Chapter 1373 - 1370: Subtle and Imperceptible Awareness
Such a subtly influenced consciousness already exists and has become deeply ingrained, unable to fade away.
Three days later, the morning air began to feel oppressive, which, in early summer, was inevitably a prelude to the arrival of a storm.
Emerging from the bathroom, Qiao Junlie looked refreshed in his black suit, tugging at the golden tie around his neck. The gloomy weather did not disturb his cheerful mood in the least. Thinking that Zi Ruoxi might still be asleep, he tiptoed past the bedroom, ready to leave directly, when a gentle call reached him from behind.
"Qiao Junlie." Like heavenly music drifting in the air.
Qiao Junlie halted his steps, turned around, and quickly walked to her side, carefully observing her still slightly lazy face.
"Darling, if you’re feeling tired, have a good rest." Qiao Junlie’s caring voice. He ended by adding, "The weather’s bad today, so don’t go to the studio. Stay home and rest well, wait for me to come back in the afternoon. We’ll go see an opera together, okay?"
"Opera?" Zi Ruoxi asked in confusion, surprised that he had such a hobby? How come she never knew?
Qiao Junlie stroked her hair, having long noticed her doubts.
"Want to know more about me? Ha ha, I particularly enjoy Spanish and Italian operas. Wagner’s operas like ’Rongrin’ and ’The Famous Singer’, ’Aida’, those are quite good." Qiao Junlie explained simply, paused, then, with a charming smile on his handsome face, continued, "Tonight, ’The Country Knight’ opera by Mascagni will be performed by the Spanish singer Domingo. You can’t miss it! It’s remarkable!"
Zi Ruoxi thought for a moment, then slightly nodded her head.
Qiao Junlie bent down and lightly kissed her soft lips. But soon let go, unable to resist flicking her smooth and water-like cheek.
"Be good, I’m leaving now. There’s a meeting this morning." After saying that, looking at the woman on the bed who seemed as gentle as water, he was immediately tempted to lavish her with affection once again, his blue eyes flashing mischievously, "Dear, wait for me to come back obediently, and we’ll have a good showdown three hundred sixty times tonight."
"You big scoundrel!" Zi Ruoxi blurted out, her cheeks turning bright red.
The moment she finished speaking, a wicked gleam flickered in his blue eyes.
"Owww~~" Qiao Junlie let out a strange laugh and leapt forward, immediately covering her delicate body completely.
After a fierce attack, Qiao Junlie temporarily halted, his mouth still holding a moist and delicate touch, satisfied, he stood up, habitually brushed away the brown hair from his forehead, hands in his pockets, walked out the door with a smile.
...
After Qiao Junlie left, Zi Ruoxi couldn’t fall back asleep. She tossed and turned on the bed, thinking persistently.
What did he say earlier, he liked listening to opera. Hmm, looks like I don’t really understand this Young Master.
Yes, in the past, they both lived their own lives without much interference from each other, and now, it seems like the two of them are merging into one. How much more wonderful and mysterious things does he have about him? Ha ha, I should pay more attention to him.
But, living off him isn’t possible. Yesterday, being coaxed by him, I didn’t go to the studio, if I don’t go out today, I fear the clients will stamp their feet in anger.
Thinking of this, Zi Ruoxi hurriedly got up and dressed up, wearing a denim-colored short skirt with a lace court-collared white blouse, plus a sharp black trench coat, matched with shiny leather boots—a trendy girl indeed.
Weimannasi Design Company in the USA
Zi Ruoxi was concentrating on reviewing the design drafts from her assistant Miss Chen over the past few days. As for Zhang Hua, who graduated from Boston University majoring in fashion design, although she did not have the notable fame of Zi Ruoxi, who won awards at international competitions, her drafts were still quite insightful and were greatly appreciated by Zi Ruoxi. From time to time, Zi Ruoxi entrusted her entirely with the cases she took, while she only handled the review portion.
As a result, Zi Ruoxi was considerably relieved. This meant she had more time and energy to fall in love and go crazy every day and night with Qiao Junlie. It’s not that Zi Ruoxi deliberately or willingly did this; it’s just that Qiao Junlie is incredibly adept in that aspect, engaging in several hours of activity every night, leaving her with weak legs the next day.
Thinking of this, Zi Ruoxi found herself distracted, her eyes staring at the drawings, her thoughts had long drifted away, her face intermittently displaying the appearance of twilight-like tides.
"Knock knock knock... knock knock knock..." A series of rhythmic knocking sounds. It instantly pulled her mind back from her thoughts.
Zi Ruoxi collected her wayward expression; what happened just now, why would she think of those chaotic thoughts. Hmm, this was quite different from her usual personality. Since when did she gradually change unconsciously.
"Come in, please!" A crisp voice.
The door opened, and the person who walked in surprised Zi Ruoxi.
Suddenly, a kind of surprise appeared on her incredibly beautiful face.
"Brother Qiao Muyun?! It’s really you!" Zi Ruoxi exclaimed, unable to hide her joy, immediately standing up, coming to him, seeing Qiao Muyun still standing stiff at the door, Zi Ruoxi gently took his arm, smiling, pulling him to sit on the nearby sofa.
"Brother Qiao Muyun, when did you come back? Why didn’t you call? Right, aren’t you doing rehab in Country G? How is your leg, is it still having problems? Uh, and Aunt Yun, you don’t need to worry about her..." A series of questions poured out without knowing which was the key point. After asking a lot, Zi Ruoxi felt lost, became a bit clumsy, even noticed Qiao Muyun just watching her with a smile, not saying anything, suddenly she felt embarrassed and blushed.
"Our Zi Ruoxi has grown up, now you know how to blush." Qiao Muyun said with warmth.
Being remarked by Qiao Muyun, Zi Ruoxi couldn’t help feeling a bit shy.
Afterwards, the two had a warm chat, for some reason, the familiarity still remained familiar, but there was a sense of lacking inner emotional substance. Zi Ruoxi also, intentionally or unintentionally, kept a respectful distance from him. Although it was out of sight, in every smile and nod, it made Qiao Muyun feel a slight pang.
After a while, silence enveloped the space, solidifying the air. Neither of them spoke, which, in the past, wouldn’t be strange at all, as both Zi Ruoxi and Qiao Muyun enjoyed quietness and had extraordinary rapport, often understanding each other’s thoughts without speaking. But now, today, it seemed different. It’s hard to pinpoint where, same people, same environment, yet a different mindset altogether.
