Chapter 1816 - 2118: Netherworld Snake’s Objective (3)
"Well..." Manager Li hesitated for a moment and said, "Let’s not bring up this issue for now. I want to ask, does Mr. Hu know what he plans to store in our company? If Mr. Hu wants to store money, then you should go to the bank. Our company..."
Before the other party finished speaking, Hu Fei interrupted him, saying, "I lack everything but money. To me, money is just a pile of waste paper with no point in storing it. As for what I want to store, that’s my personal privacy and secret. Your company just needs to help me keep it, does it need to be so clear?"
"Mr. Hu is right, it’s my fault." Manager Li smiled awkwardly.
"I’ll be honest with you, I have dealt with more than one company like yours. I know your business operations clearly. The reason I store my belongings in different companies is to ensure absolute security. If you think there’s no problem, feel free to offer me a quote. Price is no issue, my primary concern is safety."
"Rest assured, Mr. Hu. I’m not boasting; anything stored in our company will absolutely not be lost," Manager Li said with confidence. "Our company has been operating for decades, and the reason we attract so many clients is precisely because our service is satisfying. As for our company’s fees... Mr. Hu, we charge an annual management fee of two million. Additionally, there are fees for the company’s vaults, which vary based on the level, ranging from five million to ten million annually..."
Upon hearing this, Hu Fei directly pulled a bank card from his pocket and tossed it to Manager Li, saying, "There’s eighty million in here, I’ll store for five years, no need to return the extra, consider it a tip. However, I have an additional request."
Manager Li promptly said, "Please go ahead, Mr. Hu."
"I want to personally see your security measures. No matter how good your words are, they won’t be as convincing as me seeing for myself. Manager Li, is there a problem?"
"Of course, there’s no problem." Manager Li nodded with a smile, "You’re not the only client to make such a request. Please wait a moment, I’ll have my staff prepare."
After finishing a cup of tea, about ten minutes later, Manager Li guided Hu Fei and Ling Chen to the room next to the general manager’s office. Once inside, Ling Chen immediately noticed that the walls were covered with a layer of steel plates, and even the door was explosion-proof. Moreover, there were ten security personnel inside, and a huge screen displaying surveillance footage of the entire building.
"Mr. Hu, I’m sorry, but entering the vault requires a security check. Please cooperate."
Hu Fei nodded. Two security personnel immediately approached, thoroughly searched them, and collected mobile phones and other electronic devices. After confirming neither was carrying anything else, Manager Li led them to an elevator.
After entering the password and undergoing retinal verification, the elevator door slowly opened.
"Mr. Hu, this is the only elevator that leads to the vault. As you have seen, aside from those with double credentials, no one else can access the elevator."
As he spoke, the elevator slowly reached the bottom. Hu Fei was about to step out when Manager Li pulled him back.
"Mr. Hu, don’t rush," Manager Li said, pointing outside the elevator. Ling Chen looked carefully and realized there were infrared beams outside the elevator. If not for Manager Li’s intervention, Hu Fei would have already triggered them.
"This is our first line of defense. If anyone touches the infrared sensors, the entire vault will be locked down." Manager Li said, taking out a walkie-talkie and speaking briefly to someone inside, and the infrared sensors were immediately disabled.
After exiting the elevator, Ling Chen glanced around, noticing the metallic floor covering the more than one-meter-wide corridor, and even the walls were thick steel. Once inside, it was virtually impossible to get out alive.
As they walked, Ling Chen saw numerous safes, different from the small safes outside, more like bank-level vaults with a sealed space only a few square meters in size and doors at least twenty centimeters thick.
"Manager Li, is this all steel underneath?" Ling Chen pointed to the floor and asked.
"Exactly. We poured molten iron into the base. Once the elevator shaft is sealed, this is a fortress, and no one can get in."
"Very good." Hu Fei nodded with satisfaction, "That’s settled. I’ll send the items here tomorrow for you to keep safe."
"No problem."
Shortly after, accompanied by Manager Li, Ling Chen and Hu Fei left the building.
Returning to the car, Hu Fei unbuttoned his suit, exclaiming, "Did you see that? Damn, banks’ vaults are nothing compared to this. If I had anything valuable, I’d definitely store it here."
"Nonsense! Have you seen how much they charge? It’s all my money, and you’re generous, treating the extra as a tip." After a brief complaint, Ling Chen got back to the point, "Do you think we can silently enter the vault?"
"I advise you to let it go; it’s impossible." Hu Fei shook his head, "I noticed the place is hard to infiltrate, unless you get control of the elevator. But with so many people outside the elevator, you’ll definitely be discovered. Netherworld Snake probably doesn’t know the inside situation, hence the silly idea of digging a tunnel."
After pausing, he continued, "Overall, it’s not going to be easy. Entering the vault is just the first step. You have to know what we’re looking for, then open the vault, and after completing all this, you still need to find a way out. If you ask me, let’s not waste our effort. If what’s inside is important to Netherworld Snake, they’ll find a way to get it. In that case, we can lay an ambush nearby, and the moment Netherworld Snake acts, we surround them and seize the item."
"That’s the only way."
Ling Chen pondered repeatedly, and indeed saw no better option than Hu Fei’s suggestion.
"By the way! Their company should have a list of depositors. If we can get ahold of that list, we might learn who owns the item."
"Their company’s security system is surely not connected to the internet; it can only be accessed via internal network intrusion. If I can get into their company’s server, I might find a way to obtain it." At this point, Hu Fei seemed to think of something and couldn’t help but smile, "Why don’t we work together again like before?"
