Chapter 434: Cum, Then Crisis
SHADOWCLAW — ALPHA’S STUDY
Serena had walked in for a reason that evaporated the moment Finnick Shadowclaw lifted her onto the desk, stepped between her legs, and started kissing her.
Her hands were in his hair.
His hands settled on her thighs, thumbs pressing into the soft inner muscle just hard enough to remind her he was there. He didn’t push higher. He just held the contact while his mouth found hers again, slow and thorough, like he had all the time in the world and intended to use every second of it on her.
His mouth was warm. His body was warm. Everything about Finnick Shadowclaw ran at a temperature that made her forget things, and the thing she was currently forgetting was whatever she had walked in to say, and the forgetting was comprehensive.
He hauled her closer to the edge of the desk. The shift forced her legs wider around his hips and the hard line of him pressed firmly against her heat.
Her fingers tightened in his hair when he rolled his hips against her. The friction was precise and intentional. Fin swallowed the sound she made and kept kissing her through it.
He pulled back.
"I missed you, baby." The words were rough against her lips.
Before she could answer, his lips were on hers again.
She started to giggle. The giggle was small, involuntary, produced by the specific combination of exhaustion and affection that only Finnick Shadowclaw could generate, because the man alternated between commanding armies and kissing her face like a puppy and the alternation was so disorienting that laughter was the only response her body could produce.
Then he sat down in his chair and pulled her with him, guiding her legs to either side of his hips so she straddled his lap fully.
The second she settled, he gripped her waist and rolled his hips up into her, slow, deliberate, letting her feel the hard length of him through her training suit.
His mouth claimed hers before she could breathe. The kiss turned heavier, hungrier, matching every upward roll of his hips. His hands moved to her ass, guiding the pace, holding her exactly where he wanted her. She met him stroke for stroke, sinking down as he pressed up, the friction slow and deliberate.
Then his breathing turned ragged, every exhale edged with a growl as he chased the friction like an animal.
"You’re going to cum for me just like this, baby. I feel it," he said against her lips, moving her faster.
He hauled her down harder and started thrusting up in a rapid, punishing rhythm, the friction turning fierce.
"Fin," she breathed. "Don’t stop."
"Cum for me. Right now," he said in an Alpha command.
Her orgasm crashed through her, full-body and helpless.
"That’s it. Give it to me," he groaned.
The door to his study swung open.
It didn’t register at first.
She was moaning, back arched, mid-orgasm, dry humping Fin for a good two seconds while his Gamma stood in the doorway. Only when the last tremor left her did he still, one hand still splayed possessively on her ass.
He looked up.
Serena turned her head, following his line of sight, and her face turned scarlet.
Immediately, she tried to stand from Fin’s lap. Fin’s arms locked.
The locking was absolute, casual, carrying the specific authority of a man whose mate was straddling him, and whose mate’s embarrassment was noted and overruled because Finnick Shadowclaw did not rearrange himself for the comfort of the person entering his study. The person entering his study could rearrange their expectations.
"Alpha, apologies for the interruption," Gamma Sharpe said from the doorway. "We received an update from Drakenfell."
"Go ahead," Fin said, his voice carrying the composed neutrality of a man conducting business with a woman on his lap and finding the arrangement operationally sound.
"Guinevere Ashford has been extracted from her prison transport to Maximus South." Gamma Sharpe entered the room, crossing to the desk with the measured stride of a Gamma delivering intelligence. "The escort was hit with dark magic on the eastern road. Mage screen. One confirmed casualty among the guard detail. Dark Fae signature on the compounds used."
Fin’s posture changed beneath Serena.
"Abducted is the official report," Sharpe continued, "but the surviving prisoner stated she ran during the extraction."
"She ran," Fin repeated.
"According to the witness, yes. She exited the carriage and bolted."
"Keep me informed," Fin said.
"Will do, Alpha."
Sharpe left and the door closed behind him.
Serena sat in Fin’s lap in the quiet that followed. Her face was still scarlet. His arms were still tight around her. His breathing was controlled. But their matebond carried a storm that his face refused to display.
"Are you alright?" she asked.
"She is my cousin." His voice was measured, each word placed with care. "She did terrible things to you. She did terrible things to Dex. She was sentenced to death, and I let the sentence stand because the sentence was just. And now she is missing, and the missing is a problem, because she is still my blood, and my blood is my responsibility, and the responsibility does not expire because the person attached to it made choices I find indefensible."
"I understand."
She pressed her forehead against his.
Fin’s hand came up to the back of her neck, fingers threading into her hair. He held her there and spoke against her mouth, voice rough.
"You’re mine. Even when the world is on fire. Especially then."
The kiss that followed was slow and deep enough to erase the last five minutes.
"Mine." Kiss on her forehead. "Mate." Kiss on her mouth. "You’re also sore. I can feel it."
Her head fell into the crook of his neck.
"A bit," she admitted. "I am going to be realistic with you, Fin." She paused, and took a deep breath. "There’s no way I’ll be able to shift by myself in two days. It’s going to take longer than that. The instinct is missing. My wolf can’t find it and neither can I."
Her tone was defeated, but the defeat was honest.
"Then we figure it out without you needing to shift. The shift is one tool in an arsenal, and the arsenal is deep, and the absence of one tool does not invalidate the rest."
She swallowed. The swallow was thick, carrying the weight of the thought she was thinking but had chosen to keep behind her teeth.
The ancestors were clear. Their survival was contingent on her ability to shift and fight in wolf form and she couldn’t do it.
"Serena, stop thinking that."
She jolted, surprised. No, she would never get used to him reading her mind like that.
"I can feel your emotions, and that is too much pressure for anyone to carry alone." He waited for her to sit up fully. His hands stayed on her waist. "Look at me."
Her head came up from his neck. Her eyes found his.
"This is not your fault." He kissed her. "None of it is. You’ve been training hard. There’s only so much time. If you tell me you don’t realistically think it can happen, then we find another solution. It’s too much pressure on your shoulders and too much pressure on your body."
Her eyes welled. She swallowed the tears down.
He was waiting for a response, and she did not know what to say.
