Chapter 237: Strange Fruit
Gwendolyn’s POV
"Are you sure that running it the best thing for us to do. We could just continue laying low until Terrell forgets all about this and then resurface," Gwendolyn wanted to slap some sense into Bryce. Lay low like a rat while people lived their lives, did he even know her? She was made for the limelight not for hiding. Plus, there was absolutely no way Ryan would be forgetting this.
Not showing her annoyance, Gwendolyn once again explained to him why leaving was a great idea. By the time that he finally saw reason, she felt close to just slitting his throat with her nails, not caring about her decision to not kill him there.
"Alright, we can flee," He said, and she hugged him in excitement. Finally, he was going to die!
Pulling back from the contact, she decided to push for something that would really help her out.
"If we are really going to do this, then I would feel better knowing that you have said goodbye to your family. Write them a letter saying goodbye." Bryce frowned at her words. His tongue poking out as he ran it over the now bare spot where his two-front teeth used to be. It was a revolting sight, but Gwendolyn managed to keep her disgust from showing.
"Won’t that be dangerous though? If I write a good bye letter, and mail it, it could be easily traced to this place. But if I try to send an email, my family will be aware of the fact that I am planning to leave the country, and they might alert the police," Or he could write the good bye letter and send it once he was well and truly out of the country. Gwendolyn did not give him that suggestion though. She just let his idiot brain keep him where she needed him to be.
What she was selling as a good bye letter would be Bryce’s suicide note. He just did not need to know that.
Pushing a pen and paper in his direction, her soft cotton gloves covering her hands and ensuring that she did not leave any prints on the parchment, she smiled reassuringly.
"Just write it and I will make sure that they get it when the time is right," Taking the pen and moving the paper closer to himself, Bryce dead at the parchment and began tapping his healing chin with the pen.
"What should I even write?...Bye guys. See you later,"
Goodness, why was Bryce so slow! His loved ones needed to feel the fear and desperation, the sadness from Bryce in order to believe that he was someone fully capable of ending himself. He could not leave such a flippant message and expect it to cover up his murder.
"Just tell them that you are scared. That you never actually meant for things to get out of hand, and that you feel that leaving this place is the only way you can truly find peace," Bryce dead at her for a moment, then his face lit up and he began to write, reading each way as he jotted it down, Gwendolyn felt a smile stretch her lips. The man was literally taking all that she just said to him and was paraphrasing it. Excellent.
Suicide note complete, she put on a scarf and a cap, leaving Bryce behind with the excuse that she was going to prepare for their departure. In truth she was going to scout the best place to end his annoying existence. She already had a place in mind, now she just had to make sure that it was as good as it had looked in her online searches.

Normally Gwendolyn was not one for manual labor, but that evening she gladly did it. Packing their luggage into the back of a little car that she’d purchased in cash a few weeks earlier, she did not complain, choosing to view it as a form of exercise. It also helped that the majority of the bags were hers and Bryce only had the few items of clothing that she discreetly purchased for him during his stay at her place.
She would have loved nothing more than to just burn them before they left, but that would make him suspicious. So under his watchful eye, she packed away his meager belongings as well, smiling sweetly each time he pointed out how much quicker he would have been with the whole thing were he not injured.
He was so busy moaning about his diminished strength that he did not notice that she put one of the smaller bags directly behind the driver’s seat. Said bag containing the instrument that she had decided would be best to end him. Bags packed, she turned to him, her smile more genuine.
"Why don’t you take your painkillers before we set off?" He blinked at her, his eyes narrowing for a split second and Gwendolyn felt unease build in her gut. Had she messed up in bringing up the pills? She had never done so before, what if he suspected that she was trying to make him easier to control.
Oh no, what if-
"You are right, the drive will definitely not do any favors for my ribs, so it is best I take something before we go,"
Yes!
Gwendolyn was so happy she nearly did an air punch. She settled for just handing Bryce a bottle of water and watching the man take his meds. When he was done, she took the bottle from him and threw it in the trash.
"Thanks doll, I love how you take care of me. It is good to know that women who know that their job is taking care of men still exist,"
What a little fool.
He seemed to think that she was being so very helpful because she was just a ’little woman’. It was a misunderstanding that Gwendolyn was working very hard to keep going. Up until the very last moment when he could not get away, she would make sure that the man did not see her as a threat.
***
Despite having already gone out earlier that day, Gwendolyn had still been very worried as she had been driving through the streets, her face mask on and a cap pulled low to her face, hoping that no traffic cameras took any pictures of her and that no officers stopped them.
But just as it had been the case during the first outing, things had gone her way and now they were finally at the location that would be the place where Bryce took his final breath.
"Are you sure that our flight out of here is going to show this place looks a little bit abandoned," The man queried and Gwendolyn rushed to reassure him.
"Of course, trust me, that is why I brought us to this old hangar. No one will be looking for us here, but I bet that they are swarming the airports in the seaports. Plus, all roads leading out of the city are being heavily monitored. Taking an unexpected exit route is our only chance. All we have to do is wait there and our small plane will come and get us," Her hands beginning to shake, she gripped the wheel tight as she drove into the hangar, her gaze briefly shifting to the tall trees that now surrounded the abandoned building. The runway was mostly intact, something that she hoped would reassure Bryce that there truly was a plane coming for them.
Parking the car in the hangar, Gwendolyn made sure to conceal it in the darkening shadows. There might not have been anyone coming for them, but she did not wish to risk accidental witnesses spotting them.
"It will get dark pretty soon. Are you sure they will make it?" Bryce asked a few minutes later, his unease clear and Gwendolyn realized that she was going to have to reassure him. Taking her handbag out from the back of the seat, she opened the car door. "Wait here while I make a call," Leaving him in the car. Gwendolyn walked out of the old place and into the trees.
Her heart beating way too loud, she put some distance between herself and the hangar, not stopping until she came to the tree that she had picked out earlier that day.
A sturdy trunk, and thick branches had made it ideal for her plans. Opening up her bag, she pulled out the rope that she’d purchased and held it against the bark...perfect, they were almost the same shade. Bryce would most likely not spot it, all she had to do was-
A twig snapped behind her and Gwendolyn jumped a foot in the air.
Thinking Bryce had followed her, she whirled around, panic seizing her. What if he fought? What if he tried to run? She could not have that, her whole plan hinged on her not leaving behind any evidence!
Fortunately, she did not have to worry about what Bryce would do because the intruder turned out to be a bunny rabbit.
"For scaring me, I should hang you too," She told the rabbit, it merely twitched an ear in her direction and just like that, it was gone. Laughing softly, she got to work tying the noose. That done, she threw the rope over a branch and weighed down the other end with a small rock. After tucking the noose into a hole in the tree, Gwendolyn stepped back and admired her work.
Good, the stage was set. Now she just had to go and get the final piece.
Returning to the car, she found Bryce dozing off in the passenger seat. Satisfied that the meds were doing their job she knocked on the window and took great satisfaction in watching him startle and hiss in pain as he gripped his ribs.
"Is your guy coming?" He asked as he opened the door.
"He is almost here. Come on, I want to show you something that I found in the woods," With no hesitation at all, Bryce got out of the car and followed her.
What a dumb man, if he had a lick of common sense he would have already been on edge, but as they walked deeper into the woods, he seemed perfectly at ease. The man truly was asking to be killed, it really was not her fault.
"Wouldn’t it be safer to wait for our ride in the car?" He asked as they moved even deeper into the woods and Gwendolyn laughed softly, hoping that he would not detect her nerves.
"I have planned a little farewell gift for you and given your healing injuries, it is not something that can be given in the car,"
"A woman who takes time for gifts in the middle of an escape, you are such wife material," Bryce said in that smug tone that always made her want to punch him. When they came to the tree that she had chosen, Gwendolyn gently pushed him against the trunk, making sure not to look up so that he would not as well, ( him seeing the noose would really ruin things for her).
"This is a little something just for you," She said as she fell to her knees, ignoring the way that small stones were digging into her soft skin.
"In the woods, really?" Bryce said, but he was already lowering his pants, his movements a bit sluggish thanks to his meds. With his pants down, and that awful small dick visible, Gwendolyn suppressed her revulsion and reached out to run her finger alongside the length. Looking up at Bryce, she smiled, "Wait, I have something that will make this even better," Getting back to her feet, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a handkerchief.
"Let me tie this around your eyes. It will make the sensations even hotter," A bit of apprehension entered Bryce’s eyes for the first time, but she silenced that by cupping his dick. Moaning the man immediately nodded his consent and Gwendolyn let go of his cock in order to blindfold him. Still standing, she reached for his dick again and began jerking him off. Knowing him as well as she did now, it barely even took three minutes for him to start squirting and the moment he did Gwendolyn moved.
Blood roaring in her ears she let go of his dick. Reaching up she tugged at the rope, pulling the noose from the hole that she had pushed it into. Her hands steady despite the way her heart was racing, she did not hesitate for even a split second, as she slid it over his head and tightened it.
"What-" Before he could finish speaking, she pulled off the blindfold and moved back to where the other end of the rope was being held down by a stone. Her gloved hands gripping the rope tight, Gwendolyn let her body go limp.
That generated the force needed to lift Bryce off his feet, the man’s legs kicking, his hands clawing at the rope around his neck as he tried to get free.
Even with the fading light, Gwendolyn could clearly see the fear and horror on Bryce’s face. His mouth wide open, his eyes bugging out, he stared at her, but she just continued to hold the rope, her body acting as an anchor.
She watched him struggle, movements desperate, adrenalin breaking the effects of the painkiller. He stared at her with terrified eyes, and she looked right back, barely blinking, a strange sort of calm blanketing her.
There was no begging, no crying out. She was doing to him what he had done to Vivian Rose just a few days before, only unlike Vivian, Gwendolyn was going to make sure that Bryce did not survive. And so she just watched as he thrashed, tears running down his face, and pee and feces down his legs.
It was honestly one of the most horrific things that Gwendolyn had ever witnessed, both the smell and the look of Bryce were horrifying. But she held on, tighter,..tighter... tighter, until in the end there was no longer any struggling. Bryce went still, the same eyes that had been staring at her with fear, hurt, shock, confusion, rage, now completely blank.
Her job done, Gwendolyn tied her end of the rope around the root of the tree, walking over to Bryce’s still warm corpse, she reached into her pocket and pulled out his suicide note. Pulling his sad pants back up, she afforded him a bit of decency( plus undone pants would definitely give away the presence of a second person, which she did not want). Placing the note into the pocket of his jacket. Gwendolyn took one last look at her handiwork before she began walking away. The gravity of what she had done did not fully hit her until she was in her car, headed back to her safe house.
She’d killed a man, and now she was going to get away with it.
