The Amber Sword

Chapter 344 Act 101 Tonigal and the Young Lord (I) (1st Preface)

The mercenaries sent to the direction of the Grahar Mountains, who had no clue about contacting the Southern Legion of Eruin, either did not return or brought back useless information.

Brando knew that the mercenaries sent out were not necessarily reliable in themselves.

Not everyone in this group of mercenaries is willing: Vern, Kroncia and Utah each have their own plans, and many more have a passionate mindset.

Brando was not unaware of the fact that some of the people who had been sent had fled directly, but he did not intend to resort to coercion - nor was it of any use.

Only those who sincerely stay with him and suffer together will be able to rely on them.

Brando, of course, was not waiting to be killed, and in the shadow of the Paras-directed war over Tonigal, one day more cloudy than the other, he arranged for trustworthy men to cross the mountains through Schafflund to continue to search for the traces of the Southern Legion of Eruin.

On the one hand, the construction of the territory is also proceeding in an orderly fashion -

The renovation of the walls was finalized at the end of the month of the frost month, nearly a week later than anticipated - consuming considerably more material than anticipated, the only benefit of which was approximately those workers recruited to renovate the walls.

It didn't actually go as well as I thought at first.

Because no one at all is willing to work for this‘ dishonest 'young lord, Groudin Yuwei remains, let alone let Count Denel's fame be as heavy as the mountains in the hearts of these lower colonies.

The Huairou policy, which had been agreed upon, was in almost immediate trouble, and the lure of material conditions did not allow these people to overcome their fears of old aristocratic forces, or of reprisals that might ensue.

Antitina quickly realized that even if the mercenaries hadn't blocked the perimeter of Cold Cedar City, or if these lower colonists had almost the same fear for Brando, the mass exodus would have begun.

With this in mind, the nobleman Kim finally understood her mistake, and she had to make up for it only by means of coercion - and in order to guarantee the duration of the work, Antitina even acted as a 'noble dog's leg'.

The young girl herself took a man to the outer city, expelled the inhabitants living in the huts of the grass house from it and allowed them to gather in the square in shadows, ordered the soldiers to send them the tools and then asked them to supervise their work.

Of course, although the aristocratic lady has minimized the elements of violence there, violence in supervision is inevitable, and the title 'Miss Devil’ soon spreads in private.

The whole day passed in the midst of the workers' response and resistance to the supervisors.

But this change in attitude stemmed from the fact that after the first day of work, everyone expected - the ‘Miss Devil’ had arranged for them a full dinner.

Not only is there rare white bread for dinner, but there's even stew soup--

And of course, the broth is not really famous enough, it's almost as clear as water without meat, and at first glance it's like a pool in a mountain —— a clear glance at the bottom. So much so that the noblemen could not help but frown when they saw the pots cooking meat, but it was not mercenary harshness, the meat was taken from the forest by the mercenaries, not many, but not enough.

She was worried that the workers would complain, but it turned out that things had gone completely unexpected.

These perennial slum-dwellers can barely walk when they smell the rich scent of broth, and their eyes become brighter than the hungriest wolves in the forest - in their view, white bread is already rarely delicious and is only possible during festivals or on some important day.

And as for the meat, it was only at the end of the year, to see if the lord was in a good mood enough to give them some leftovers.

As for the ambiguity, that is completely irrelevant.

In fact, seeing these workers swallow, Antittina realized she had made another mistake. When she remembered her embarrassment in Prague, she could only chew a little black bread every day, let alone eat gruesome.

And thanks to the power of this dinner, the nobility has finally stabilized its hearts. She said that everyone could eat such food every day as long as they stayed on the site.

The promise was almost astonishing in the crowd, and although the workers were half-hearted, most were willing to stay and look at the situation - not to mention that even if they didn't want to stay, the fierce mercenaries would help them choose.

However, their doubts were quickly dispelled, and the ‘Miss Devil' did live up to her promise to have a white bread and a small plate of stewed meat 'thick' soup every night.

As a direct result, the meat reserves in the warehouse have dropped rapidly - because they were already modest - from small amounts of domesticated livestock in the Territory, mostly sheepmeat or pork, some of which have been marinated for quite some time.

The meat used to be served to Groudin and his men, but at this time it was used to supply hundreds of people with daily consumption, which naturally fell short of demand.

Flo complained to Antina more than once about this, saying it was like she was depleting herself, presumably by Brando's return, their lord would not be able to eat a meat.

This assertion once touched Antina, on the one hand her most revered young lord, and, on the other hand, only some workers from among the refugees, who the noble lady would seldom consider and choose.

However, after repeated consideration, she eventually adhered to her own practice. She asked the mercenaries to hunt as much in the forest as possible - and even to abandon their daily training, simply to supplement meat consumption.

But this has brought unexpected benefits, and workers are increasingly hearing about 'Miss Devil' hunting in the woods outside the city to ensure their dinner - hunting in the private hunting grounds of past lords!

This practice once touched everyone, and even a mercenary was quietly commissioned to tell her that it was good to have white bread every day so that she did not have to spend so much money.

The workers began to fear that the young lord would punish the charitable and benevolent aristocratic lady for it.

Instead of doing so, which gave Antina firm confidence, she then told the workers - telling them that it was not her, but Lord Lords who had arranged this, so they had nothing to worry about.

Antitina used this little explanation to put all the credit on Brando, and this young lord's earlier tax breaks led to a momentary high reputation among these lower colonies.

Brando, of course, knew nothing about it at that time, because young people were dealing with mines in Schafflund, and they could say they had no idea what was happening in the territory.

In fact, Antittina didn't realize at first that she was going to succeed in these initiatives - she never had the experience to govern her territory, or just had a few brief discussions with Brando on her journey.

But soon she realized she had done nothing wrong.

Less than a week after the commensurate response had begun, she had been turned to mercenaries to ask if Lord Lords needed more men.

This is clearly a signal that her site can already attract more labour. But more than that, it shows that someone has begun to falter between the vestiges of the old aristocratic forces and the prestige of the young new lords.

This is undoubtedly a good sign.

But the only thing that makes Antina regrettable is that the good omens ultimately fail to reverse the fact that construction delays - on the one hand, too much time has been delayed at first, and on the other hand, none of them is really proficient in architecture and engineering.

The addition of Master Buru may have more or less reversed some of their lapses in arranging manpower, but the Kingdom Forger is also not a true professional - he may have a unique insight into how to build a magic armor.

But definitely not on a wall renovation--

The dilemma did not eventually improve until the arrival of Old Dwarf Odom from the Chaffrend mines, no matter how unreliable the old dwarf may be, he learned at least a little something from his fellow alpine dwarves.

After correcting some of the original misconceptions, the renovation process quickly accelerated until the end of the month, when the completion was finally announced.

On the morning of completion, Antittina invited Brando, Metisa, Charles and all the young men in her heart. She stood in the fog of the morning with Sy and Roman, and finally took a long breath when she got the hidden walls that stood in the early winter and after the fog had clouded her.

But then she raised her eyebrows slightly and looked back at Brando, looking in that same direction, with some apologies: "I'm sorry, Lord, for wasting so much time--”

Brando looked at his own staff and looked at them with admiration.

He remembers being lucky when he was in Prague, because he could dig up a man who could make a magic guide - something that was undoubtedly happier than picking up gold by the road.

But it wasn't until today that he really realized that what he had found was not just a baby - it was also a priceless treasure.

Antittina is a very quiet girl, but she also has her own insistence - Brando can see the girl's insistence on her own ideals and beliefs - how he feels he can make such a wonderful girl serve herself wholeheartedly.

Upon his return to the Territory, he had learned all about the work of this nobleman. He was also worried that Antina, who had no experience in the governance of the territory, would be in serious trouble - he even expected the wall to run until next month.

In other words, repairs can only be done in the middle of a sleepy month, which, while not a big hassle, may cause more or less inconvenience after the first snow.

But Antina gave him a big surprise, a nobleman who accomplished this task with the seriousness and meticulousness that he had always expected.

Not only that, he was satisfied with the performance of Burrough and Odom - apart from the fact that the old dwarf was always a little awkward.

He looked at Antittina and smiled with identity and nodded. (To be continued, please go to www.qidian.com for more chapters, support the author, and support authentic reading!)
