Chapter 419: You Won’t Blame Grandma, Will You?
Jump into the trench?!
Everyone’s expression changed drastically. How were they supposed to survive that?
There were thousands of skeletons down there! Even if the Evil Qi from their bodies was starting to dissipate, they still possessed combat strength equivalent to a Martial Emperor or higher!
If each of them spat once, it would be enough to drown them!
Elder Li forced a bitter smile. "Young Master, there are far too many skeletons in the trench. If we jump down, it’s a guaranteed death. Could we perhaps..."
Cheng Yuan cut him off without a shred of mercy. "Not jumping is an option. You can take a hit from my Duan Jiang or Inverted Sea instead. I’ll let bygones be bygones for anyone who survives."
Everyone trembled instinctively. The Young Master’s Inverted Sea was too terrifying; it could obliterate them in an instant!
’It’s better to go down and fight for our lives! Maybe we can trade certain doom for a slim chance of survival!’
Elder Li was the most decisive of the group, and he was the first to jump!
The skeletons were instantly thrown into a frenzy, launching a mad assault on Elder Li!
With Elder Li leading the way, the others no longer hesitated, jumping into the trench one by one.
Cheng Yuan and the nine little girls sat on the edge of the stone platform, dangling their legs and watching the battle below with great interest.
At this moment, the roles of audience and performers had been swapped.
Cheng Yuan said cheerfully, "No wonder those guys had so much fun watching the show earlier. Spectating really is a blast!"
The nine little girls had shown no reaction when they faced the skeletons earlier. But now, upon seeing someone below being torn to shreds, a brilliant red light flared in their eyes!
The greediest of them, Xiaoqi, even began to drool!
If Cheng Yuan hadn’t been right there watching, Xiaoqi would have undoubtedly charged down without hesitation to devour the torn flesh!
Cheng Yuan noticed something was off with the nine little girls, and he couldn’t help but grow tense.
Before they broke through to the Ghost King realm, the girls could still suppress their instincts. Now, however, they were finding it difficult to keep them in check!
"Brother, I’m a little hungry."
Xiaoqi suddenly turned her head, her mouth splitting into a grin as she gave Cheng Yuan an eerie smile.
Cheng Yuan’s expression turned grave. He said in a low voice, "If you still consider me your brother, then you are absolutely forbidden from eating people!"
Xiaoqi pouted pitifully and gently shook Cheng Yuan’s arm. "Fine, we won’t eat! Don’t be mad, Brother!"
Xiaojiu was still drooling. "But the flesh and blood down there looks so sweet!"
Cheng Yuan knew something bad would happen if this continued. He had to recall them to his Sea of Consciousness. Perhaps under the pressure of his Spiritual Power, they would calm down!
"Time for all of you to go home! You’ve done a great service today. I’ll reward you with a whole roasted lamb when we get out of here!"
The nine little girls quickly shook their heads.
"No roasting! We’ll eat it raw!"
The corner of Cheng Yuan’s mouth twitched uncontrollably. ’Raw it is, then...’
SWOOSH!
Xiaoyi’s figure flashed, heading straight for Cheng Yuan’s Sea of Consciousness!
However, to Cheng Yuan’s surprise, his Sea of Consciousness suddenly produced a powerful resistance, blocking Xiaoyi from entering!
This surprised both Cheng Yuan and Xiaoyi.
Xiaoyi pouted pitifully. "Brother, do you not like me anymore? Why won’t you let me into your Sea of Consciousness?"
Cheng Yuan was just as puzzled. "I don’t know what’s happening either! It seems like my Sea of Consciousness is rejecting you. Try again. I’ll try to open it up."
"Okay."
Under Cheng Yuan’s control, the resistance from his Sea of Consciousness faded, and Xiaoyi finally entered successfully.
"Yay! I’m finally in! Brother, your Sea of Consciousness has gotten so much bigger! The energy inside has increased a ton, too! I can get stronger just by lying here! I’m so happy! Nngh..."
Xiaoyi jumped for joy, but a second later, disaster struck!
An incredibly sacred beam of Light Element energy instantly condensed above the Sea of Consciousness. Like a miniature sun, it illuminated the entire space!
Bathed in the Light Element’s radiance, Cheng Yuan’s Sea of Consciousness felt exceptionally warm and comfortable.
Xiaoyi, however, let out a muffled grunt as several small holes were seared into her body!
Unable to withstand the assault of the Light Element, Xiaoyi shot out of Cheng Yuan’s Sea of Consciousness and stared at him, her face filled with lingering fear.
"Brother, I finally understand why your Sea of Consciousness resisted me just now! Because you have comprehended the Celestial Dao of Light!"
Cheng Yuan frowned deeply. ’If the girls can’t stay in my Sea of Consciousness, what am I going to do? If I let them roam free, they’ll definitely be unable to control their craving for flesh and blood. They’ll end up on a killing spree!’
Sensing Cheng Yuan’s inner conflict, the cleverest of them, Xiaoliu, said gently, "Brother, there’s no need to worry. You have a much better place to keep us."
Cheng Yuan’s eyes lit up. "Where?"
"Your Jade Pendant!"
’The Jade Pendant?’
Startled, Cheng Yuan quickly pulled the Jade Pendant out from his robes.
Cheng Yuan activated his Double Pupil. Before, he could use it to see straight through the Jade Pendant, but now, he saw a gray, hazy space!
The space looked vast, about the size of a basketball court, and was filled with a thick mist.
Only a single, living-room-sized area was clear of the mist.
Cheng Yuan exclaimed in delight, "There’s really a hidden space inside my Jade Pendant! I never thought my Jade Pendant was actually a Storage Magical Treasure!"
"Brother, let us in!"
Cheng Yuan asked, "How do I do that?"
"Brother, you just need to use your Spiritual Power to open a door for us."
Cheng Yuan nodded, quickly concentrating his Spiritual Power to open a small door in the wall of the space.
The nine little girls swarmed inside, looking around the room with curious faces.
The room was sparse, containing only an altar. On the altar lay a lone Secret Manual.
Xiaojiu leaned in for a closer look and exclaimed in delight, "Brother, it’s the Celestial Witch Nine Extremes Technique Manual! And there’s a letter next to it!"
"Get them out here, quick!"
Xiaojiu chuckled. "Brother, this Storage Magical Treasure has already accepted you as its master through a blood bond. You can retrieve them with just a thought."
Cheng Yuan focused his will and felt a slight ripple in the space before him. A moment later, the *Celestial Witch Nine Extremes* and the letter appeared in his palm.
Any normal person would have examined the *Celestial Witch Nine Extremes* first. After all, it was an incredibly powerful Cultivation Technique; learning even a single move would drastically increase one’s strength!
Cheng Yuan, however, opened the envelope first, pulling out a sheet of slightly yellowed paper.
The moment the paper met the air, it burst into flames. A phantom image of a woman, bathed in firelight and looking both familiar and strange, appeared before Cheng Yuan.
"Child, what is your name? Are you one of Hongbing’s descendants?"
"My name is Cheng Yuan, Cheng Hongbing is my father. And you are?"
The woman stared intently at Cheng Yuan. "So, you’re my grandson. It’s a pity... I failed in my duty as a grandmother and wasn’t there to protect you. You don’t blame me, do you?"
