Chapter 81: Car Accident
Meanwhile.
Gu Chen was terrified that Cheng Yuan would suddenly appear and kill him. He didn’t dare waste time waiting for the high-speed train. Instead, he requisitioned a car from the Gu Family’s Luocheng branch and sped directly toward the Provincial City.
To Gu Chen’s immense frustration, they kept encountering strange vehicles along the way.
In a short one-hour drive, they got into three minor scrapes!
If the driver hadn’t been so quick to react, they might have already ended up in a fatal crash.
Gu Chen was in a hurry, so he chose to settle privately. He couldn’t be bothered to argue or demand compensation. Since the other drivers were entirely at fault, they were happy not to get entangled.
Not long after the latest minor accident, the car slammed on its brakes again!
Gu Chen was jostled so hard he felt dizzy and nauseous. He cursed the driver out.
"Do you fucking know how to drive? If not, go home and change your kid’s diapers! You’re driving a perfectly good Maybach like it’s a goddamn bumper car!"
The driver felt wronged, but he didn’t dare try to explain.
"What are you waiting for? Drive!"
"Yes, sir!"
As they drove on,
a light suddenly flashed on the dashboard. The driver glanced down and saw that the car was out of gas.
"Young Master, the car is out of gas. Can we stop at the service area ahead to refuel?"
"Fine."
The driver carefully pulled the Maybach into the gas station at the service area. A staff member stared, stunned. ’Was this Maybach stolen?’
’It looks brand new, so why is it so banged up?’
The attendant told them to use the self-service pump, then found a hidden spot to call the police.
"This is the Haozhou Third Service Area gas station. There’s a suspected stolen Maybach here. The license plate is..."
While the attendant was on the phone with the police, the driver finished refueling, opened the driver’s side door, got in, and expertly started the engine before stomping on the gas.

’Why does the car feel a little heavy? Where’s that familiar feeling of being pushed back into the seat?’
The driver instinctively glanced at his rearview mirror, and his face turned deathly pale.
He had forgotten to remove the gas nozzle!

The Maybach, however, had no such switch. The flames spread along the hose like a Fire Dragon, racing straight for the car’s gas tank!
The driver’s scalp tingled with terror. He screamed, "Young Master! Get out of the car!!"
Gu Chen froze, but he quickly smelled the acrid stench of something burning. He instinctively turned his head to look, and his blood ran cold.
Holy shit!
’How is it on fire?!’
CLICK! Gu Chen threw the door open with surprising agility, diving out of the car and hitting the ground!
The next second—BOOM!
The Maybach’s gas tank exploded. The car became a massive Fireball, burning furiously!
The scene was so shocking that everyone froze. It took several seconds before the gas station attendants snapped out of it, grabbing fire extinguishers and rushing over to put out the blaze.
Gu Chen sat on the ground in a pathetic state, a look of lingering fear on his face. ’This day is just cursed,’ he thought. ’Why is it one disaster after another?’
"Young Master, are you alright?"
Gu Chen’s bodyguards rushed forward, forming a protective circle around him.
Gu Chen waved his hand dismissively. "I’m fine. Just incredibly unlucky. Figure out how much we need to pay in damages and pay it. Let’s go! We need to get back to the Provincial City. This day is too damned weird!"
"Yes, of course. Young Master, please get in the car."
There were five people in total, Gu Chen and his bodyguards, who had requisitioned two cars.
The bodyguards’ trailing car hadn’t had any issues, but Gu Chen no longer trusted the branch company’s driver. He plopped himself right into the driver’s seat.
"I’d better drive myself!"

The bodyguards couldn’t argue with Gu Chen, so they had to let him drive.
After paying the gas station tens of thousands in compensation, Gu Chen got behind the wheel and continued on his way.
This time, no new problems arose. Still, Gu Chen didn’t dare let his guard down, terrified that a car would suddenly dart out from nowhere.
As he drove on,
ahead, two large trucks were driving side-by-side, blocking the road.
Gu Chen was furious. ’Those two shameless truck drivers,’ he fumed. ’Driving so slowly on the highway, and side-by-side!’
Just as Gu Chen’s frustration was peaking, the truck in the fast lane finally began to accelerate.
Gu Chen immediately stomped on the gas, planning to overtake the moment the truck cleared the lane.
As he pulled parallel to the truck on the right, Gu Chen felt a sudden chill, and he shivered involuntarily.
The driver of the adjacent truck had been behind the wheel for over sixteen hours straight and was definitely driving while fatigued.
However, he had just downed two cups of strong coffee, which had given him a temporary boost. He planned to take a short nap at the next service area; it was getting too dangerous.
Suddenly, the truck driver shivered involuntarily. His eyelids felt heavy, and his head began to nod. He was about to fall asleep!
SCREECH.
The truck driver briefly lost consciousness. The steering wheel turned slightly, and the massive vehicle began to squeeze toward the Maybach driven by Gu Chen!
Gu Chen jumped. ’Does this truck driver even know how to drive?’
Gu Chen instinctively glanced over at the truck, and his blood ran cold once again.
He saw the truck driver’s head bobbing up and down—a clear sign of fatigue. The man was about to pass out at the wheel!
"Fucking hell! I swear, I’m running into every problem imaginable!"
Gu Chen instinctively wanted to slam on the brakes, but the car behind him had seen an opportunity to pass and was already speeding up. If he braked now, the car would surely rear-end him!
That would also be a fatal crash!
’What do I do?’
Just as Gu Chen was panicking, he heard one of his bodyguards roar, "Young Master, accelerate! Full throttle, punch through it!"
Gritting his teeth, Gu Chen floored the accelerator!

The Maybach’s speed surged to its limit!

The truck’s front was about to hit the Maybach. The bodyguards exchanged a look and roared in unison, "You will not harm the Young Master!"
They opened their car doors and kicked out violently at the truck!

Gu Chen’s mind reeled. He jerked the steering wheel, nearly losing control of the car, and only managed to straighten it out with great effort.
The next second, the shadow pounced on him. His body instantly turned ice-cold, as if a Demon had dragged him into the abyss!
Gu Chen instinctively tried to brake, but his foot slammed down on the accelerator instead!
BOOM! The Maybach smashed violently into the back of the truck ahead!!
Gu Chen’s vision went black, and he instantly lost consciousness.
