Lucas called Edgar right away to ask if there was any fresh news lately.
"Did Homelander find a new partner?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I actually have something to tell you. A vacancy in The Seven has been filled. It’s Stormfront, Clara. A veteran Supe with an excellent public image, currently a positivity blogger!"
"Positivity?"
Lucas sneered, "If she’s positivity, I’ll give up my seat to old ladies every single day. If those old Jews find out her identity, I won’t even be able to protect you, Edgar!"
"Guardian, you know a lot of things, but she is an old asset of the company. Many people are willing to give her face, and I am no exception."
There was a hint of helplessness in Edgar’s tone.
He certainly knew what Stormfront wanted to do by popping up at this time, but this was seniority—seniority even older than his own.
"If I give her face, I’ll call her Stormfront; if I don’t give her face, I’ll send her to take a bath in the sun!"
Lucas snorted coldly.
"Tell that person to behave, otherwise even Jesus won’t be able to save her. That’s what I said!"
Lucas hung up the phone.
Edgar shook his head.
On one side is the group’s great child of destiny, and on the other is the idol’s old partner.
To be honest, out of commercial considerations, he was willing to stand with Lucas, but the board of directors was not his word alone.
Stormfront, real name Clara.
A Supe who has lived from the last century until now.
Her characteristic is longevity.
Other than longevity, her various abilities are quite average. At least now, Maeve and Starlight combined could wipe the floor with her.
If Stormfront were just simply discriminating against Jews, Lucas wouldn’t have much of a feeling about it.
But she doesn’t take him seriously either.
Then we don’t need to be polite, right!
"Guardian, you were looking for me?"
Hughie held a thick stack of documents, feeling a bit awkward. After being here for so many days, he still wasn’t used to his direct boss being Guardian.
Lucas leaned back on the sofa. "How is the work at The Foundation going? Tell me about it."
Hughie suddenly perked up.
"Mr. Edgar deposited another 100 million into the fund a couple of days ago. The total is now 900 million."
"Following the standards you set, I’ve been visiting the families of the recipients during this time."
He opened the file and listed the details like he knew them by heart.
"This batch is mainly veterans."
"Many people have severe post-war trauma, can’t sleep through the night, and rely on alcohol and drugs to numb themselves."
"We connected with several veteran support groups, arranged psychological therapy, temporary housing, and re-employment training for them."
"Also, the children rescued from Little St. James Island have all been placed in professional trauma intervention institutions, with one-on-one psychological counseling, and education funds have also been provided."
"Also..."
Hughie’s voice was a bit choked up.
"There are quite a few children suffering from serious illnesses—leukemia, rare diseases... A single illness can completely drag down an ordinary family. The bills alone are enough to push them below the execution line!"
"We connected directly with the hospitals and covered all the medical expenses."
"I was afraid someone would exploit the loopholes to scam the charity funds, so I personally verified every single payment."
"Cate helped me screen everything from start to finish to see if what the other party said was true and if they had fabricated their condition."
"In these two weeks, we haven’t missed a single scammer. Every penny has been delivered to the hands of those who truly need it."
Hughie finished speaking and let out a long sigh of relief.
Lucas clapped in encouragement.
"Good boy!"

Hoho!
Hughie has been molded into my shape, Butcher!!
Lucas chuckled inwardly.
"You’re a good lad, Hughie. I didn’t misjudge you!"
Hughie scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"However," Lucas changed the subject, "I didn’t call you here today for The Foundation."
"It’s for... The Boys."
Hughie was stunned subconsciously.
Oh right, he was a spy.
"I have something that requires your help."
Hughie nodded. "You say... I..."
Halfway through, Hughie realized.
The Boys aren’t subordinates of Guardian.
"I have a matter right now that isn’t convenient for me to handle personally. I need The Boys to take action."
"I can guarantee that this is definitely something that will deal a serious blow to Homelander."
Hughie was even more confused.
"Wait..."
He stammered, "Guardian... aren’t you and Homelander brothers? Why do you always want to... screw him over?"
Lucas smiled without saying anything.
"That’s what brotherhood is, boy! Couples always look at each other with dislike; brothers always screw each other over; friends... are the same. There is no relationship more intimate in this world than that!"
Lucas added a little bit of shock to Hughie’s little head.
So that’s how it is.
No wonder Butcher often leads the team into the ditch. Mothers Milk and Frenchie are annoyed to death, but they always work with him.
Is this what brotherhood is?
He has no brothers and comes from a single-parent family, so he doesn’t really understand brotherly love.
"Anyway, Edgar stuffed a new hero into The Seven named Stormfront. This person’s background isn’t clean; she’s a Nazi!"
"She has lived from the last century until now, and now, this person wants to use Homelander to achieve a certain goal."
"I’m guessing she wants to build a Supe army and have Homelander lead it."
Lucas’s smile was somewhat dangerous. "Originally, according to my way of doing things, I actually wanted her to succeed."
"The stronger the villain, the greater the turmoil they can bring to the world, and the hero who stands up at this time will reap more fame."
"However, John and I are good brothers! I’m happy to screw a brother over, but kill him? Not quite."
What Lucas said made Hughie break out in a cold sweat.
Nazis, a Supe army?
What are they going to do? Share the living space under the blue sky for the third time?
"If that’s the case, I’m willing to act as a bridge for you. You’re not a bad person, and I can try my best to persuade Butcher," Hughie said.
"No need. You don’t understand Butcher, Hughie!"
Lucas said, "You just need to tell him about this matter, and he will find a way himself! Sage Grove Center, remember this name. You will find what you want there!"
Sage Grove Center.
Nominally, it’s a psychiatric rehabilitation center and nursing home, but in reality, it’s heavily locked down and outsiders can’t get in at all.
Inside are mentally ill patients forgotten by society.
Vagrants.
And homeless people.
Stormfront has recently been researching injecting adults with compound v to mass-produce Supes. The effect of this stuff has always been unstable.
Even if the improved compound v isn’t as potent as the first generation, it’s still unlikely to produce superheroes with stable abilities on a large scale.
That’s why Vought usually uses babies for experiments.
Including Supes like Annie and Maeve, who were all injected from a young age.
"An Aryan Supe army, get it, kid?"
Lucas’s hand-blade was already hungry and impatient.
