Chapter 91 Homelander’s Movie Viewing Notes

Times Square, the largest IMAX theater.

Homelander kept his word and rented out the entire theater.

He used his X-ray vision to check the projector three times to ensure perfect image quality, then personally tasted the popcorn, ordering a bucket each of the salty and sweet varieties.

For his dear son, the all-powerful Homelander was willing to play the role of a service worker for once.

"Ryan, sit down properly, the movie is about to start!"

Ryan held a popcorn bucket bigger than his own head, his eyes shining like stars, twinkling and sparkling... Ahem.

Homelander leaned back in his seat, feeling satisfied.

He was also looking forward to his good brother’s movie.

He heard he was playing the villain.

That’s a sure win!

How could a villain be more powerful than a superhero!

"Parallel Crisis" — Starting now!

The pitch-black sky tore open, and a golden figure slowly descended from the clouds.

The figure hovered in mid-air with his hands behind his back.

The movie was in a flashback style.

The scene switched to Lucas wearing his battle suit, kicking off the ground and taking flight.

Homelander’s brow furrowed slightly.

Pigeon-toed takeoff!

What does that mean?

When Lucas flew, his toes were slightly curled inward, as if he were stepping on a pile of shit and twisting his foot.

And he had his hands behind his back.

"What kind of thunderous flying pose is this?"

Homelander muttered, "What idiot would fly like this? It’s hideous."

Ryan was already laughing like a pig.

"How did Guardian come up with this move! It’s a bit clumsy!"

Homelander let out two dry chuckles.

Who flies with their hands behind their back? It ruins combat flexibility.

On the screen, Wonder Man landed in a plaza, spreading his arms to enjoy the adoration of the masses.

But in the crowd, one person wasn’t clapping.

Wonder Man’s smile froze instantly.

He slowly turned his head, two beams of red light igniting in his eyes, instantly roasting the pedestrian who didn’t clap into a pile of charcoal.

Then, he put back on a brilliant smile, as if nothing had happened.

"Why aren’t you clapping? You’re not giving me face!"

"I deserve to be loved!"

"By everyone."

Wonder Man said gently.

Homelander, however, couldn’t laugh.

What does that mean?

"Dad, this villain is so twisted. Just because someone didn’t love him, he killed them in public!" Ryan was getting excited.

This is so interesting!

Everyone is used to the righteous narrative style of superheroes; starting from an anti-hero perspective is absolutely explosive!

"Yeah... it is pretty twisted."

Homelander’s smile was struggling to stay on his face.

The person on the screen was undoubtedly Guardian.

But why did this person being portrayed make his back feel cold?

What does that mean?

The movie continued.

The camera shifted; Wonder Man was alone in a dim room. He opened the fridge and, looking furtive, pulled out a bag of...

Isn’t that fucking Mothers Milk?

If you’re going to drink Mothers Milk, just drink it properly!

Why be so sleazy about it?

Homelander had a bad feeling. Sure enough, the next shot cut to a mother holding a child.

Her chest... was exaggerated!

What was in that bag was clearly freshly squeezed...

Wonder Man tasted it first, then, like an addicted junkie, cradled the bag and slurped it all down in one go.

His face showed a hint of aftertaste, along with a kind of near-sacred satisfaction.

"Gulp."

Homelander’s Adam’s apple bobbed subconsciously, and he inadvertently licked his lips.

"Hahahaha!!!"

"Holy shit, drinking Mothers Milk! This is too abstract!"

Ryan was cracking up.

"Dad! How can there be such a ridiculous person in the world! As a superhero, his fetish is actually drinking Mothers Milk!"

"Ha... haha... yeah... how can there be such a ridiculous person?"

Homelander’s face stiffened.

What’s wrong with drinking Mothers Milk?

Haven’t you ever had any!

That’s a... a very normal way to relieve stress, okay!

Why should I be mocked by the whole world?!

...

...

Homelander stared fixedly at the screen. For some reason, watching Wonder Man always gave him an extremely absurd, yet extremely familiar feeling.

This villain...

How...

The more I look, the more familiar he seems?

No, no, no!

Impossible!

This is just a coincidence!

Homelander desperately tried to justify it to himself; how could he possibly be this terrible?

In the next scene, because his approval ratings dropped, Wonder Man hid on the rooftop of Vought Tower and roared at the air, "I’m the fucking strongest! I do whatever I want, and no one can stop me!!!"

Getsuga Tenshou!

Homelander didn’t really want to watch anymore.

This is too much, this is too much! When did he ever stand on a rooftop and do a Getsuga Tenshou?

That’s something only a freak would do!

Is he a freak?

He only occasionally kills a couple of politicians, assassinates some terrorists, and drinks a little Mothers Milk, that’s all!

What’s the big deal?

Did I eat your rice?

Homelander’s temples were throbbing.

The climax of the movie featured Wonder Man battling two righteous heroines.

Maeve and Starlight.

Seeing the two of them, Homelander subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.

The righteous always defeat the villains; this is the main narrative of movies.

Wonder Man, that pathetic bastard, will definitely die at the hands of the heroes, absolutely!

Homelander shifted his butt back.

However!

At the last moment, Wonder Man grinned and swung a sharp, ruthless hand blade.

Maeve couldn’t dodge in time and could only push Starlight into the time-space tunnel.

The heroine with wine-red long hair had her head fly off on the spot.

Clean and efficient!

Starlight opened her mouth wide, only able to watch helplessly as the time-space tunnel slowly closed.

Wonder Man’s pair of scarlet eyes seemed to pierce through time and space, leaving the deepest impression on Starlight.

Manic.

Ruthless.

Devoid of humanity.

This was the Wonder Man portrayed by Guardian.

"Guardian is so strong!!"

Ryan waved his fists. He had assumed the villain would die at the hands of the heroes—that’s the standard ending for most movies on the market—but Wonder Man was an anomaly.

Towards the end of the movie, he even felt a bit reluctant.

Unexpectedly, Wonder Man suddenly exploded into action, saying that just now he was just playing with them, and now it was daddy’s turn to perform, and then he slashed the opponent to death.

"Although he played the bad guy, it was so cool! How can there be such a pathetic yet terrifying guy in the world! This villain was acted so vividly!"

"Yeah... yeah..."

Homelander pulled out a smile that looked worse than crying.

...

The movie ended.

Homelander personally escorted the still-eager Ryan back to Becca.

On the way, Ryan imitated the famous scene from the movie, pigeon-toed with legs together, and then took off.

"Dad, does it look like it?"

Ryan flew in the sky with his hands behind his back.

Homelander was a bit surprised.

"Ryan, when did you learn to fly?"

"Huh? I learned a long time ago!"

"You clearly never told me!"

"But Guardian knew, I thought he told you!"

Homelander: "..."

"Flying with hands behind the back is really cool, so stylish!" Ryan landed and nodded seriously.

The corner of Homelander’s mouth twitched.

"...Ryan, that’s not how you fly."

"That’s how they flew in the movie. I’ve decided, from now on I’m flying with my hands behind my back!"

Homelander: "..."
