Chapter 65 Natural Disaster Virus, Homelander’s Wrath
Lucas flew back to his Midtown apartment. Starlight didn’t recognize him at first because he had changed into a different combat uniform, and his brows were etched with exhaustion.
"Why do you look more tired than if you’d been socializing all night?"
Starlight walked over in her cartoon slippers, asking with concern.
Lucas collapsed onto the sofa, wanting nothing more than a big gulp of ice-cold cola.
"Help me order ten pizzas, three family buckets, and five servings of Chicken fried rice."
"Oh right, and cola. Switch to Coke this time."
"And add a few extra packets of ketchup."
Seeing Lucas’s weak expression, Starlight felt like calling emergency services instead of a food delivery place.
However, she ultimately dialed a few nearby places that offered delivery.
Starlight came to Lucas’s side and saw that he was sweating.
"Why is your body temperature so high?"
"I stood on the surface of the sun for a while. Do you believe me?"
Lucas said truthfully.
"Stop bragging!"
Starlight rolled her eyes, but the worry in her eyes deepened.
"I’m going to get a thermometer."
Lucas touched his head. He didn’t feel anything wrong, but he thought maybe he had used Super Speed Regeneration too much, leaving his body weak and in need of high-protein intake to replenish his nutritional needs.
Three hours later. The deliveries arrived one after another.
"Miss, I suggest you go to Vought and get a couple of shots. My grandmother runs faster than you." Lucas opened the door and handed over a five-dollar tip.
The delivery driver shrugged. Lucas told the blonde bombshell not to leave yet, opened a pizza box, and shared a slice with her.
"Thanks. This is my private number. If you’re interested, give me a call!"
The blonde bombshell thought Lucas looked familiar, like Guardian who had been very popular lately, so she left him her private number and gave him a wink.
But on second thought, it was unlikely. Why would the famous Guardian eat cheap food like pizza?
Lucas realized this issue halfway through eating.
"That’s right. Wouldn’t lobster and abalone be more nourishing? At the very least, gnawing on a whole cow would be better than eating this stuff!"
High calories aren’t high protein!
Lucas went out, and half an hour later, he returned carrying a large bag of food.
This time, the bag contained Australian lobster, Wagyu beef, braised pork belly, and three rice cookers’ worth of rice.
The restaurant took a while to prepare it, and while he was waiting, he felt his body getting even weaker.
Starlight was stunned. She then called Ashley.
"Does Guardian have any other engagements today? My boyfriend seems to be having a bit of a heartbreak!"
...
Lucas had a great appetite and was rapidly devouring the food he had brought back. When Starlight tried to take a piece of popcorn chicken, Lucas snatched it back at light speed.
"? You’re even guarding your food?"
Even with a large amount of food entering his stomach, Lucas still felt very weak. He was even sweating profusely.
Two lines of blood faintly trickled down from his nostrils.
"Why does my body feel so hot?" Lucas wiped his nose and brought his hand up to look. Blood?
The invincible Guardian was actually having a nosebleed? Supes don’t get ’internal heat’ issues.
Annie finally stood up, immediately picked up the phone, and called Ashley again.
"Hurry, send a top-tier medical team over!"
Lucas stood up; he also felt that something was wrong. This wasn’t just ordinary weakness; this was...
Before he could finish saying those words, he lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.
...
In the ICU intensive care unit. Lucas lay inside a transparent air shield, surrounded by a mess of various medical equipment.
Outside the door. Starlight, Maeve, Ashley, and Homelander were all there; even Ryan had come.
"Annie, Annie, Annie!"
Homelander paced back and forth in the corridor, his mouth filled with Starlight’s name.
"You live with him. Why is Guardian suddenly critically ill, and you’re perfectly fine?"
Starlight crossed her arms, staring intently at Lucas through the glass window. Facing Homelander’s interrogation, she looked at a loss.
"I, I don’t know either. The last time Guardian left was at Vought. He was a bit off after he came back..."
Homelander looked at Ashley again.
"Give me an explanation, or I’ll burn you to ashes from head to toe!"
Ashley was so scared she wet herself.
"Sir, I really don’t know! Guardian’s whereabouts have always been mysterious; apart from Ms. Annie, no one else knows."
Maeve suddenly raised her head, realizing something. But on second thought, it seemed unlikely. Then she shrank back.
It was the first time Ryan had seen Homelander in a rage, and he was so scared he backed away repeatedly.
"Where are the doctors? Where have those damn doctors gone!" Homelander could only take his anger out on the medical team.
"Uh, the expert team is working overnight on a plan. They suspect Guardian has been infected with some kind of virus targeting Supes. This virus likely targets the genetic sequence directly. Currently, we have no means to intervene or treat it."
Ashley said cautiously.
Homelander suddenly exploded, punching the wall. A virus targeting Supes?
"Who? Who has such guts to dare frame Guardian?"
Homelander roared in rage, his voice echoing throughout the entire corridor.
Homelander was afraid of losing a friend, and also afraid that this was a conspiracy against him. Guardian might just be an experiment. The mastermind was targeting him, conducting an experiment on those around him.
"Sir, I’ve run all over New York, checked almost every place Guardian might have gone to on a daily basis, including those two Godolkin University students, and didn’t find any issues."
A-Train breezed into the corridor like a gust of wind. He clutched his chest and sat on the floor, leaning against the wall.
"Sir, Guardian will definitely be okay. Even if just for your sake, he will get better..."
Ashley meant to offer some comfort.
Homelander raised his hand to interrupt, looking impatient. "Everyone around me is either a sycophant or intellectually inferior. What’s the use of saying this bullshit now? Guardian isn’t going to crawl out of the ICU just to let you suck my dick!"
Homelander grabbed Ashley by the neck and gently stroked her face.
"Listen! Go tell those doctors and experts that Vought pays them high salaries every year. If Guardian isn’t saved, I will roast the heads of every single one of these useless fools into jelly, you understand?"

Lucas, in a coma, had no idea what was happening in the outside world. He simply fell into darkness, and then a cold, electronic voice sounded from the void.
