Chapter 244: Expulsion
Wen Zihua’s gaze turned cold. He took two steps forward to block Cheng Yuan’s path and said icily, "Cheng Yuan, this is the Medicine Exchange Conference. It’s a restricted area; unauthorized personnel are not permitted!"
Hu Shishi stepped forward, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. She snapped coldly, "Wen Zihua, who the hell do you think you are? You dare meddle in my Young Master’s affairs? Wasn’t the lesson from the Cheng Mansion Banquet enough for you? Get out of the way! Otherwise, my blade won’t be so discerning!"
Young Master?
Wen Zihua’s expression darkened. ’Why him?’
’Why should Cheng Yuan get to have a peerless beauty like Hu Shishi?’
"My third uncle is a member of the conference’s security committee, so I have every right to stop troublemakers from barging in! Do you even have an invitation?"
Hu Shishi flashed the invitation at Wen Zihua. "See this? Good dogs know not to block the path! Now get lost!"
With that, Hu Shishi shoved Wen Zihua aside and escorted Cheng Yuan as they strode into the main hall.
’Invitation Number 13??’
Wen Zihua’s pupils contracted. ’He had to beg his third uncle forever just to get invitation number fifty-nine!’
’It allowed him to bring a female companion.’
’Any invitation with a higher number was for a single person only.’
’So how could a country bumpkin like Cheng Yuan get invitation number thirteen?’
’He must have stolen it!’
’Or gotten it through some shady means!’
Wen Zihua pulled out his phone and dialed his third uncle, Wen Zhantian. Wen Zhantian’s annoyed voice came through the receiver, "Zihua, I’m in charge of security here, and I can’t afford a single slip-up. You’d better not cause me any trouble, or I swear I won’t let you off easy!"
Wen Zihua felt wronged. "Third Uncle, do you really think of me as someone who loves to cause trouble? I’m not making this up—some kid just waltzed into the conference with invitation number thirteen! Can you please check which VIP it belongs to?"
"Let me check."
A moment later, Wen Zhantian had the information. "Invitation number thirteen belongs to the Bear Medicine King from Sichuan Province."
Wen Zihua frowned. The Bear Medicine King was not someone he could afford to offend!
Wen Zihua asked hesitantly, "Third Uncle, is Cheng Yuan connected to the Bear Medicine King? Did he bring him?"
"Absolutely impossible. I saw the Bear Medicine King just the day before yesterday, and he only brought his assistant—no juniors. If that kid really dares to sit at table thirteen, I’ll personally have him thrown out!"
...
The Medicine Exchange Conference was held in the top-floor banquet hall of the Chang’an Clubhouse. The space spanned over a thousand square meters and was extravagantly decorated.
Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings, and priceless antiques were displayed throughout the room.
The waitresses were all campus beauties scouted from top universities.
On campus, they were adored and pursued, but here, they were on the lowest rung of the ladder. They all dreamed of catching the eye of a powerful man, hoping to marry into wealth and status.
The powerful men, however, had no interest in girls that could be so easily bought.
However, when Hu Shishi made her entrance, the eyes of many powerful men lit up. Suddenly, the companions by their sides seemed dull in comparison.
Even the tycoons accompanied by A-list celebrities found themselves staring at Hu Shishi in awe.
These men had been with countless women, and they could tell at a glance that Hu Shishi was untouched by the world, as pure as a blank slate.
To have such an attendant would be an immense status symbol.
A few of the magnates seated near the front began to whisper, "Which family’s junior is that young man? He has such a commanding presence."
"I don’t recognize him. Let’s see which table he sits at; that’ll tell us who he is."
As everyone watched, Cheng Yuan and Hu Shishi took their seats at table number thirteen.
The magnates murmured in surprise.
"The Xiongs have produced a Qilin Child! The Xiong Family of Sichuan Province is poised to rise!"
"I’m so envious. Look at their family’s heir, and then look at my own little brats... Ugh..."
Cheng Yuan and Hu Shishi were too conspicuous; Wen Zhantian had spotted them the moment they walked into the hall.
When he saw them actually sit down at table thirteen, Wen Zhantian’s gaze hardened. ’Zihua wasn’t lying! That invitation of theirs must be fake!’
Wen Zhantian turned and ordered, "Fifth Elder, take some men and remove those two from table thirteen at once! Their invitation is not legitimate!"
"Yes, sir!"
Shortly after Fifth Elder departed, a sudden chill ran down Wen Zhantian’s spine. His scalp prickled, as if a ferocious tiger had just locked its eyes on him.
’Extreme danger!!’
’If this person launched a sneak attack, they could definitely kill me!!’
Wen Zhantian turned his head stiffly toward table thirteen, only to see Cheng Yuan flash him a wide grin.
Wen Zhantian managed to force a stiff smile. Cheng Yuan gave a slight nod in return before looking away. Only then did the prickling on Wen Zhantian’s scalp finally subside.
It was only then that Wen Zhantian realized his back was completely drenched in a cold sweat.
Wen Zhantian found it hard to believe that a mere junior could put him under such immense pressure.
He was a Martial King, after all!
He didn’t know how it was possible, but Wen Zhantian no longer dared to underestimate Cheng Yuan in the slightest.
Putting everything else aside, the ability to kill him was, in itself, more than enough justification for sitting at table thirteen!
Wen Zhantian suddenly slapped his thigh.
’Oh, no!’ He had just ordered Fifth Elder to throw Cheng Yuan out. He hoped it wasn’t too late to take it back!
Wen Zhantian whirled around and ran for the stairs.
Wen Zihua had been watching his uncle’s every move. When he saw him order Fifth Elder to get rid of Cheng Yuan, Wen Zihua quickly ran to catch up with the elder.
"Fifth Elder, did my uncle just tell you to throw out the pair at table thirteen?"
"He did."
"Come on, let’s go together!"
Wen Zihua quickened his pace, eager to witness Cheng Yuan’s humiliation.
Fifth Elder had been walking at a steady, dignified pace, but since Young Master Zihua was rushing, he had no choice but to hurry along as well.
Soon, the group arrived before table thirteen.
Wen Zihua looked down his nose at Cheng Yuan. "Kid, I don’t know where you stole that invitation, but you’ve got some nerve sitting at table thirteen. Scram on your own, or I won’t be so polite."
Cheng Yuan asked nonchalantly, "Wen Zihua, you claim my invitation is illegitimate. Do you have proof?"
"Of course I have proof! My third uncle saw the Bear Medicine King just three days ago, and he only brought his assistant, no juniors! Just confess—you stole that invitation, didn’t you?"
Cheng Yuan shook his head slightly. "Wen Zihua, I’d advise you not to embarrass yourself. The Bear Medicine King personally delivered this invitation to my doorstep. If you don’t believe me, feel free to call him and ask."
"The Bear Medicine King’s phone is unreachable! Did you murder him? Men! Seize Cheng Yuan immediately!"
Fifth Elder obeyed the command, stepping forward and unleashing the formidable power of a Grandmaster Peak cultivator.
The surrounding crowd looked on with expressions of deep apprehension.
The Wen Family was truly worthy of being a first-class Ancient Martial Clan; a single one of its Elders was powerful enough to go off and found his own sect.
"Boy, are you going to surrender quietly, or must I make you?"
