Chapter 214: I Am Your He Family’s Honored Guest
Divine Doctor Xue finally let out a sigh of relief. ’Ah, so that’s how it is.’
That had scared the life out of him!
’If Cheng Yuan were truly an omniscient, living Immortal, I’d be too scared to ever speak with him again.’
"Elder He, I have some good news. Divine Doctor Cheng is in the He Family’s reception hall right now, waiting in line to treat Miss He."
Divine Doctor Cheng was at the He Family’s residence?
The spirits of the He Family members soared!
Elder He turned and bellowed, "What are my subordinates doing? How can you let Divine Doctor Cheng wait in line? Send someone to escort him here at once!"
"Yes!"
A servant hurried out.
Elder He suddenly stopped the servant, then turned to He Hongting and instructed, "Wait. Hongting, you go welcome Divine Doctor Cheng personally! You must show him how much the He Family values him!"
"Yes, Father."
He Hongting suppressed his excitement and turned to Divine Doctor Xue with a questioning look. "Divine Doctor Xue, would you be willing to accompany me? And perhaps you could introduce me to Divine Doctor Cheng?"
He Hongting was the deputy director of the Central Organization Department, so naturally, Divine Doctor Xue didn’t dare refuse him. He replied amicably, "Of course. After you, Director He."
...
「In the reception hall.」
Hearing the conversation between Cheng Yuan and Divine Doctor Xue, Hu Shishi smiled. "What a small world. To think we’d run into Divine Doctor Xue here."
Cheng Yuan smiled faintly. "It seems we won’t have to wait in line after all. With Divine Doctor Xue as bait, we should be able to resolve this quickly."
Hu Shishi faltered. "Bait? What do you mean?"
Cheng Yuan smiled but said nothing. In truth, he had sensed something was wrong the moment he stepped into the He Mansion.
The He Mansion was located on the edge of the Imperial City and was protected by Dragon Qi. Even on the mere fringes of the Dragon Qi’s influence, one should feel a pleasant warmth and a sense of well-being.
Yet, Cheng Yuan felt nothing at all.
Cheng Yuan instinctively activated his Double Pupil to investigate and discovered that all the Dragon Qi in the He Mansion was surging toward the inner courtyard.
Pushing his Double Pupil to its limit, Cheng Yuan spotted a wisp of black aura in the inner courtyard, so faint it was almost imperceptible.
Cheng Yuan recognized what that black aura was at a single glance.
A Yin Curse!
And the most sinister kind of Yin Curse at that!
Yin Curses were different from Witchcraft. Witchcraft originated from the Ancient Great Witches and was a pure, unadulterated art.
Yin Curses, on the other hand, were pieced together by later generations from fragmented texts on Witchcraft.
As a result, Yin Curses were impure and much weaker.
To unleash power comparable to actual Witchcraft, one had to use extremely evil methods to fuel the Yin Curse.
For example, the Yin Curse afflicting He Jing required the sacrifice of at least seven young boys and girls!
’The one who cast this Yin Curse is utterly vicious, their crimes heinous. They deserve to die!’
Just as Cheng Yuan was planning his next move, a somewhat familiar voice suddenly rang out from outside. "Cheng, you’ve got some nerve! How dare you strut right into our He Family’s home?"
Cheng Yuan turned to see He Zhendong striding in with more than a dozen guards.
Cheng Yuan narrowed his eyes. "Ten Divine Realm Grandmasters and three Innate Grandmasters. One of them even at the Innate Grandmaster Peak! He Zhendong, you really flatter me."
He Zhendong sneered. "I have to. Go on, if you’ve got the guts, take another one of those elixirs that instantly boosts your Power!"
Cheng Yuan took out a Bursting Pill and tossed it in his palm. "You mean this? I don’t feel like taking it right now."
He Zhendong snorted. "Don’t think I’m a fool. Elixirs that grant instant Power are incredibly volatile. Your Meridians must be damaged, aren’t they? If I’m not mistaken, taking another one would make your body explode!"
Cheng Yuan shrugged. "Think whatever you like."
He Zhendong raised his bandaged hand and said coldly, "Cheng, since you walked right into my trap, don’t blame me for what happens next! Are you going to cripple your own limbs, or do I have to do it for you?"
Cheng Yuan was completely unfazed. "He Zhendong, let me remind you, I am currently an honored guest of your He Family. You’d best treat me with some respect. Otherwise, your elders won’t let you off lightly."
Honored guest?
He Zhendong burst out laughing.
"Cheng, I’ve investigated you thoroughly! You’re nothing but an ex-convict! You’re worse than a dog of my He Family! You, an honored guest? Don’t make me laugh! Retainers, seize him!"
"Yes, sir!"
The three strongest members of the Guard Team were the He Family’s retainers. They possessed the strength of Innate Grandmasters and enjoyed treatment equivalent to that of the family’s collateral members.
After receiving the order, the three sauntered toward Cheng Yuan, clearly not taking this so-called Quasi-God seriously at all.
Hu Shishi grew anxious. ’That’s three Grandmasters, with one at Grandmaster Peak! Cheng Yuan can’t possibly win!’
Hu Shishi quickly pulled out her phone and shouted, "He Zhendong! Do you want me to report this to the Dragon Lord?"
At the mention of the Dragon Lord, the three retainers stopped in their tracks and turned to He Zhendong with questioning looks.
He Zhendong laughed. "Miss Hu, do you really think I’d make the same mistake twice? Why don’t you check your phone? See if you have a signal."
Hu Shishi looked down. Her phone had no signal. The color drained from her face. "He Zhendong, you’re jamming the signal?"
He Zhendong said coldly, "What are you waiting for? Do it!"
With He Zhendong’s confirmation, the three no longer hesitated. They strode up to Cheng Yuan, looking down at him condescendingly.
"Kid, be smart. Kneel and apologize to our Young Master. He’s merciful; he might just spare your pathetic life."
The strongest retainer, Li Haichen, suddenly struck. His hand shot out like an eagle’s talon, aiming for Cheng Yuan’s shoulder, intending to force him to the ground.
Cheng Yuan wasn’t the least bit panicked. ’The Medicinal Power of the Bursting Pill hasn’t fully dissipated yet,’ he thought. ’I’ve got all this energy with nowhere to vent it. These guys’ timing is perfect!’
Cheng Yuan’s left hand snapped up, precisely grabbing Li Haichen’s wrist.
A look of disdain crossed Li Haichen’s face as he violently twisted his wrist, trying to fling Cheng Yuan off.
However, an astonishing power surged from Cheng Yuan’s hand!
CRACK!
Li Haichen’s wrist was crushed, and he let out a bloodcurdling scream. "AHHH!"
Of course, Cheng Yuan wasn’t about to let Li Haichen off that easily. He viciously kicked the back of Li Haichen’s knee.
THUD!
Li Haichen crashed to his knees!
At the same time, Cheng Yuan gave his right wrist a slight flick.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Li Haichen was turned into a human pincushion!
Overcome with shame and rage, Li Haichen instinctively tried to stand, only to discover in horror that his blood flow and Meridians had been completely sealed. He couldn’t muster an ounce of strength!
It all happened so fast that the other two retainers had no time to intervene.
They stared, wide-eyed in shock, their scalps tingling with fear.
’How is this possible?’
’The kid is just a Quasi-God, yet he subdued Brother Haichen in an instant?’
Seizing the moment while the two were still in shock, Cheng Yuan gathered all the remaining Medicinal Power and struck with his full force!
BOOM! BOOM!
Cheng Yuan’s fists, like sledgehammers, instantly shattered their defenses and slammed heavily into their chests!
The two men were sent flying, landing in a pathetic heap at He Zhendong’s feet.
As if he had just done something utterly trivial, Cheng Yuan looked at He Zhendong with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "He Zhendong, if you kneel and apologize to me now, perhaps... I’ll forgive your rudeness."
