Chapter 362 - 182: Give Me Back My Lively, Cheerful, and Adorable Junior Brother (2)
The result was that these two noisy girls, getting more and more audacious, refused to leave and insisted on staying here.
During the time, they secretly clashed a few times, and if they weren’t concerned about Chu Xuan still being unconscious, they probably would have started fighting.
...
"Wait," Chu Xuan patted his senior sister on the shoulder to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Qin Mengyao reluctantly stepped back a bit, simply wrapping her arms around him from behind and casting a provocative glance over, making the two women both anxious and angry.
Of course, they remembered the suggestion Xiao Xue made earlier; now was not the time to have a conflict with this wicked woman. The priority was to join them, and make a plan later.
Chu Xuan frowned at the two, his voice somewhat hoarse as he said, "How did you get in here?"
By now, the two women had long since prepared their excuses. Gu Haitang replied, "We’ve been searching for you at the bottom of the cliff for a long time, but couldn’t find any trace. It was ultimately Qingqing’s dragon that made the difference."
Qingqing nodded repeatedly, and with a pat, a mini dragon emerged from a pouch tied around her waist, staring wide-eyed at Chu Xuan, still carrying a trace of fear from their past encounter.
"Previously, the little horns on the dragon kept flashing with that eerie green glow, and I guessed something happened to you, so I rushed over..."
Though Chu Xuan seemed skeptical, he didn’t pursue the matter further, instead speaking with a low tone, "This place is very dangerous. Don’t do anything foolish next time. Let’s head out."
Gu Haitang bit her lip, "Can we talk alone? Once we’re done, I’ll leave."
Qingqing nodded, "Me too."
Qin Mengyao raised her brow, about to speak, but Chu Xuan stopped her and then stood up from the ground.
Even this small motion made him frown slightly, obviously indicating that his injuries were not light.
Before anyone could worry, Chu Xuan had already headed out, "Let’s go, we can talk outside."
Clearly, he intended for the two women to follow, and they breathed a sigh of relief inwardly, thinking that the little girl truly understood Chu Xuan’s temperament.
Qin Mengyao silently discontented, feeling that they were using moral coercion on Chu Xuan with their lives, making her even angrier.
Of course, Qin Mengyao was smart and only went forward to support her junior brother without voicing any objections. Once outside the cave abode, she took him in flight using Sword Control.
Chu Xuan had no intention of staying longer, but upon ascending to a high altitude and seeing the full view of the island in the lake, he froze.
As mentioned before, the island took the shape of a humanoid figure, chopped in half by a blade, and the break still emitted a sense of ancient, destructive, bloody sword intent.
Images of him wearing the Blood God Armor in past years suddenly flashed through Chu Xuan’s mind, stirring a sense of resonance within.
He stood there, entranced in the air, immersed in the sword intent.
Remarkably, memories from the Celestial Evil Period battles began to surface in his mind, all experienced while wearing the Blood God Armor.
Technically, the suit consisted of three pieces: the Blood God Mask, Blood God Armor, and the Night Cloak. When worn together and unleashing their full power, they were no less formidable than an Immortal Artifact.
Chu Xuan didn’t wield a sword in those memories; he could tear through anything with the swipe of his sharpened hand claws.
Yet at this moment, Chu Xuan sensed a kind of power shared between the sword and the Blood God Armor. The suit might even be the legacy of that ancient Great Divine Techniques practitioner who wielded the sword back then.
The three women noticed his sudden enlightenment-like state and dared not disturb him, even attempting to discern something from the cross-island fissure.
Unfortunately, apart from Qin Mengyao who vaguely sensed some connection, the other two saw nothing.
After half a day, Chu Xuan finally snapped out of it.
A question lingered in his mind: did I actually visit this place before, or was it hidden in fog back then...
Forget it, he shook his head, it’s good enough to have gained something. He can meditate on it when back.
Chu Xuan turned and said, "Let’s go."
Qin Mengyao then released a small silverfish to lead the way, flying with Sword Control; the two women tightly followed.
Chu Xuan silently took stock of his gains this trip: the little jade bottle, the Yin-Yang Spiritual Fire, Qianming Immortal Qi, Celestial Tier flying sword, and a sword intent, quite a bounty indeed.
On top of his injuries, he just wanted to return to the mountain as soon as possible.
On the way back, Chu Xuan took a moment to check the state of the Six Souls Banner. As expected, the beautiful head inside was raging.
No matter which direction it flew, all it saw was darkness, feeling boundless and unbounded; all its divine techniques and attacks went into the void, completely ineffective.
The head started venting its anger on the little jade bottle, smacking it repeatedly, astonishingly not managing to break it.
As for the storage ring left by the old ghost and the Celestial Tier flying sword tossed in earlier, they were in another corner of the banner, out of the evil item’s reach, merely left screeching and possibly cursing Chu Xuan.
But unfortunately for it, Chu Xuan couldn’t understand a thing, and replied back in a leisurely manner, "Speak human, will you?"
Upon hearing this booming voice that resembled thunder and divine authority, the beautiful head was briefly stunned, then erupted even more violently, a chaotic display of platinum-colored rays from its mouth, but it was merely impotent fury.
Chu Xuan withdrew his Divine Sense, ignoring it, and pondered how best to handle this evil entity.
Should he truly refine it slowly to death? Wouldn’t that be a bit wasteful?
If it could be subjugated like the old ghost, that would be ideal. Then, it would be like replacing one minion with a stronger one; akin to upgrading.
While Chu Xuan was lost in thought, the journey back was not without incidents, even though they stuck to safe routes, but the three women swiftly dealt with every mishap.
Chu Xuan remained silent throughout, neither Qingqing nor Gu Haitang managed to engage him in conversation, even when his senior sister showed concern for his injuries, he responded briefly; let alone any teasing or flirting, he clearly was not in the mood.
Needless to say, Qin Mengyao felt teeth-gritting resentment, thinking how her junior brother used to be so lively and cheerful, now all depressed due to the arrival of these two!
...
A day later, they finally arrived back at the Crystal Palace, but by then, the old fish "Xi Shangweng" had long vanished, hidden away in some corner for seclusion.
Chu Xuan had intended to bid farewell and possibly offer compensation, but he missed the chance and could only hope to do so next time.
As their group left the palace, over a dozen flowing fish accompanied them, evidently instructed by the old fish beforehand.
With these little creatures leading the way, they easily exited the Ancient Battlefield from where they entered.
...
Upon returning below Broken Sword Mountain Cliff, alongside the riverside, Qin Mengyao seized Chu Xuan’s hand, speaking coldly:
"Alright, you’re safe now, please leave."
Of course, the two women weren’t about to concede so easily. Qingqing was the first to say, "Chu Xuan’s injuries are serious, I must escort him back to Cyan Lotus Daoist Palace first."
Gu Haitang said earnestly, "I’m coming too. Fellow Daoist, won’t you join us in returning together?"
Qin Mengyao shot her a fierce glare!
You wretches, you’ve targeted the fact I don’t want to return to the Daoist Palace, haven’t you?
Turning around, Qingqing advised Haitang, "Sister Gu, let Qin Daoist stay here for now. She’s being chased, and with Chu Xuan’s current injury, he can’t afford to go through any more trouble."
Gu Haitang then "realized" and nodded, expressing some apology, "I think that Crystal Palace is very secure. Fellow Daoist can hide there temporarily, wait till the turbulent times pass, and then freely emerge later."
Qingqing followed up, "We’ll take good care of Chu Xuan, ensuring he heals as swiftly as possible."
Seeing that the two were teaming up to take Chu Xuan away from her side, Qin Mengyao couldn’t help but coldly chuckle:
"My junior brother promised long ago to accompany me in collecting blood energy on this battlefield. No matter how loud you sound your plans, it’s useless."
Quiet all along, Chu Xuan finally shook his head, his voice hoarse as he said, "Senior sister, I need to enter seclusion now, so it seems I won’t be able to continue on the battlefield for now. Please return with me, I’ll lead you back next time."
This time, it was Qin Mengyao’s turn to be stunned.
