The Best Assassin, Incarnated into a Different World’s Aristocrat
Episode XVI: Assassins unravel the magic of love
When I woke up my body, Marha was sleeping next door.
Safe and loose face, it's been since we lived together to see these faces.
In her case, she always decides numbingly and rarely shows gaps, feeling smiled.
"... would Tart, Dia, and Marha have died if they hadn't met me? Though I knew it, there's something to be told in person."
It's easy to say destiny like that, but it's no longer a doll that can be so severed.
I was reincarnated into this world to stop the rampant epona.
But looking at Marha's sleeping face makes me think she was reincarnated to save them.
"Good morning, Brother Lug"
Wake up as Marha rubs her eyes to sleep.
I guess I'm just tired.
I made Marha like me at first, but I led the way in the second half.
As I thought, studying alone had its limits, and Marha regretted that.
And the losing Marha was desperately trying to study these things as well.
"Morning, Marha. Is your body all right?
"It's not okay.... Brother Lug messing with you"
I'll see it with my jito eyes.
Even though it was my first time, I made it a little too rambling.
Too much love, my reason flew away.
"I'm sorry. I'll make you some tea."
"No, I'll do that. Because brewing Brother Lug's tea is the most important job for me."
"You did."
When the three of us lived there, most of the chores were the work of Tart, a dedicated servant, but it was Marha's job to make tea.
Marha gets up and goes straight to the kitchen when she weaves her room clothes.
It also features a luxury inn with a kitchenette. I don't have that in every room when it's a regular inn.
The tea smells good.
I hear a knock and a basket plugs in from under the door.
Inn breakfast service. It's a good time.
Marha has been collecting the basket as she brings the tea over here.
"Let's make it breakfast"
"Right, yesterday I was exercising and I'm hungry"
"Brother Lug usually says that kind of uncle stinks even though he's cool. Sexual harassment?"
Uncle smells... a little hurt.
"Be careful"
"Yeah, that's how it is. I want Brother Lug to be cooler than anyone else."
Marha smiles and I smile back too.
I'll have a cup of tea, as always, Marha's tea is a peace of mind in every corner.
And a sandwich.
... Surprised, I didn't expect much but it tastes pretty good.
"You're using Maruille bread."
"You got it very well. I'm buying that bread over here, and the ingredients inside are fancy. This inn is for the upper class."
Maruille and I lived in Murteau in one of the city's leading bakeries.
Besides, this bread seems to be getting delivered what I baked this morning. I see, that's just the inn Marha chose.
Let's remember about this inn.
"Well, my stomach's settled, and I'm going back to work... Actually, there was something I needed to tell you"
That said, Marha gives me an envelope with paperwork.
And I look right through it.
"This is... suspicious"
"Yeah, it's very suspicious. Local intelligence is ordering an additional investigation."
Marha's dossier contains information about an anomaly occurring from here in the city northwest, in a rather large city called Birnol.
Recently, with frequent earthquakes, there have also been more than a dozen missing persons in a month.
Not only that, but the line I'm using for my communications network is dead.
Um, the tart wielded my knife, and it's a magically enhanced replacement that couldn't be cut.
At present, the communication network over there is in a ring configuration, and even if one side is cut, it is not in trouble because it is possible to communicate around the reverse, but it is an anomaly in itself that such a thing will be cut.
Something is happening, combined with the fact that the missing person is.
"Maybe it's the Demons. That's pretty smart, too."
"What do you envisage?
"Until now, I would have killed the helminths and the lions and the fleshy demons to keep up, wouldn't I? So I read that the Demons use vigilant and tangled hands. All you can think about in this case is secretly preparing for a mass slaughter, and if it's over, you'll kill all the people in the city in an instant. And after I make [the fruit of life], I run before the troublesome guy comes along. That's the kind of hand I've hit. That's what I think."
Without a little more information, I can barely cavity the city's basement, for example, and collapse it all at once... With those hands, earthquakes are now frequent, and sometimes we can kill all the city's inhabitants in an instant.
"Right. As far as the Helicopter Demon Clan thing is concerned, there is a few days of respite from the end of the killing until [fruit of life] can be done. But if you can kill everyone in the city in an instant, this one can sense things and finish them all by the time they rush... I might think so."
Yes, normally a case occurs - do an investigation - contact a person who can handle it - when the corresponding person rushes, it takes a few days for each process to rise.
If the Demons had prepared for what I had assumed, they would have fled with [fruit of life] without even having to exchange it.... yes, if not me.
"I think the information network you make is excellent."
But I'm the only one out of that common sense.
If there is anything in this country, it is instantly perceived on the information network and rushed during the day by flying.
No matter how demonic, I don't know about it.
That's why we can make it.
"And there's something I really care about."
"Say it"
"How could the Demons only show up in the Kingdom of Alvan? Think normally, if you avoid a fight, how safer would it be to target a country without brave men and Brother Lug? A lion in an oak, a worm in a helmet, and three demons went after this country. So, if the Demons are really causing this anomaly, it's the fourth body, right? Obviously, I just think they're targeting this country unusually, intentionally."
"I was wondering that, too. I dared think I was after all this country because the purpose of the Demons was to lure the brave men out and kill them. In fact, that Orc Demon clan said it was clearly intended to kill the brave. But even though you're trying not to run into a brave man or me like this one, it's strange to show up in this country."
As far as past literature goes, only one country could continue to be attacked.
That is why the neighbouring countries are trying to attach a promise to the Kingdom of Alvan that something will lend the brave.
If only the kingdom of Alvan would be attacked, I would not do that.
The emergence of the Demon Nation and the Demon King is a disaster that takes place in centuries, each country has its own know-how. The Demons should be able to strike in any country, as each country prepares itself for the attack.
Yet I don't try to.
This means that this is the only time an Irregular exists and for some reason it cannot be aimed at anything other than the Kingdom of Alvan.
"You don't have enough ingredients when you have the information. First, gather information while dealing with immediate problems....... thanks. With this paperwork, we can move a lot."
The quickest way to ask about the Demons is to ask the Demons.
Fortunately, I have that in mind.
"It would have been nice to have been able to help. I'll be back in Orna when I take a shower. I have an important meeting at noon."
"You're busy."
"Right. But because that's my role. It's very hard, but I'm proud to help you."
That's what I said and disappeared.
... a good woman.
I think so again.
Well, I'll do my job.
◇
I've been back in Tower Hard ever since.
He was trying to make contact with the Snake Demon Meena while letting him investigate a city where demon-like things were leaping.
Besides, I'm just finishing up a lot of things.
"Good day, Master Lug"
"Again, you're pulling."
"Looks like you've both finished your training today."
Kokuri, Tart and Dia nodded.
The two of you are making the final adjustments to the homework I was giving you when I left.
"What is Rugg doing?
"Oh, now it's an after follow up to Count Frantrude, who helped me in the trial"
"Oh, that's it. That's it. You've grown fond of Lug dressed as a woman. What are you gonna do?
"I'm delivering a letter as Lou. I can safely return to the realm and I want to see you. I'll be in King's Landing in two months, so I've been waiting for you."
The letter is written in a feminine handwriting.
These are assassin skills, too.
"That's just buying you time."
"That's enough. During the course of two months, several exchanges of letters will be made.... in that exchange, subtly removing Lou's words, behaviors, preferences, and habits from Count Frantrude's ideals, making them more and more deviant from Count Frantrude's contemplative ideal woman. You can bet, but by the time it's been two months, love is awake. And then, if we meet in person and create a little trigger, we're done with our love."
Swinging unilaterally from Lou's side, Count Frantrude could be self-inflicted.
So you make time first, little by little, distorting your feelings for Lou.
And at the end of the day, let him shake it from the other side.
"Oh, my God, you're a pain in the ass."
"He worked well for me. And I'll give you the prettiest way to finish it. It's a way of ending with nothing left to reassure you that your love is over."
A person's mind is easy to transfer.
Not to mention that the love born between Lou and Count Frantrude is a dramatically performed transient one.
You realize that you are not the ideal person by knowing little about each other and the parts you didn't know, and you lose interest in them by understanding them.
"Dear Lug now, I'm a little scared... you know, I've always liked Lug, even if he made me cold"
"Tart is worrying. I thought I might do what I just said."
"Um, well, I don't think Master Lug would dump me. It's just, you know, just getting a little scared."
"You don't have to panic so much. It's natural emotion to be scared of someone who blows people's minds like this... it's my sweetness to be telling both of these things. I can talk to you because I believe you'll accept me like that."
I just don't show my back face if I just want to be liked.
Still, I show it because I believe in the two of you, and to tell the two of you that you're okay with me worrying about Lou.
"Yes! I'm fine"
"If that's what makes you hate me, I haven't liked you since I started."
"Right."
I smile and finish writing.
I put it on the leg of a biographical pigeon.
This biographical dove does not belong to Towaharde, but was given to Lou by Count Frantrude.
He wouldn't even think the biographical dove he gave away to carry love would bring him a goodbye.
The white dove wings and rises to the sky.
That concludes the case of Count Frantrude.
Make a cough.
"Tart, Dia, I'll have my homework submitted tomorrow. Stay with me."
The next thing I know, the new power they've gained while I'm gone, I'm going to let them see it.
