Chapter 1730 - 2032: Besiege Wei to Rescue Zhao (Part 1)
"Daughter, trust your mother. I won’t harm you. Everything I do is for your own good." Staring at Nanrong Wanqing lying on the hospital bed, Jiang Yue’e took out a syringe and drew all of the No. 6 reagent into it. Then, without a trace of hesitation, she aimed the needle at Nanrong Wanqing’s arm and injected the entire reagent into her daughter’s body.
After injecting the No. 6 reagent and waiting a few minutes, she injected an auxiliary reagent into Nanrong Wanqing’s body. Afterward, she pushed a medical instrument to the bedside and held two fine wires in her hand. At the ends of these wires were needles as thin as strands of hair.
As the two needles pierced Nanrong Wanqing’s head, her body immediately trembled, but not severely enough to be life-threatening. Watching the data on the instrument, Jiang Yue’e pulled out a small keyboard from it and started typing skillfully.
After more than ten minutes, seeing Nanrong Wanqing gradually calm down, Jiang Yue’e pulled out the two needles and tenderly caressed Nanrong Wanqing’s forehead.
"Good girl, get some rest, you’ll be fine soon."
...
In the blink of an eye, three days passed.
At the Hongyu Group headquarters, Ling Chen drove a car and parked at the entrance, then took the elevator straight to the top floor. Passing the chairman’s office, Ling Chen glanced inside, seeing it empty, he turned to the vice president’s office. Without even knocking, he directly pushed the door open and walked in.
At this time, in the spacious office, Nanrong Hao, dressed in a suit, was sitting at his desk handling documents. Seeing Ling Chen come in from outside, Nanrong Hao quickly stood up to greet him, asking, "Chen, why are you here?"
"Where’s your sister?" Ling Chen asked. "I’ve called several times over the past few days, but no one answers."
"Chen, don’t mention it, I haven’t seen my sister for a few days either, and her phone can’t be reached. It’s not just my sister, I haven’t seen my mother either."
"Did they leave together?"
"I don’t know." Nanrong Hao shook his head and said, "My mom’s phone is off and can’t be reached either." He paused and then continued, "Usually when my sister goes out, she brings Captain Zhong and the others, but this time it seems like only my sister and my mom went out, without anyone with them."
Ling Chen frowned slightly, "Didn’t they inform you?" A couple of days ago, after Nanrong Yong’s birthday banquet, he wanted to invite Nanrong Wanqing out to stroll around, but her phone was continuously unreachable. Later, he called Zhong Wei to inquire, and Zhong Wei told him Nanrong Wanqing wasn’t at home, and even they didn’t know where she went. Because of this, he rushed to ask Nanrong Hao.
"They didn’t say anything. Chen, could my mom and sister have run into some trouble?" Nanrong Hao was a bit worried.
Ling Chen thought for a moment and proposed, "Since you can’t find your sister, you might as well alert the authorities. They haven’t been heard from in over forty-eight hours, so you can officially file a missing person report."
"Alright then." Nanrong Hao nodded, took out his phone from his pocket, and prepared to make an emergency call. However, at that moment, his phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Nanrong Hao’s face lit up, saying, "It’s a call from my mom." Saying that, he quickly answered, asking urgently, "Mom, where are you and sister? ... Oh, okay, I understand... Hello? Mom, mom..."
Hearing the busy signal from the other end of the phone, Nanrong Hao helplessly looked at Ling Chen, "My mom hung up the call."
"What did she say?"
"She said she and my sister have gone abroad. There was an urgent matter at the company that required their immediate attention. She also mentioned they would be busy during this time and might not be in touch with the family often, so we shouldn’t worry."
"That’s it?" Ling Chen asked perplexed, "Even if they’re busy, is there no time at all to take a call? If they were going abroad, the least they could do was inform us."
Nanrong Hao had a strange expression, "I feel something’s not right."
"Not right? What’s not right?"
"My mom said she went abroad, but it seemed like she called me from somewhere busy, and the background noise didn’t sound like it was from abroad."
Ling Chen squinted, asking, "Are you sure?"
"There shouldn’t be any mistake." As he spoke, Nanrong Hao dialed Jiang Yue’e’s number again. But when calling back, the number showed that it was turned off and unreachable.
"It’s off."
"Just called you, how could it be shut off so quickly?" Ling Chen nodded to himself, "Looks like you’re right, there’s definitely an issue here. Do you have contacts abroad? Call and ask to see if they really left the country."
"Okay." Nanrong Hao agreed and immediately contacted the company abroad.
A few minutes later, he put down the phone and said, "I asked, they haven’t gone back. Moreover, my sister has a very important meeting tomorrow and, according to her previously scheduled itinerary, she should have gone today, but the company hasn’t been able to reach her." Saying this, he looked at Ling Chen, "Chen, what do you think my mom and sister are doing? If they are in danger, my mom should have told me during the call."
"Perhaps they’re doing something important that can’t be disclosed to others."
"But I’m her son, why would she keep it from me?"
Ling Chen responded, "Your mom she..." Just as he was about to speak, a sudden phone ring sounded from his pocket.
"I’ll take this call first." Ling Chen took out his phone, glanced at the caller ID, then answered, "Fatty, what’s up?" Whatever Hu Fei said on the other end, Ling Chen’s expression immediately darkened.
"Are you sure? ... Alright, I get it. Wait there, I’ll be right over." After hanging up, Nanrong Hao, standing nearby, asked, "Chen, what’s wrong?"
"For now, don’t worry about your mom and sister; I’ll figure out a way to investigate thoroughly." After a pause, Ling Chen added, "I have other matters to attend to; for now, we’ll leave it at this. I’ll contact you once there’s any news."
"Alright."
From the Hongyu Group, Ling Chen directly drove to the base. Once there, he hurried to the main control room to meet with Hu Fei.
"Fatty, show me the footage."
Hu Fei nodded, pulled up a surveillance video from the computer. Watching the footage on the screen, Ling Chen’s brows furrowed into a tight line.
"When was this recorded?"
"Three days ago," Hu Fei said, "This intel was submitted two days ago, but there were so many things, I only got to watch it today."
