Chapter 112 - 49: Restaurant Proposal, Marking the Location (2)
Jiang Li mumbled, "For the ones still in school, they can get scholarships based on their grades. As for how to allocate the funds, you can decide."
"Okay, Sister Jiang. I’ll go arrange it right away."
Her mouth hadn’t stopped moving since she’d answered the phone, all thanks to Shen Yanzhi feeding her.
When she hung up, she even had a cherry tomato in her mouth.
Shen Yanzhi laughed. "I guess those short-form videos weren’t lying. People on the phone really will eat anything you give them."
She shot Shen Yanzhi an aggrieved look. "And you’re still talking? I could barely speak clearly just now."
The corners of Shen Yanzhi’s lips curved into a faint smile.
Just a moment ago, he had taken a bunch of photos and even recorded a video.
Jiang Li was just too cute, like a hamster stuffing its cheeks.
If he weren’t afraid of upsetting her, he would have reached out and pinched her cheeks.
Jiang Li couldn’t help but hug her arms, shivering involuntarily. "That smile of yours is so creepy. It feels like you’ve done something mischievous."
Shen Yanzhi replied with a straight face, "Besides feeding you, what other mischief could I possibly get into?"
’That’s true,’ Jiang Li thought. It was just that his smile had been so radiant, it gave her the distinct feeling she’d been tricked.
As they were talking, a server began bringing their dishes and placing them on the table one by one.
After arranging the last dish, the server bowed to them. "Esteemed guests, your order is now complete. Please enjoy your meal."
Jiang Li thanked him. "Well, it certainly looks exquisite. I just wonder how it tastes."
Shen Yanzhi gestured for her to begin. "There’s only one way to find out."
While speaking, he rinsed her utensils with boiling water, taking care of her in every little detail.
Adhering to the principle of proximity, Jiang Li picked up a piece of a spare rib.
It was sickeningly sweet.
She immediately spat it out. "Oh my god, is sugar free here or something?"
Hearing her, Shen Yanzhi frowned slightly. He tried a piece himself, and his brows knitted together so tightly you could have trapped a mosquito between them. "Maybe we should try another dish?"
But after trying a few more dishes, they found everything was either sickeningly sweet or unbearably salty.
Jiang Li shook her head in resignation. "I guess you really can’t just try the local cuisine anywhere."
"I’m sorry. This is my fault for not giving you a better experience."
Shen Yanzhi was blaming himself. He had wanted their date to have a wonderful start, but things just hadn’t gone according to plan.
Jiang Li waved her hand dismissively. "What does this have to do with you? It’s the chef’s fault, not yours."
Worried he was blaming himself too much, Jiang Li tilted her head and smiled. "Besides the food tasting terrible, I’m actually very happy with everything else. The experience is still great."
But Shen Yanzhi’s brow remained furrowed. Jiang Li swallowed. "We could... rinse it in some water. It’ll still be edible."
With that, she snapped her fingers, and a server immediately came over.
Jiang Li asked for two bowls and two cups of boiling water.
Once the water and bowls arrived, Jiang Li poured the boiling water into a bowl, picked up some food with her chopsticks, and swished it around inside.
She took a bite, then looked at Shen Yanzhi in surprise. "It’s really much milder now."
Shen Yanzhi stared at Jiang Li, then followed her example and tried it himself.
Although his reaction wasn’t as dramatic as Jiang Li’s, the food was at least edible now, unlike before, when they couldn’t eat it at all.
"How about we go out for a late-night snack afterward?"
Jiang Li didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Dude, do you see what time it is? What late-night snack?"
Their itinerary for the past two days had been a whirlwind tour, and she was already exhausted.
’At first, her plan had been to just order some takeout, eat, and go straight to sleep before continuing their tour the next day.’
’But even if she could do it over, she would still choose to come out with Shen Yanzhi.’
’Even if the food was awful, as long as he was by her side, nothing else mattered.’
She yawned. "Let’s eat quickly so we can go back and get some sleep."
Shen Yanzhi pressed his lips together. "Okay."
This time, however, Shen Yanzhi didn’t let Jiang Li rinse her own food; he took over the task for her.
As he saw Jiang Li was nearly finished eating, Shen Yanzhi snapped his fingers, and a server immediately approached with a cart.
Seeing this, Jiang Li asked, "Huh? Did you order something else?"
Shen Yanzhi nodded. "I ordered dessert."
The server lifted the cover, revealing a small, four-inch cake.
The cake was exquisite, with a pink-and-white ombré design, and adorned with numerous roses that looked incredibly lifelike.
Jiang Li couldn’t help but gasp. "This cake is gorgeous."
She grabbed her phone from the side and, CLICK-CLICK-CLICK, began snapping a flurry of photos from every possible angle.
