Chapter 154 Lucas: Grandfather, you should be grateful you don’t have a mother.
"Time to go back, System!"
Main world, Midtown Manhattan.
Lucas woke up with Cate and Jordan by his side, the scene still bearing the remnants of the wild night before he left.
He glanced at the system panel in his mind.
[Bloodline Rank: Emperor]
[Current Combat Power: Stellar Level]
[Core Powers: Omega Beams (Absolute Tracking, Molecular Reconstruction, Causality Erasure), Super Speed Healing(Self), Super Speed Healing, Biological Perception]
[Current Evolution Points: 728,335 / 2,000,000]
"Tsk, a two-million-point threshold for advancement. When will I ever reach that? Relying solely on squeezing resources from the main world is too one-sided!"
Lucas didn’t say much more. (Not that he didn’t have anything to say.)
He adjusted the time flow of the Game of Thrones world to one-third of the main world’s; for every three days that passed in the main world, only one day passed in Game of Thrones.
And whenever he left the main world, time in the main world would pause, and the Game of Thrones world would pause along with it.
...
The next day, 10:00 AM.
Lucas was already sitting in his office early in the morning. Jordan and Cate were lounging on the sofa, chattering away while watching spongebob squarepants. Lucas had his feet up on the desk, drinking a soda and eating a burger.
The Game of Thrones world had one downside: there was no fast food, and the staple foods were sickly sweet and greasy.
It was thanks to that high-calorie diet that King Robert Baratheon was able to balloon into a wild boar so quickly after becoming king.
"Next time I leave, I’ll have to stock some food in my ring!" Lucas muttered.
Cate glanced over. "Leave? Where are you going?"
"We have another session tonight, you know. You wouldn’t want Annie and Maeve and the others to..."
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
Forget it!
He shouldn’t have kids in this world yet. With so many outrageous examples like Homelander and Soldier Boy, he couldn’t imagine how much his own child would be corrupted by these bastards if they were born.
Who knows, one wrong move and the kid might grow up twisted.
"Guardian!!"
Ashley suddenly knocked and entered.
"Two minutes ago, Homelander had a... rather unpleasant conversation with me. He didn’t seem very stable, and furthermore, Homelander specifically asked for you to go see him!"
"Since when is it my turn to go see him? I’m not going. If he wants to see me, tell his mother to come see me!"
Lucas had a lazy expression on his face.
"Um, sir! For the past two days, Homelander has been staying in Brooklyn. It seems he obtained some... dirt on you!"
Ashley said suddenly.
Lucas glanced at her. "Tell me, Ashley, did you pry into Homelander’s mind?"
Ashley looked embarrassed.
"Sir, I didn’t mean to listen, it’s just that he’s been acting a bit strange these days..."
"I’m not blaming you, Ashley. I’ve always known you have some little quirks, like naming your toys ’Guardian’ and such. I really don’t mind..."
Lucas waved his hand.
"Ugh!" Even Jordan thought that was outrageous.
Ashley was even more embarrassed; she suspected that Guardian could also read people’s minds.
On the top floor of Vought Tower, the wind was howling.
Homelander stood with his hands behind his back, his cape fluttering in the wind. He had waited on the rooftop for a full hour without seeing a sign of Lucas.
"This is too much!"
"Simply too much!!"
"Does he even consider me a friend?"
[Homelander — Emotional Fluctuation: Anger, Grievance, Resentment of being betrayed, Spite...]
[Evolution Points Gained: +64,823]
...
Interesting!
The system panel popped up with a notification; Homelander’s Evolution Points had increased again.
But what did this betrayal mean?
What has that idiot been up to lately?
"Hey, Ashley, where has that idiot Homelander been making his fortune lately? Has he started selling flour in Brooklyn too?"
Ashley had intended to say something.
But seeing a floating figure outside the window, she clamped her mouth shut instantly.
"Speak up!"
Lucas urged.
Ashley frantically signaled Lucas with her eyes.
"Guardian, Homelander is outside the window!" Ashley communicated telepathically.
Lucas didn’t care at all. "Since when do I have to worry about him?"
Homelander couldn’t take it anymore and smashed through the glass in one go.
However, what struck him as strange was...
It was one thing for Lucas to be indifferent, but even Ashley, Jordan, and Cate—the three women—didn’t show much shock. Cate and Jordan were still discussing what to do in the afternoon.
"Ladies, could you leave for a moment? I have something to say to Guardian!"
Homelander suppressed his anger.
Cate looked at Guardian, but Lucas didn’t nod; he just kept eating his burger and drinking his soda.
"John, didn’t your mother teach you to knock before entering someone else’s home?"
"Oh, right, you don’t have a mother!"
"Well, you should be thankful you don’t have a mother, otherwise I’d make her fly right now!"
Lucas took a moment to glance at Homelander.
He was a father now too; why bother coddling another giant baby?
John needed to be more mature, like a powered-up Patrick Star.
"Guardian!!"
John’s handsome, golden-haired face was so gloomy it looked like it was about to drip water.
"Please call me Regent, kid. Do I have to pay you to change how you address me? That burger is yours!"
Homelander actually subconsciously glanced at the burger.
Lucas immediately put the remaining burger into his drawer. It was just a figure of speech, and he actually took it seriously!
Why should I give you my burger!
Homelander floated slowly to Lucas’s side, a hint of mania deep in his eyes. "You’ve been working with Butcher all along, right?"
Oh ho!
Has Homelander finally investigated Butcher?
Lucas didn’t say a word.
Seeing him like this, Homelander assumed Lucas’s silence was an admission of his betrayal.
"Why!"
"Why betray me!"
"I treated you like a brother. In this world, only you can understand my existence. We are almost equally powerful..."
Lucas interrupted him directly. "Stop! Stop! Stop! What do you mean we are almost equally powerful?"
"John, since the moment you walked in, I’ve already spotted three problems!"
Lucas floated up and clenched his fist casually.
The sonic boom created by his grip caused the whole room to roar, and John was blown right out the window.
Conversely, Jordan, Ashley, and Cate remained completely unharmed.
Their ecological niches had already surpassed Homelander’s.
"What the fuck!"
Homelander’s face was full of disbelief.
Since when had Guardian become this powerful? He could create a sonic boom just by clenching his fist and even blow him away.
"Oh, you clumsy John!"
"Has that barren brain of yours been fucked by an idiot?"
Homelander’s eyes lit up with red light, but the light in Lucas’s eyes was even brighter and more blinding than his.
It was an extremely ferocious power.
It felt as if being hit by it would erase one from existence at the source.
Homelander’s Heat Vision vanished.
But Lucas’s didn’t. He floated in front of Homelander with his hands behind his back, his glowing red eyes fixed on Homelander.
"I’m asking you, John. I know you didn’t have a mother growing up, but answering someone’s question is a basic moral necessity!"
"N-no!"
Homelander suddenly felt like he had spoken too loudly.
"Didn’t hear you. You want to be a superhero speaking that quietly? Speak up! I can’t hear you!!"
"I said no!!"
Homelander roared.
"Still can’t hear you!!"
"No! My brain has not been fucked by an idiot!!"
Lucas withdrew his Omega Beams. "John, I originally wanted to communicate with you as an equal, like a normal superhero, but sorry, I’m done pretending! I’m showing my hand! I’m your daddy!"
Homelander’s face was full of disbelief.
He even tilted his head to look at the window; the glass reflected two figures.
Lucas was speechless.
"I’m not talking about a father in the biological genetic sense. I’m talking about ’daddy’ in colloquial terms. This isn’t that kind of father, but a form of verbal abuse, a psychological directional attack!"
"So you were insulting me?"
Homelander suddenly realized.
"Son of a bitch!" Lucas blurted out. "Do you understand now? I am insulting you. Who told you to go find Butcher to investigate what happened next?"
"You’ve ruined all my fun!"
"Pay up!!"
John looked bewildered. Wait, brother! I came here to confront you! Do you have to be so unreasonable!
