The Boys: Viltrumite Evolution Panel

Chapter 255 Barry Returns

The operation unfolded rapidly.

Everyone arrived at an open area on the outskirts of Central City, and Cisco used a modified Rocket launcher to fire the quark sphere into the void!

Rumble!

Nothing happened.

There was nothing in place; the quark sphere had disappeared, but Barry Allen also failed to return.

"Cisco, shouldn’t something be happening?" Iris turned her head to look over.

Cisco clutched his head, "That’s not right! The idea should be correct. Could some steps have gone wrong? I am checking the calculation formulas, and the conclusions drawn are all consistent. Barry Allen should have been brought back!"

Just at this moment, Lucas suddenly vanished.

On a certain street in Central City, a bus was driving past when it was suddenly enveloped by a wormhole. Following closely, a bolt of lightning darted out from within, running rapidly around the periphery of the city, and many witnesses saw the long-vanished orange lightning.

This was Barry Allen; nowadays, he was full of stubble, his eyes were dull, yet his entire body emanated terrifying energy fluctuations.

"You guys go back to the laboratory first; I have already found Barry Allen." Lucas left directly.

Everyone could only comply. Half an hour later, Lucas brought Barry Allen back.

Barry Allen was out of his mind, constantly muttering all sorts of gibberish in his mouth, and doodling various symbols haphazardly in the room. These symbols did not look like hieroglyphs either, because they lacked any logic.

But Lucas understood the meaning within them. Those texts were a future language; translated, they were fragments written by Barry Allen about future events, even including records of major events.

But Barry Allen himself was completely unaware, and others could not tell either.

"When will Barry Allen be able to return to normal? I’m afraid he can only stay in a cell like this." Iris was very worried.

Henry, who rushed over closely following behind, also tried his best to communicate with Barry Allen, but consistently failed to awaken Barry Allen’s sanity.

"Lucas? Do you have a way?"

Caitlin walked to Lucas’s side, subconsciously hugging his arm.

Lucas was stroking his chin, locating the passengers on that bus. Those passengers had all transformed into Meta-humans. At the same time, DeVoe dispatched the first assassin, beginning to wreak havoc in the city.

"Barry Allen will recover on his own. Iris, use your love to awaken him; after all, you are his lightning rod!"

Lucas turned around and vanished.

Inside a dim Base, the room was filled with densely packed electronic screens, along with various neural conduction cables. All these things were connected to a single seat, and the Thinker was sitting upright on a hovering wheelchair.

He was Clifford DeVoe.

DeVoe and Barry Allen became Meta-humans on the same day. His brain development had reached an extremely high degree, and his computing power even surpassed the total sum of all supercomputers of all humanity.

However, this frail mortal flesh could simply not bear such a massive mental load; DeVoe’s muscle tissue was rapidly shrinking and necrotic at an extremely fast speed.

"Everything is within calculations..."

On DeVoe’s withered face, a nearly morbid smile emerged.

His wife stood by his side like a considerate assistant.

"Barry Allen foolishly thinks that with the wisdom of his companions, he has escaped the cage of the Speed Force... yet he does not know that from the very second Cisco conceived the quark sphere, every tiny formula variation has been within my deduction."

"The twelve Supes on that bus are the new vessels and power ladder I tailored for myself."

"I will step by step strip and plunder the powers from them, and finally eliminate the Flash. I will make this World a better place and have humanity become inspired by me!"

"I will bring a new enlightenment to the entire World, making them reshape and evolve!"

A fanatical Fire of wisdom flashed in DeVoe’s eyes; he had even calculated the Flash Team’s patrol routes for the next thirty days, as well as the probability of failure or success for each operation.

In his view, he stood high in the clouds, taking heaven and earth as a chessboard, viewing all living beings as mere grass.

This was the Thinker.

"...The Thinker’s ambition swelled to its peak at this moment. His rational thinking had suppressed his own emotions to a state of near non-existence, to the extent that... deep within his heart, he had killed his once-emotional self! That pitiful woman! She was like a lost lamb, viewing her husband as her only one, but her husband had died on the night of the particle accelerator explosion years ago..."

Lucas used the tone of an observer to summarize DeVoe’s personal biography on the side.

The Thinker was indeed infallible in his calculations, but he could simply not calculate Lucas. Lucas’s existence was a kind of existence that the physical and spiritual World of mortal limits could not survey at all.

He was a lifeform higher by several dimensions.

All cause and effect in the mortal World, the past, present, and future, were merely a static scroll in his eyes.

DeVoe thought he was standing in the atmosphere, but actually he was on the first floor, while Lucas stood at the Universe layer.

"A self-righteous human scholar, attempting to use the avatar of a god to enlighten and civilize humanity, yet this thought merely germinated in a single thought. For such a person, I suggest he read a few more books by Old Marx..."

...

On the other side.

Barry Allen had just been displaced, his sanity was still in a state of nonlinear spacetime, the whole person was utterly dazed, and crisis followed closely behind.

On a bustling avenue in the downtown area, a samurai draped in heavy, pitch-black armor descended from the sky, surrounded by high-energy electromagnetic beams. As the mechanical blade slashed, the external defense system of S.T.A.R. Labs was forcibly torn open with a gap.

It came specifically for Iris; Iris didn’t even have time to cry for help before she was snatched away.

"Alarm! Iris’s phone is moving rapidly! Heading towards the suburban wind power plant at Supersonic speed!" Cisco shouted hard in the communication channel, and Kara quickly arrived.

But someone was faster than him.

Inside the special cell, Barry Allen’s originally lifeless eyes suddenly constricted, and bewilderment was replaced by sanity!

"Iris!!"

Snap!

Needing almost no power accumulation, lightning of the Speed Force several times more violent instantly erupted from Barry Allen’s body surface. That reinforced glass cell, sufficient to imprison a Supe, with an isolation device similar to a Faraday cage built inside, was forcibly shattered by Barry Allen.

Facts proved that the cells of S.T.A.R. Labs could not trap a powerful Speedster.

Swish!

Barry Allen didn’t even leave everyone time to breathe. In the blink of an eye, he swept past the battle suit on the equipment rack, transforming into an aurora as he rushed out of the laboratory’s underground tunnel.

"Oh my god... This speed!" Cisco stared fixedly at the numbers on the surveillance screen, his two hands pounding on the keyboard until sparks flew, "Three thousand miles per minute... Four thousand miles?! The Mach number is still jumping up! He is countless times faster than before he entered the Speed Force!"

Outskirts of the city, wind power plain.

Dozens of giant wind turbines reaching up to a hundred meters tall slowly rotated their slender blades in the night wind.

The electronic samurai’s soles spewed tail flames, hovering mid-air. One mechanical arm choked Iris’s throat, while its scarlet electronic eyes continuously scanned the surroundings.

"Let her go!!"
