Chapter 44 My multi-million dollar business is about to go down the drain!
Lucas had only been dominating Annie January for two and a half hours.
She had already cast all questions aside, focusing entirely on the battle before her.
For a Supe, this was just an appetizer.
But just at that moment, Lucas’s phone rang.
He picked up the phone, "Busy with something, do not disturb."
Annie January wasn’t very comfortable lying down, so she turned over and laid on her stomach.
A few seconds later, the phone rang again.
"Damn it, do you believe I’ll blow your head off?"
Lucas answered the phone, and Starlight barely managed to catch her breath.
"Guardian, I know that reproduction is very important for the development of human civilization, and the heat generated in that instant creates a large amount of high-energy protein, but we need a powerful torque right now!"
The person calling was unexpected to Lucas; it was Queen Maeve.
"Your ability to organize language is comparable to an adult bicycle. I’m very heated right now, and I’m about to explode, you know that?"
Faint screaming could be heard from Queen Maeve’s side, along with Homelander’s occasional attempts at comfort, but from his tone, one could tell he was already suppressing his laser eyes.
The two of them seemed to be carrying out a rescue mission.
"There’s a job that needs you to make a trip," Queen Maeve summarized.
"Does it pay?"
"Uh, you will gain the gratitude of nearly two hundred people, as well as my personal friendship."
"That won’t do. I currently have a billion-dollar business deal that’s about to go down the drain, I don’t have time to chit-chat with you."
Lucas hung up. Starlight pressed her hand on Lucas’s shoulder, golden light flickering in her eyes.
"Maeve doesn’t call easily; she must have something urgent."
"I already told you, it’s a billion-dollar business..."
Not two seconds later, the phone rang again. Lucas was just about to turn it off, but when he saw it was Homelander, he answered.
"Hey, brother, help me out!"
No way, Homelander! I haven’t seen you for a few hours, how have you become so pathetic?
"Brother, you are Homelander, how can there be a problem you can’t solve?"
Lucas was still in the mood to chat, but Homelander on the other end was so anxious he was about to turn to ash.
"Come quickly, we’re on a plane, and terrorists have hijacked it."
"Are these terrorists all Supes on average to dare to hijack your plane?"
Queen Maeve’s voice sounded next to Homelander, "Cut the crap, get over here!"
"There are children here. If you can save the people, I’ll do anything you want!"
Lucas’s eyes lit up. Oh? Anything at all?
Lucas leaped out from the apartment balcony, a sonic boom exploding behind him, and he instantly arrived at an altitude of 30,000 meters.
At Mach 30, it took him less than twenty seconds to lock onto the target.
A Boeing 767 was falling rapidly toward the Atlantic Ocean.
The left engine had completely flamed out, and the right one was emitting black smoke, barely still running.
The nose’s cockpit had been cut open, and the plane’s instrument panel was completely destroyed; one look and it was clearly Homelander’s handiwork.
The entire fuselage of the plane was trembling violently. Lucas slowed down, hovering beside the plane, and used his X-ray vision to take a look inside.
One hundred and thirty-seven passengers were in extreme terror. Most were curled up in their seats, and there were two terrorist corpses in first class.
A rescue operation that should have been a walk in the park had been turned into this by Homelander.
Homelander and Queen Maeve stood together. Maeve wanted Homelander to lift the plane, but Homelander had no leverage in the air, and unlike Lucas, he didn’t have a Bio-field, so if he wasn’t careful, he would punch a hole through the plane like it was tofu.
The wind howled. Lucas, like a deity, tore open the cockpit door and slipped inside.
He turned around and welded the cockpit door back into place. This action was pointless, but he was happy to show off in front of others.
"Brother! You’re here!" Homelander looked delighted to see Lucas.
Queen Maeve breathed a sigh of relief. With the two of them working together, they should be able to save this plane.
"What’s the situation?" Lucas asked.
"The control system is paralyzed, the engines are wrecked; this plane is just a piece of scrap metal now," Queen Maeve said quickly.
Lucas glanced at Queen Maeve. "What was it you said on the phone just now?"
Queen Maeve paused. "Huh?"
"You said, you’d do anything, right? You said that."
Queen Maeve’s expression was subtle, and Homelander also looked strange. "Is this the time to discuss this?!"
"Of course it is. What if I remembered wrong? Say it again."
Homelander quickly intervened, "Hey brother, you might not know this, but we used to date for a while, and, you know... plus, don’t you have Starlight?"
Lucas told Homelander to go comfort the passengers, and he crossed his arms and looked at Queen Maeve. Queen Maeve gritted her teeth.
The plane was still falling, and the altitude had dropped to 6,000 feet. Inside the cabin, those two little girls were watching them.
"Yes! Anything! Hurry up and save the people!"
"That’s what you said." Lucas smiled. Then he turned and flew out through the hole in the cockpit.
Homelander leaned in, "You agreed to give it to him?"
Queen Maeve snorted indignantly, "You two are birds of a feather, neither of you is any good!!"
Lucas flew directly under the plane, adjusted his posture, and expanded his Bio-field outward from his body surface.
The entire plane was covered, and the plane’s falling speed began to slow. Lucas felt like he was holding up a leaf.
The little girl by the window leaned against the porthole and saw the scene below. A black figure was holding up the plane, looking completely relaxed and at ease.
"Oh my God!" Something even Homelander couldn’t do was easily achieved by Guardian?
More and more people leaned against the windows to look. Queen Maeve and Homelander were no exception.
"Didn’t you say you couldn’t lift the plane? Why can he?" Homelander also looked puzzled.
"I don’t know! Logically, at this angle of force, he should have punched through the plane!"
"Bullshit!" Queen Maeve cursed under her breath.
"Really, do you think I haven’t tried before? My body strength easily penetrates a fighter jet, I don’t know how he does it!"
Homelander felt wrongfully accused for no reason. If he’d known, he would have just let the plane crash, saving himself from Maeve thinking he wasn’t putting in the effort.
"Guardian!! It’s Guardian!!" Someone shouted. Then everyone started cheering.
At least they weren’t all just shouting "Thank God."
