Chapter 173 - 69: The Four Heavenly Kings, Team Building (3)
When she woke up the next day, her whole body was sore.
Her throat even felt like she’d swallowed razor blades; it was incredibly painful.
She shakily sat up. Before Jiang Li could even move, Shen Yanzhi, who had been sitting on the tatami mat writing notes on prenatal care, was by her side in a flash.
He handed Jiang Li the warm water he had already prepared, then sat on the edge of the bed, carefully supporting her waist and gently massaging it.
After finishing the water, Jiang Li irritably reached out and pinched Shen Yanzhi’s waist.
Shen Yanzhi raised his hands in surrender. "I was wrong."
Jiang Li huffed and turned her head away, refusing to look at Shen Yanzhi.
Her mind was filled with images from last night. She turned as red as a cooked shrimp, all her exposed skin blushing.
Shen Yanzhi stood up, cupped Jiang Li’s face in his hands, and leaned down to meet her gaze. "Do you want to eat in bed or downstairs?"
Jiang Li’s voice was very hoarse. "Downstairs."
With that, she threw off the blanket, only to realize with a sudden chill that Shen Yanzhi had stripped off her pajamas last night, claiming they were in the way.
Before Jiang Li’s death glare could reach him, Shen Yanzhi quickly handed her a new set of pajamas. "Wear this."
Jiang Li took the pajamas, saw Shen Yanzhi just standing there, and barked, "Aren’t you going to turn around?!"
Shen Yanzhi quickly turned around. ’We’ve already been completely open with each other,’ he thought. ’What’s there to be shy about?’
But everything online said pregnant women shouldn’t get angry and needed to stay happy and relaxed, so of course, he couldn’t risk provoking her.
A man had to be content. Even though he hadn’t gotten to the main course last night, he had at least managed to scratch an itch.
If he made her angry now, there probably wouldn’t be a next time.
After changing and washing up, the two went downstairs together.
Considering Jiang Li’s throat, Shen Yanzhi had only asked for vegetable congee and some light side dishes to be prepared.
Just as they finished eating, Liu Qian arrived with a contract and the business license.
Jiang Li glanced at the time. It was just past eight.
Worried that Liu Qian hadn’t eaten, she quickly asked, "Have you had breakfast?"
Liu Qian nodded. "I had noodles."
Jiang Li’s mouth twitched. "You’re still quite early, then."
She had promised to be their protective umbrella, but they were the ones who threw it away.
Liu Qian was living in the company dorms now, so it must have taken her at least half an hour to get here.
Factoring out breakfast and travel time, didn’t that mean she had to get up at six-something?
’I said nine to six, but she’s forcing herself to work overtime.’
Liu Qian smiled and scratched the back of her head. "I was just thinking you might be in a hurry, so I came early."
Jiang Li shook her head helplessly. "You don’t need to be in such a rush next time. When I say nine to six, I mean nine to six."
"Okay, I got it." *’And I’ll do it again next time.’*
’Since I’m getting paid so much by Jiang Li, I have to work even harder.’
’Otherwise, I’d feel like I don’t deserve it.’
And it wasn’t just her; the other assistants felt the same way.
Unbeknownst to Jiang Li, her assistants were competing like their lives depended on it.
’Now that the company is established, the employees probably don’t know each other very well.’ "Oh, right. Find some time to organize a team-building event. There’s no spending limit—you can even take them abroad if you want. The only thing that matters is that the employees have fun."
Liu Qian couldn’t help but swallow. "Sister Jiang, with no spending limit... you’ll be spending tens of millions, at least."
The company has several thousand employees now. Even at a thousand per person, that would still be tens of millions.
Jiang Li waved her hand dismissively. "Forget tens of millions. Hundreds of millions is fine, too."
When employees have fun, they’re in a good mood.
And when they’re in a good mood, do you think performance will be a problem?
Back when she was an employee, she always wanted to go on fun trips. But every team-building event was just a visit to some free tourist spot, followed by a meal at a cheap diner and some karaoke. And that was it.
Now that she was the boss, she was determined to make sure her employees ate well, played well, and drank well.
As she spoke, she picked up her phone from the side, unlocked it, and tapped a few times. "I just transferred one billion to you. If that’s not enough, just ask me for more."
Liu Qian was so moved she practically dropped to her knees. "Sister Jiang! You! Are! My! GOD!"
Jiang Li reached out, took Liu Qian’s hand, and pulled her up. "Get up, quick. The floor is cold."
Once Liu Qian was on her feet, Jiang Li said, "Go ahead and arrange it. Try to do it in the next day or two."
Liu Qian blinked. "So, will you and your husband be going?"
Jiang Li waved her hand. "We won’t go. We just got back from a trip, and I don’t want to go through all that trouble again."
’Besides, if I was there, the employees probably wouldn’t have a good time anyway.’
’After all, no employee really wants to hang out with their boss.’
