Chapter 366: Even If You Weren’t Engaged, I Would Still Choose Xu Ke
Xu Ke was furious. He grabbed a chair, ready to charge.
Kong Xue knew Lei Hua’s cronies were vicious fighters. Worried Xu Ke would get hurt, she quickly pulled him back and shot Lei Hua a cold glare.
"Lei Hua, we were over the moment you got engaged! I have nothing to say to you! I’ll say it again: let’s go our separate ways and never see each other again! Please, stop harassing me!"
Lei Hua started spouting nonsense. "Xiaoxue, my dad arranged the engagement behind my back. When I found out, I adamantly refused. I fought against it, threatened to kill myself, and finally forced him to call it off!"
Kong Xue actually laughed.
"Lei Hua, I was with you for five whole years. I know exactly what kind of person you are! If you really didn’t know about the engagement, you would have explained it to me immediately. But it’s been half a month! Do you think I’m a three-year-old you can just lie to?"
Lei Hua’s expression flickered. Kong Xue knew him too well; fooling her wasn’t going to be easy.
"Xiaoxue, it’s not that I didn’t want to explain. My old man took my phone and grounded me! I had no way of contacting you!"
Kong Xue sneered again, not believing his excuses for a second.
"Whatever happened, what’s past is past. I’m Xu Ke’s girlfriend now. He treats me very well. He’s busy with work, but he still makes time for me every single day! He answers my calls instantly! And you? You used to disappear for days, ignoring my calls and texts. Even if you hadn’t gotten engaged, if I had to choose between you and Xu Ke, I would still choose Xu Ke."
Hearing this, Xu Ke was ecstatic. In that moment, he felt like the happiest man in the world.
Kong Xue’s words left Lei Hua speechless. It was true that there were many times he couldn’t conveniently answer calls or reply to texts.
But Lei Hua didn’t see it as his fault.
’What’s wrong with a man having a little fun on the side?’
’The one at fault is Xu Ke!’
’Xu Ke shouldn’t have stolen my girl!’
Lei Hua glared viciously at Xu Ke, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Kid, I’ll give you one last chance. Break up with Kong Xue right now and get the hell out of this room! If you do, I might just let you off this once! Otherwise, this day next year will be the anniversary of your death!"
Of course, Xu Ke wasn’t about to back down. "Lei Hua, who are you trying to scare? You think I frighten easily? Brother Yuan and I have been in scraps since we were kids! A skinny little monkey like you? I could take on a hundred of you!"
Lei Hua let out a sinister laugh. "If you’re any kind of man, Xu Ke, you won’t hide behind a woman! Don’t make me look down on you."
Xu Ke looked at Kong Xue, his gaze softening. "Xiaoxue, go stand over there. I don’t want you to get hurt."
Kong Xue looked at Xu Ke nervously. "Ke, don’t be reckless. Forget his goons, Lei Hua himself is a good fighter. He was the president of the Taekwondo club back in school."
"Taekwondo is all flash and no substance. Nothing to be afraid of."
With that, Xu Ke gently pushed Kong Xue into a chair, then turned to face Lei Hua. "Lei Hua," he said coldly, "if you’ve got any tricks..."
Before he could finish, Xu Ke’s expression changed dramatically!
’That despicable Lei Hua!’
’He sucker-punched me while I was helping Kong Xue!’
It had to be said, Lei Hua lived up to his reputation as the Taekwondo club president. His kicks were incredibly sharp and lightning-fast.
All Xu Ke saw was a blur before a vicious gust of wind rushed toward him.
Xu Ke instinctively raised his arm to block.
CRACK!
An excruciating pain shot through Xu Ke’s left forearm. An instant later, an unstoppable force slammed into him.
His already-fractured left forearm slammed hard against his own temple.
The force of Lei Hua’s kick was immense. Xu Ke stumbled back several steps before he could regain his footing.
Lei Hua slowly lowered his leg, as if he’d done something utterly trivial. "You call yourself Xu, and you dare challenge me with that? I really don’t know where you get the balls. It’s obvious you can’t protect Xiaoxue. Break up with her now, and maybe I’ll let you walk out of here alive!"
Kong Xue rushed over, her face etched with worry. "Xu Ke, are you okay?"
Xu Ke shook his head lightly, rubbing his nearly useless left arm as he glared at Lei Hua with pure fury. "A sneak attack? Could you be any more shameless?"
Lei Hua laughed. "This isn’t a boxing ring. What sneak attack? We’re mortal enemies. Was I supposed to give you a heads-up? The truth is, you just suck. You don’t know how to protect yourself! A guy like you..."
He didn’t even get to finish his sentence before his expression changed.
Because Xu Ke, seizing the moment Lei Hua had let his guard down, suddenly charged. He threw his good right fist straight at Lei Hua’s face!
Lei Hua instinctively threw a punch to block. Unfortunately for him, his fist didn’t connect with Xu Ke’s. It connected with an incredibly hard Finger Tiger.
CRACK!
The bones in Lei Hua’s hand fractured.
Lei Hua let out a bloodcurdling scream. "Xu Ke! You bastard! You sneak-attacked me with a Finger Tiger!"
A wild grin spread across Xu Ke’s face as he threw Lei Hua’s words right back at him. "You just said it, didn’t you? This isn’t a boxing ring. We’re mortal enemies. So what if I use a Finger Tiger? The truth is, you just suck and don’t know how to protect yourself. Eat this!"
Taking advantage of Lei Hua’s injury, Xu Ke pressed his attack.
Lei Hua didn’t dare block and could only retreat pathetically.
As he dodged, Lei Hua roared, "Are you idiots just going to stand there and watch? Get over here and help me kill this bastard!"
His cronies snapped into action, grabbing whatever they could find for weapons and charging forward.
Xu Ke was alone, and with one injured arm, how could he possibly be a match for all of them?
CRACK!
A steel pipe in one of the goon’s hands smashed down hard on Xu Ke’s arm.
Xu Ke’s arm bent at an unnatural angle. He cried out in agony and instantly lost all ability to fight.
Just as the goons were about to swarm and finish Xu Ke off, Lei Hua roared, "Liu San, get the Finger Tiger! I’ll kill him myself!"
"Yes!"
Liu San emotionlessly removed the Finger Tiger and handed it to Lei Hua.
Lei Hua slipped on the Finger Tiger and stared at Xu Ke with a glacial gaze. "You, Xu. I haven’t been injured in years! You’re a dead man today!"
With that, Lei Hua lunged at Xu Ke, his uninjured left fist hurtling toward Xu Ke’s face.
Both of Xu Ke’s arms were broken. With no way to fight back, he could only close his eyes and accept his fate.
Kong Xue, who was standing nearby, sprang forward like a crazed leopardess. She shoved Xu Ke aside and shielded him with her own delicate body, taking the brunt of Lei Hua’s attack.
"No!!"
"Don’t!!"
Xu Ke and Lei Hua both cried out in shock at the same time.
Xu Ke was helpless to save her, so frantic he was on the verge of tears.
As for Lei Hua, he was desperately trying to pull his punch, but he had thrown it with all his might and ruthless intent. There was no way to stop its momentum.
The gleaming Finger Tiger shot straight toward Kong Xue’s temple.
