Chapter 222: Sentiment

Vivianโ€™s POV

Vivian had always known that she was very sentimental. But if there had ever been any doubt in her mind, how she was reacting to saying goodbye to her apartment really would have proven to her that she had a sentimental side to her.

Why in the world was she crying at the sight of the kitchen sink?

She had washed dishes and vegetables there so many times before, and that particular spot had never stirred any deep emotions within her. But now as she was gently touching the metal Vivian found herself wiping away tears.

Her reaction was ridiculous, but she just could not help it. Turning so that she was leaning against the sink, she stared at her fridge, her cupboards, her spice rack, and more tears came. She even shed a few hot ones for her table and chairs, the reality of her decision to move in with Ryan hitting her fully.

โ€™This was really it. This was the last time that the apartment would scream Vivian Roseโ€™.

The moment that she got a renter, that person was going to come in and they were going to stamp the place with their own unique style.

Pushing away from the sink Vivian walked over to the living room, and her tears began flowing once again.

Her cushions, her couch, her TV, her decorations, it was all going to be different now. Sure she was taking the decorations to the penthouse, but they would be in a totally different environment and it would take a while for her to get used to them there. After running her trembling fingers over a drawing, Vivian turned in a slow circle, taking in everything that surrounded her with stinging eyes.

That done, she made her way to her bathroom and took in everything there as well. Since her bathroom was smaller than all of the other rooms, she did not take much time there. After taking a moment to smile softly at her reflection in the mirror, she finally headed to the last room...her bedroom.

Once in her room Vivian only allowed herself a few moments to take in everything, then she got to work. Deciding to handle her most pressing business first, she headed directly to her drawer. Then she took out the items that she had come for and placed them in her handbag. Unable to stop blushing as she did so despite the fact that she had done way more with them than just hold them.

With everything finally put away Vivian let herself fall backwards on the bed and stare up at the ceiling without really seeing it. Exhaling loudly she kicked off her shoes and rolled around on the bed. Now that she had done the most important thing that she had come to do, she found herself regretting the fact that she had come there alone. The loneliness of the place was really getting to her.

She should have waited for Ryan.

Sure, he did not feel as deeply for the places she did which was to be expected. He did not have as many memories of the places she did but she knew that Ryan had a fondness for the place so he most definitely would have been very good company while she processed.

Most likely they would have been having sex on every available surface, instead of marking things either for storage or for the penthouse. But Vivian chose not to think about that. Instead choosing to cling to the fantasy that they would have been hugging random walls and crying together and actually marking stuff.

Suddenly wanting to talk to him, she patted her pockets for her phone, but she could not find it. Grabbing her hand bag, she searched for it there as well, but it was nowhere to be found. Realizing that she had left the device out in the living room alongside her keys, she took a moment to kick around and throw a tantrum on the bed. Her meltdown done, she grunted in frustration. For a moment, she thought of just staying where she was out of pure laziness. But the need to speak to her man was stronger, so Vivian forced herself to get up. Her trip to the living room ended up being delayed when Vivian happened to notice a small scratch in the paint and was suddenly reminded of exactly how it had gotten there.

It had happened the day that she had just bought her new bed. To save costs she had decided to move it on her own. That single decision had led to nothing but two hours of blood, sweat and pain.

In the end she had had to call in professional movers to help her get the bed out of the spot that it had been wedged in but her walls had paid the price. Running her finger over the small scratch Vivian could not help but smile. There was no doubt in her mind that if she did not get it fixed before renting the place out someone was going to point it out and try to get a cheaper price because of the damage. That meant that she was going to have to get rid of it.

The place really was going to change.

Before she could be overwhelmed by sadness at all of the little signs of personality that she would have to strip away to make the apartment livable for someone else. Vivian heard the front door open and close.

Ryan!

A big smile on her face she ran towards the living room. Ready to tackle her boyfriend and hug him as hard as she could. Stepping into the living area she took one step, then two and stopped. The man looking around the living room was not Ryan Terrell. He had his back to her, but Vivian instantly recognized him. How could she not, he had been her nightmare for years, and just recently, she had let him back into her life at her lowest point...Bryce.
