After extending Old Money’s life, Edgar called again.

"Guardian, I have someone here I’d like to introduce to you." The old fox was as calm as ever.

Lucas leaned back in his chair lazily. "Who is it? They must have quite the status to get your attention. Which little boss is it this time?"

Not long after, Edgar personally brought someone over for a visit.

It was an exceptionally young-looking woman who appeared to be of Middle Eastern descent, with a capable and composed demeanor.

Neuman?

Neuman’s daughter must be several years old by now, yet the mother has managed to stay so young and charming. Interesting!

Lucas took a few extra looks.

"Guardian, this is Neuman. She currently works in Congress!"

"Not bad." Lucas raised an eyebrow. "A congresswoman who is actually a hidden Supe!"

The woman stiffened slightly, a flicker of shock passing through her eyes.

Her identity was hidden extremely well; apart from Edgar and the child’s biological father, no one else knew. Could Edgar have revealed her identity to the Guardian?

"The Guardian’s abilities are even stronger than Homelander’s. It’s no surprise he can see through your true nature!"

Edgar, having seen his fair share of the world, specifically explained.

Neuman understood.

"Mr. Guardian, Congresswoman Neuman has always been a very important ally of ours. This time, she managed to advance her career further thanks to the Little St. James Island incident, and that’s all thanks to you!"

Neuman nodded politely at Lucas. "Hello, Guardian. I’m Neuman!"

"Hmm."

Lucas responded indifferently. "What’s your superpower? Use it on me. Let me see what you’ve got."

Huh?

Neuman was stunned, a flicker of hesitation crossing her face.

She instinctively looked at Edgar.

Her ability wasn’t some parlor trick; it could easily make someone’s head explode, even a Supe’s.

Edgar, however, nodded. "Whatever the Guardian asks you to do, just fulfill it to the best of your ability. He is the most powerful Supe on the planet, bar none!"

Upon hearing this, Neuman felt slightly more at ease.

She took a deep breath, locked her gaze onto Lucas, and her eyes suddenly rolled back.

Under normal circumstances, the target’s head would explode like a ripe watermelon.

But Lucas didn’t even twitch an eyebrow.

He looked around for a while, then looked at Neuman with a confused expression.

"What’s wrong? Constipated?"

"Use your ability."

Neuman: "???"

Neuman continued to increase her power output, channeling her strength frantically and focusing on Lucas’s head.

I’m using every ounce of my strength, dammit!!

Yet no matter how hard she tried, Lucas’s expression remained completely unchanged.

"How is this possible? Why can’t my ability affect even a single red blood cell of yours?" Neuman looked shocked.

It felt like hitting a massive mountain with all her might.

From the overexertion, Neuman was the one who couldn’t hold on, and two streaks of blood flowed from her nostrils.

This... is he even human?

Lucas withdrew his gaze, not bothering to look at her again. Neuman’s ability probably couldn’t even affect the four women around him.

"Alright, enough talk."

Lucas propped his feet up on the desk. "Edgar, what exactly are you trying to do by introducing this young lady? I don’t like guessing what people are thinking!"

Edgar didn’t beat around the bush either.

"Congresswoman Neuman is a rising star in Congress! She wants to advance further and needs your support, Guardian."

"Support?"

Lucas raised an eyebrow. "That wouldn’t be difficult, but why should I help her?"

Edgar was momentarily speechless.

"For your sake?"

Lucas shook his head. "Edgar, I’ve already given you enough face! Who single-handedly brought Vought to the heights it enjoys today? Shine my shoes!!"

To Neuman’s astonishment, Edgar actually bent down and began to shine Lucas’s shoes.

It’s not shameful, child!

The old-timers act even more excessively than I do!

"If you’re asking me for a favor, you should at least offer some benefits."

Lucas took a sip of cola. "I might not care about benefits, since I lack for nothing these days, but you can’t be ignorant of the rules. You need to show some attitude at least!"

Edgar’s expression stiffened.

You don’t even care about the old-timers’ hundreds of billions of dollars; what kind of bargaining chip can I possibly offer?

"Guardian, you lack neither money, nor women, nor power these days. How should I show my sincerity? Perhaps you could give me a hint."

Lucas glanced at Neuman.

This woman was better at reading the room than Edgar.

She would align herself with whoever could protect her—a character who was known for flip-flopping in the original series.

This kind of person is impossible to buy off.

She’s not even as loyal as Ashley!

As for what he wanted...

Lucas couldn’t really say for sure at the moment.

He lacked nothing.

"Mr. Guardian, perhaps I can do one thing for you." Neuman stepped forward.

The woman quickly threw out her bargaining chip. "I can establish an administrative agency for you, specifically dedicated to serving your various operations, such as fighting crime."

"This agency can provide legal endorsement for all of your actions."

Lucas gave her another look.

Not bad, she’s got some brains!

Unfortunately, he was already playing a bigger game. As long as Ashley succeeded in her position, whatever Lucas wanted to do would have the President’s personal endorsement, making everything reasonable, legitimate, and justified.

You’re just a small-time congresswoman; what kind of weight do you carry?

Do I need you?

However, since Edgar and his daughter came voluntarily to pledge their allegiance, there was no need to slap them in the face.

"Your agency is too small-time; I don’t need it. But let’s just consider today a way to get familiar with each other. I don’t mind doing Edgar a favor!" Lucas said indifferently.

"But remember, when the day comes that I need to use you, you’d better know how to behave. Understand?"

Neuman nodded solemnly at once.

"Rest assured, Mr. Guardian. Neuman is at your beck and call at any time."

Lucas then looked back at Edgar. "How about that?"

"I owe you a big favor." Edgar said sincerely.

"Heh."

Lucas was dismissive. "Edgar, you already owe me plenty of favors. Prepare to pay them back with your hook!"

...

Lucas had been idle for a few days.

After so many years, he had been a bit too diligent and really couldn’t sit still.

So, Lucas remembered the Weapon Forging Module given by the system.

He was becoming increasingly curious about what kind of worlds those few travel opportunities would take him to.

Might as well go collect some materials.

Time to sleep then.

Just as Lucas was preparing to go find the two women for a battle, he sensed a faint, almost imperceptible psychic fluctuation in the air.

"Annie and I are off to catch a shoot. Tonight’s activities will have to be saved for later, we’ll talk about it when we get back!"

Maeve and Annie suddenly seemed to remember something.

The two women immediately put on their clothes and hurried out in a rush.

Oh ho!

Little Cate is trying to turn the tables, is she!!
