She had even wanted Jing Shiyun and Jiang Bowen to have another child, but her mother had suffered an amniotic fluid embolism while giving birth to her. The complication damaged her body, leaving her unable to get pregnant again, and so Jiang Li had given up on the idea of having a sister.
But hearing Zhou Jiawen so sweetly call her "Sister-in-law," she thought it didn’t sound nearly as nice as "Sister."
Zhou Jiawen’s eyes lit up. She grabbed Jiang Li’s arm and said, "Then I can just be your little sister from now on!"
"I won’t call you Sister-in-law anymore. I’ll call you Sister Jiang."
Jiang Li didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "The way you say that, you’d think we were living in ancient times."
Zhou Jiawen thought about it and realized it was true. ’Don’t all the concubines in historical dramas address each other by adding ’Sister’ after their surname?’
"How about I call you Sister Jiang, then?"
"Just call me Sis."
Zhou Jiawen immediately called out in a bright, clear voice, "Sis!"
Jiang Li’s expression softened. "Alright!"
She pulled out her phone. "Sis is in a good mood today. Let me send you a little red packet."
The next second, a system notification from Alipay chimed: "Alipay transfer received: 10,000,000 yuan."
Zhou Jiawen blinked. "Seriously? This is your idea of a ’little’ red packet?"
’What kind of person gives away 10 million yuan in a red packet? She’s basically the Goddess of Wealth in human form!’
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. "What? Was that not enough?"
