Chapter 1779 - 2081: Three Factions Gathering (2)
Seeing the short message Hu Fei sent via mobile, Ling Chen frowned slightly. During their previous call, Hu Fei had mentioned that due to some reasons, they needed to start their actions earlier. However, he didn’t expect it would be this soon. Hu Fei set their meeting time for the day after tomorrow, and the location in Beijing.
Should he go or not? Ling Chen was somewhat hesitant. Because the toxins in his body hadn’t been fully cleared, he dared not take risks easily. Yet, Hu Fei kept piquing his curiosity, and now he was quite intrigued by what the other party intended to do. After mulling it over, he secretly gritted his teeth. After all, it was just a few days away, it shouldn’t be a problem. Zhu Xiaozhu also said it would take at least five to six days to develop the antidote.
Right then, he called Ling Gengqiu, arranging for him to meet up in East Sea City first. Then, he went alone to the outside of Chen Junfeng’s room and knocked on the door. Hu Fei had said, apart from Ling Gengqiu, he could bring one more person. After considering it, it seemed that Chen Junfeng was the most suitable.
Although the seniors of Golden Dragon were stronger, Ling Chen preferred not to have them take risks with him, it’s better they stationed at Longhu Martial Arts Hall. Chen Junfeng was straightforward; as soon as Ling Chen spoke, he agreed without asking too much.
Before leaving, Ling Chen had a meeting with Hu Fei. It had been days, yet there were still no updates on Tang Shiyun and Xu Hong, so not worrying was a lie. Besides Tang Shiyun and Xu Hong, Ling Chen casually asked Hu Fei to keep an eye on Nanrong Wanqing. Although he already had the method for deep hypnosis experiments, Bai Zhangqiu needed more time to be fully familiar and operate it. Before that, he must keep Nanrong Wanqing in East Sea City, not letting Jiang Yue’e take her abroad.
After arranging everything, that night, Ling Gengqiu took a flight back to East Sea City. After resting overnight, the next morning, the three prepared and headed straight to Beijing. Near noon, Ling Chen, with Ling Gengqiu and Chen Junfeng, arrived outside an estate on the outskirts of Beijing, the designated meeting place by Hu Fei.
Just after stepping out of the car, someone came briskly from the gates of the estate, precisely Tian Xiong who they had dealings with before.
"Mr. Ling, long time no see." Tian Xiong greeted with a smile.
"Mr. Tian, hello. Is everyone here?"
"Just missing you three. Come on, I’ll take you in first." Saying this, Tian Xiong glanced at Ling Gengqiu and turned to lead them into the estate. Reaching the villa at the center of the estate, he slowed down and turned back, "Everyone’s inside, you can go straight in."
Ling Chen asked, "Aren’t you coming in too, Mr. Tian?"
"Mr. Ling, you’re joking. I’m not qualified to attend such occasions, so I’ll wish you a safe journey in advance." With that said, Tian Xiong cupped his fists towards Ling Chen and the others, then returned to the estate entrance.
At this moment, Ling Gengqiu took the lead, walked straight ahead, and pushed open the villa’s door. As he entered, Ling Chen followed and glanced inside, seeing that the spacious living room was filled with many people, some with familiar faces.
Chen Younian, Chen Qinghua, both core fighters of Netherworld Snake, were present, with a stern-faced middle-aged man standing behind them, hands clasped behind, looking composed and calm. Opposite Netherworld Snake was the inviter for this action, Hu Fei. Holding a cup of tea, he was chatting with Chen Younian. Hearing footsteps from the door, he turned around and came over with a smile, "Hello, Mr. Ling, very pleased to meet you."
Ling Gengqiu looked at him, "You’re Hu Fei?"
"That’s me." Hu Fei nodded, then shifted his gaze to Chen Younian, "No need for introductions between you, I suppose?"
Chen Younian smiled faintly, "Ling Chen, you’re really good at hiding, who would’ve thought you had this connection with Ling Gengqiu."
"Mr. Chen is joking; we all have our secrets."
"Alright!" Hu Fei interjected, "Since everyone is here, let’s get to the point." With that, he made a gesture to a man beside him, who knowingly took out a metal detector.
Seeing the thing in the man’s hand, Chen Qinghua spoke sternly, "What’s the meaning of this?"
"As the saying goes, better safe than sorry." Hu Fei explained, "I ask for your cooperation since this operation is significant, and I don’t want any trouble midway. So, before starting, please hand over your phones and any electronic devices. I don’t want our traces to be tracked by others. You’re all smart people, I’m sure you understand."
Hearing this, Chen Younian and Ling Chen both had unpleased expressions. Honestly, while they were interested in the operation Hu Fei mentioned, they were more concerned about their safety. Moreover, Netherworld Snake and Dragon Tiger Hall are major forces in Martial Arts, they definitely have their ways to secure safety. For Ling Chen, before leaving, each of them carried more than two trackers. This way, no matter where they go, Hu Fei at the base could locate them through the trackers.
Hu Fei asking them to hand over their electronic devices was undoubtedly to sever their contact with their people. If danger occurred during the action, there’d be no rescue. Hence, both Chen Younian and Ling Chen were resistant to Hu Fei’s suggestion.
Seeing that neither side responded, Hu Fei spoke, "Everyone, I know this request is a bit much, but it’s for confidentiality. As for safety, honestly, if this operation fails, no matter how many come, we can’t be rescued."
"Mr. He." Chen Younian said, "From the start until now, you’ve been mysterious, not disclosing the real purpose of this trip. We’re all set to go, don’t you think it’s time to reveal something? Otherwise, how are we supposed to trust you?"
"This..." Hu Fei hesitated, seemingly reluctant to speak. Observing this, Chen Younian stood up, "Since Mr. He wants to keep secrets and not speak truthfully, then there’s no need for us to risk with you. If our lives are at stake, wouldn’t it be too unrewarding. Elder Ling, what do you say?"
Ling Gengqiu nodded, "While we’re all still here, you’d better make things clear, we don’t want to blindly follow you on an adventure."
Seeing the firm stance of both sides, Hu Fei responded, "Alright, I’ll be honest. Over the years, have you never wondered about the changes happening within you? I believe you must’ve secretly researched, but with no results."
"Do you have a discovery?" Chen Younian interjected.
