Chapter 143 The Dying Robert

"But once your feet touch that land across the Narrow Sea!" Lucas’s tone turned abruptly cold.

"The hand of fate will draw a boundary for you! You will lose your children, and you yourself will eventually die at the hands of kin, be associated with the Mad King, and forever be etched onto history’s pillar of shame!"

Daenerys shuddered.

This was a prophecy about herself, and just listening to the content, the weight she held in it was far greater than that of her own brother?

But didn’t her brother claim to be the true dragon?

She didn’t want to wake the dragon’s wrath!

Daenerys just wanted to escape everything as it was.

"This... this is an evil prophecy!" she said, trembling.

"That is why I have manifested in this world. So, Miss Unburnt, are you willing to become my first believer?" Lucas said lightly.

"But, I will die at the hands of kin. Can prophecy be changed?" Daenerys asked, filled with trepidation.

"Yes!" Lucas nodded. "I can help you change this impending fate, but you must surrender to me forever. Your dragons are my dragons, and even you yourself are my subject!"

"There is no Daenerys Stormborn, only the agent of a god!"

"Is it a deal?"

Daenerys hesitated and did not answer immediately.

"Of course, you can refuse." Lucas added slowly, "Besides, there are plenty of powers across the Narrow Sea. I could also go and support your enemies—for example, that usurper snoring away on the Iron Throne, or even the Little Rose of Highgarden!"

"Hmm, yes, the Little Rose, she’s not bad either!"

"Let me think, the North seems to only have Sansa worth considering, and the Red Priestess is a follower of the Red God..." Lucas seemed to be weighing who to make his believer.

His muttering completely shattered Daenerys’s last hesitation.

Daenerys knew very well that she and her brother were now just stray dogs, and her only hope was this bloodline and the ethereal dream of restoring the kingdom.

Illyrio was by no means a loyal subject; he just wanted to sell them for a good price.

And this mysterious person before her might be worth believing in.

"I... I am willing to submit to you." Daenerys steadied herself and gathered her courage.

"But can you change my current situation first? If I marry someone else, I won’t be able to serve you anymore!"

Marrying someone else!

That was a bit inconvenient.

"This is simple." Lucas didn’t take the Khal to heart.

"The Dothraki are wild and untamable, and they drink blood and eat raw meat; they are quite troublesome to rule. It would be better to just wipe them out."

After speaking, his figure vanished from the hall.

...

Lucas was not going to wipe out the Khal.

He had simply arrived in the North of Westeros... or to be precise, on the road to King’s Landing.

At this time, Eddard Stark should have accepted King Robert’s invitation and set off south to serve as the Hand of the King.

This pair of brothers would be the first to be eliminated from the game of thrones.

First was the King; Robert was not far from death.

According to the plot, he would be gored by a boar during a hunt.

Lucas glanced over.

Robert was indeed lying on his deathbed, hanging onto half a life with milk of the poppy. The wound was already festering and stinking; it wouldn’t be long before he became a cold corpse.

"Get out, you lot of golden-haired bitches! By the Seven!"

"Where is Ned?"

"Call him over. I don’t want my last sight before I die to be you Lannister bastards!" Robert threw a tantrum.

Eddard Stark soon arrived, keeping vigil by the bed, having his final conversation with this old friend.

After Ned got up and left, Lucas seized this window of opportunity and silently slipped into the sickroom.

He held his hands in his sleeves, dragged that cloak, and slowly walked to Robert’s bedside.

"Oh my! His Majesty the King is about to go meet the Seven!"

"The magnificent great stag of the past, the warrior who killed Rhaegar with a single hammer blow on the riverbank, is now going to die in bed instead of on the battlefield!"

"Regretful? Want to change the status quo?"

Robert opened his eyes abruptly, his turbid gaze faintly mixed with a bit of anger.

"Goddamn it... which bastard are you? Who let you in?"

Lucas didn’t care about his cursing.

"I am your father!"

"I can heal your wounds. Are you planning to lie in bed like a whore and keep cursing, or are you going to take off that crown and listen to me for a moment?"

Lucas said lightly, "An ordinary person born in this era would wish for a quick death, but for the powerful, they only regret they cannot live forever, right!"

"I can make you live, without having to watch... someone else’s son ascend to your throne."

A glimmer of light flashed in Robert’s eyes.

When a person is about to die, they can no longer care about anything else. As long as he could live, he would be willing to pay any price.

"By the Seven! You damned sorcerer, since you can do it, then bring my life back! I can give you whatever you want!"

"I am the King!"

"Women? Power? Money?"

"I can give you all of these!" Robert boasted.

"Stop farting! You are surrounded by golden-haired Lannisters. They control many important positions, and the court ministers are all connected to them. You are being hollowed out step by step!"

"That is why you sought Ned to come south, hoping to use your good brother’s hand to clear the hidden dangers of House Baratheon!"

"You can give me power? This is just a shield!" Lucas looked full of disdain. "As for women... your golden-haired Queen is a whore, and none of the three children she bore you are your own! You still sleep with whores every night for fun; can you offer me a top-tier woman?"

"Money is even less worth mentioning. The country is deeply in debt; how many gold dragons do you owe Tywin? How much interest is that little treasury across the Narrow Sea calculating for you every day?"

Robert was drenched in sweat from being told this.

How did this person know so much? He even guessed his secret thoughts!

"So, you don’t seem to have enough chips to make this deal!"

Lucas stood with his hands behind his back, looking at the military camp outside with great interest. Sansa, Arya, and the great Joffrey were making a scene by the river, and the little wolf was about to cause trouble.

Behind him, the King’s breath was weak.

Lucas was not worried about whether he lived or died.

"You don’t have much time left!"

"I have already signed a reasonable contract with the little girl across the Narrow Sea. She can pay the price of three dragons for me; your reserve price cannot be lower than three dragons, right!"

"Think about what reward you can use to repay this!" Lucas continued to apply psychological pressure to Robert.

"Traitor!" Robert was furious and struggled to get up, but it pulled at his wound, causing him to grimace in pain. He pointed at Lucas. "So... you are a traitor!"

"Traitor?" Lucas was amused. "According to the rules, someone of your level is not qualified to talk to me. I am actually on the same level as the Seven you believe in! Actually, that’s not right—I am a little bit more powerful than them!"

"The gods of this realm can only manifest miracles through believers; their true forms cannot descend!"

"And I am a god walking among men!"

Lucas spread his arms, and two red lights faintly shone from within his dark cloak. "Make your decision!"
