Chapter 1758: The True King
"You think you have already got me cornered?"
Xiao Juanyun let out a low roar. Han Su was indeed powerful, but if he was willing to pay a certain price, escaping was not necessarily impossible.
"Why don't you try?"
Han Su answered with a cold smile. His killing intent had already reached its peak.
Suddenly, the void rippled.
Everyone immediately turned their eyes toward it, each wearing an expression of utmost vigilance.
A total of ten people had entered the golden gateway. Aside from the seven already present, the remaining three were Yi Ming from Tianchuan Sword Manor, Luo Hanzhou from the Beihan Region, and Ling Feng from the Dongling Region.
Yi Ming aside, both Luo Hanzhou and Ling Feng were on fairly good terms with Solitary Moon Heavenly Palace.
"So it's you!"
The instant Han Su recognized the newcomer, killing intent surged through his eyes before a savage grin spread across his face. "Haha! So it's you. Perfect. I was just looking for you! The humiliation you brought upon Dragon Sword Heavenly Manor will be settled today!"
Xiao Juanyun's strength did not concern him in the slightest. Especially within the Great Desolation Ruins, where sword essence was suppressed, victory depended almost entirely upon one's mastery of swordsmanship.
Here, he was the king.
The invincible king.
"Brother Ling!"
Xiao Juanyun leaped forward and landed beside Ling Feng. Standing shoulder to shoulder with him, he fixed a wary gaze upon Han Su before saying gravely, "Brother Ling, Han Su is no easy opponent. If the two of us fight together, we might still have a chance!"
Han Su burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Foolish. Far too foolish! Even if you are two in number, you are still ants. Even if ants stand together, they are still ants! Fine then. Let my sword shatter your childish delusions! Hek hek hek hek..."
Han Su's sinister laughter echoed through the area as he slowly ran his tongue along the edge of his sword. His cold, vicious gaze remained fixed on Ling Feng and Xiao Juanyun as though they were prey with no hope of escape.
Xiao Juanyun frowned deeply. "This is bad. Han Su must have encountered another fortunate opportunity on the twelfth level of Sunset Ancient City. His swordsmanship has become even more terrifying! Brother Ling, I will hold him off. You leave first!"
Since Xiao Juanyun had dragged Ling Feng into this conflict, he naturally intended to shoulder the consequences himself.
"You think you can escape? Hek hek hek..."
Han Su moved as swiftly as lightning, appearing before Ling Feng in the blink of an eye.
He thrust his sword forward, and the chilling killing intent radiating from the blade made everyone feel as though they had been plunged into an icy abyss.
He really was a powerful swordsman. To reach such a level through swordsmanship alone proved Han Su was undoubtedly a rare genius.
Ling Feng remained perfectly still, a cold smile appearing on his face.
"Did I ever say I was going to run? We were bound to cross paths sooner or later, so I might as well deal with you now and save myself the trouble."
"Hmph. Kid, you must have fried your brain with a fever."
Han Su sneered repeatedly. Wherever his sword passed, it seemed capable of slicing the void itself apart.
"Die!" Han Su shouted and countless sword lights descended upon Ling Feng like towering waves crashing across the sea.
Ling Feng looked no different from a tiny lone boat drifting upon an endless ocean and one massive wave was all it would take to drag him to eternal doom.
Xiao Juanyun's face changed drastically as he shouted a warning, "Brother Ling, be careful!"
The other disciple of Dragon Sword Heavenly Manor burst into laughter. "And what good would being careful do? Senior Brother Han's Hidden Ink Sword Art has already reached perfection. That brat is as good as dead!"
Just as the disciple had declared, everyone watching saw Ling Feng standing blankly in place without attempting to dodge. It looked as though he had resigned himself to death.
To everyone present, Ling Feng resembled a fish lying helplessly upon a chopping block. None of them knew that within these ruins, only one person truly deserved to be called king.
The one with the Eye of the Emperor.
The one who could use Insightful Replication!
With sword essence, elemental force, and vitality all sealed, all that remained were sword techniques, fist arts, kicking techniques, and movement arts, and Ling Feng could see through every one of them.
No matter how refined or intricate a technique might be, Ling Feng could still see its flaws. The only difference was whether it contained many flaws or only a few.
When victory depended solely on martial skill, who could possibly stand against him?
It would certainly not be Han Su. Even if a god descended, the result would be no different.
Clang!
A dazzling flash of sword light streaked across the battlefield.
The next instant, Han Su froze completely.
Clang!
His sword slipped from his hand and fell to the ground. He clutched his throat with both hands as bright red blood seeped through his fingers and dripped onto the floor.
"Hehe. Far too many flaws. You thought you could kill me with that?"
From beginning to end, Ling Feng had not taken a single step. He remained standing with his hands behind his back, and no one had even seen when he drew his sword.
"You..." Han Su raised a trembling finger toward Ling Feng, but before his arm could rise halfway, his body collapsed heavily to the ground.
A powerhouse like Han Su had been killed instantly with a single strike. His downfall was the result of his own overconfidence.
His swordsmanship contained very few flaws. Even Ling Feng had only spotted the decisive opening at the very last instant. Unfortunately, Han Su had been so certain that his attack would kill Ling Feng that he did not defend at all.
That single mistake gave Ling Feng the chance to end his life with one sword.
"S-Senior Brother Han?"
The only remaining disciple of Dragon Sword Heavenly Manor turned deathly pale.
His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
What just happened?
Only moments ago, Han Su had seemed to have Ling Feng completely at his mercy. Then, in the blink of an eye, he was dead.
How did he died?
"H-He's dead?"
The two female disciples of Floating Willow Sword Sect stood frozen in disbelief. "Brother... Brother Ling..."
Xiao Juanyun seemed to have turned into a wooden statue, while the disciples of Solitary Moon Heavenly Palace stared in stunned silence. Not a single one of them could believe what they had just witnessed.
