The Coffee Shop in a Different World Station

Seven Guild Binding Men and Souvenir Confectionery

"Uh-huh. I'll get in the way."

The door of the coffee shop "Tsubame", which safely and peacefully closed its lunch today, rang Karan Karan, and one man came into the store. The man, small and disappointed and accumulating plenty of mustaches in his mouth, gives voice to the members of the store in a way he is used to, shaking his bears ears on his head.

"Oh, it's Mr. Gustav! Welcome!

Nyarch, who was cleaning the hall, rushes to the momentum of an earlier man - Gustav - who just jumps.

"Ooh, Nyarch, it's been a while. I'm always fine. What about the master?"

"Your husband would be cleaning up the kitchen. Should I call you?

"No, I want to see how the kitchen machines are too, so can I go that way?

"Roger that! So, which way is it?

Nyarch leads Gustav to the kitchen. In the kitchen, Takumi, who had already done a great deal of cleaning up, carefully wiped up the dishes one by one alongside Roland. Gustav calls out to Takumi as he enters the kitchen and raises his wrap.

"Hey, master. I've managed to do something about it."

"Ah, Mr. Gustav, are you ready for that!

Takumi leads and seats at a small wooden dining table beside the kitchen when she leaves the dish wipe to Roland. Looks like Nyarch went to get us drinks for the guests. Gustav, who takes his seat, hands Takumi an earlier package.

"Well, open it"

When Takumi opened the wrap he was given according to Gustav, there was a metal tool inside that was combined with something like two foams. Takumi has been ordering from Gustav for a long time. Takumi takes the top handle and turns it as she twirls the handle attached to the underside of it. Then, while the combined gear makes a creepy sound with the caracallas, it momentously rotates the foam bubbler section underneath. Takumi conveys her words of gratitude as she nods satisfactorily at the way it moves.

"This is good. It's exactly what I imagined. With this it would be a lot easier to do the planting work. Thank you Gustav for always asking for unscrupulous orders.

"Well, the thing I was asked to do is get it done the way I want it done is my hold as guild leader. Well, I feel a lot more" challenged ”than asked for your order."

Gustav returns words to Takumi laughing gahahahaha. Takumi nods with her hands behind her head slightly frightened.

"Nevertheless, it's true that your ideas always surprise me. Thanks to this, it is a good stimulus for the entire mechanical guild. Well, that“ station manager ”is the man I expected, so maybe it's natural. All right, well, what do you say we check the oven and the rocket stove? If the rattle was coming out of sight, it'd be bad."

"Yeah, I'd love to,"

"But I wish I'd take one before then! It's not too late to drink it because I let you in!

While Gustav and Takumi were talking, Nyarch interrupted. Apparently, coffee was ready. Gustav and Takumi laughed bitterly, softly accepting the coffee that Nyarch had put me in new.

◇ ◇ ◇

Takumi had one in the kitchen that night in mind. Takumi recalls the take-out order Gustav had asked for on his way home. Gustav's order was "a souvenir that shows the goodness of a hand-wound foam." Anything, he wanted to show off the power of Gustav's prized specialty, the "hand-wound foam", as the joint liaison meeting of the Mechanic Guild will take place tomorrow. Gustav had asked me to be prepared because I would be picking it up before boarding the first flight tomorrow morning.

(When that happens, is it me after all......

When it is a combination of portability required as a handicraft and good taste holding that can withstand long trips, it is narrowed down to several candidates. Takumi chose one of the simplest and most surprising treats of all and headed to the pantry to prepare the necessary ingredients.

Tacumi prepared eggs and sugar, along with limon (lemon) fruit, a sour yellow citrus, and the corn flour we usually use. First, beat the eggs on the edge of the cone and table, carefully crack them so that they circle the shell all the way around, and gently break the shell in half over a large, wafer-shaped ceramic vessel. At this time, when the yellow body of the egg gently opens the area that has been raised so that it remains in the shell, only the white body enters the tulung and bowl. Only the white body is placed in the vessel, also shifting between the egg shells for the remaining contents.

(I think this vessel would be fine if it wasn't supported by hand...)

Insert the "hand-turned bubbler” that just arrived today into the vessel with the white body in it and turn it around the handle. The foam section then rotates vigorously as the handle moves, stirring the white body in the bowl exactly. The weighty ceramic vessel had firmly received the rotation of the foam dispenser without grabbing.

(Yeah, it's easy to have this after all. It looks like it could be applied a lot)

The white body mixed with a hand-turned foam quickly foamed white and fluffy. Takumi further glues the handle while also moving the hand-winning foam itself slightly. Where somewhat smooth, add sugar and limon juice. Whenever I stir it up with a hand-turned foam, the foamed white body gets harder and harder. And if you add sugar and arrow flour and mix well together, you could make a meringue that stood firm. Arrange it on a metal square plate with oil paper, careful not to crush the foam. Then, when I got my hands in the preheated oven and checked the temperature, I left only a little firewood on fire from the furnace and scratched it out before putting the dish with the earlier meringue into the oven.

(Well, does it work......

The confectionery I'm making right now - the meringue cookies will burn if the temperature rises too high, and if they're too low, they won't cook crisp. Takumi carefully observes what is going on in the oven while cleaning up the kitchen. Nevertheless, inside the dark vault, even if Takumi sees it, it's just a dark space. So Takumi decided to call for a helper who was resting first upstairs.

"Nyachi, come downstairs for a second."

Nyarch jumps into the kitchen with a healthy footsteps.

"Oju-kun? What can I do for you?

"Yeah, can I have a look at what's going on in here for a second?

"Aye, aye. Um, which one is it...?

Nyarch stares into the oven's vault as he narrows his pupils. Nyarch, who became a cat's subordinate when he got lost in "this world," had his eyes working even in the dark. Takumi, who was very incredible at first, but now accepted that fact and relied on Nyarch's power when checking how things were in the dark like in the oven's vault.

"Sounds good, doesn't it? It looks white and delicious!

"Thank you, but don't pinch me on the way."

"What, you can't? - Huh?

"Well, the one on the way is very hot, and besides, this is a product for Mr. Gustav in the first place. I'll split it for you to taste properly."

"Wow! Well, then, be patient and stare!

Takumi instructs Nyarch to give a signal when the surface of the meringue is drying up and the tuna is slightly tinted. While waiting for the baking, Takumi began to make mayonnaise with the extra yolks she had in making meringue. Transfer the egg yolks into a heavy ceramic vessel just like earlier and stir in a hand white-wine vinegar, salt and sugar until mixed together, adding a little oil.

(I knew you could make mayonnaise.

Takumi fills a bottle of mayonnaise that has been completed in roughly half an hour more than when it was previously made by hand, after having been pre-sanitized with hot water and well drained. At that time, a signal was heard from Nyarch.

"Ojo! Probably looks good. Yikes!

Takumi opens the oven door and retrieves the iron dish inside when she responds to Nyarch's signal. The baked meringue remained solidified with a bright white complexion, although the edges were slightly browned. Takumi places the meringue on top of the oven with it on an iron dish and dries the last moisture with excess heat. Put aside for a while, where the coarse heat has come off, take one of the small eyes, break it in half and check inside. Then he threw one into his own mouth and the other into the mouth of Nyarch, who was now waiting late.

"Yeah, it's just that!

Takumi is relieved to get the Nyarch pass score. Mr. Gustav would be happy with this. Takumi carefully placed the finished meringues one at a time inside a cylindrical can made of brisket deposited from Gustav.

◇ ◇ ◇

"This is the confection you actually made. Enjoy."

On the seat of the joint liaison meeting, where the chiefs of the mechanical guilds from all over met together, Gustav told the participants in the row with a confident attitude, urging them to mouth the white confectionery they had handed out earlier. Participants reach for the treat in front of them while giving them a surprising look. The venue was dazzling.

"This... what the hell... Despite the crisp toothpaste, it melts in your mouth with clarity..."

"It's like we're eating snow. And this refreshing sweetness that doesn't make you feel any better is also strange."

"It's a strange treat that I've never experienced before. Lord Gustav, what the hell is this made of?

The guild chiefs give their thoughts along with their biggest compliments on the mouth. Gustav also reaches for his share of meringue cookies and savours them slowly. The moment you put your teeth up is a crisp, comfortable texture. If that meets the moisture in your mouth, it will melt shwaggly, and the sweetness surrounded by slight acidity will spread all over your mouth. Gustav answered the participants' questions, after enjoying the taste of meringue cookies for a while in the blemishes, while storing a smile in his mouth.

"This is a treat called meringue cookie. According to the cook, the main ingredient is egg whites."

"Oh, my God! But this isn't going to happen with just baking egg whites. Aren't they using some special technique?

One of the participants raises a question. Gustav continued his words as if he had been waiting for that word.

"I don't know. If it was meant to be, a skilled cook or confectioner would continue to mix egg whites with guts in a foam maker and finally be able to do so with great effort and skill. This time, however, it was possible to finish with less effort by using this“ handle foam. "It took less than half of the normal foam to make the fabric."

Once again, the venue for the meeting is wrapped up. Gustav overlaps words even more.

"Of course, it can definitely be used for a wide range of applications, not just foaming egg whites, but also making various fabrics and mixtures. i.e. that even one machine with this kind of karaki could bring innovation to the kitchen! How about that, Mr. Speaker? Isn't it something rooted in these lives that could enrich citizens' days?

A man called the chancellor nods cocklessly.

"Surely Lord Gustav is right. Regardless, it does not deny the skill of a cook or confectioner, but if it can be done easily, it leads to development. Not only does it enrich the lives of the unskilled general public, but craftsmen themselves can afford to aim for new developments for less effort than ever before. This is an attempt that I would love to have exemplary in each guild."

Gustav responds to the Speaker's words in a courtesy. Nature and applause boiled from all the participants. As a result, the "handle foam" that emerged from Takumi's order was to be widely manufactured in a mechanical guild along the Roses-Harper line.

Incidentally, the confectionery that was sifted around at the Alliance Conferences, inspired by the spread of the "handle foam," will remain a name in the recipe collection for a long time as a "swordfish meringue cookie," but that is another story.
