The Coffee Shop in a Different World Station

17 Souvenirs Received and Difficult Orders (2/3)

"I see, is that what you're gonna do... me or something?

"Yeah, I'd like to hear Roland's opinion first. I'd like your opinion, please."

"Roger that!

The following afternoon, Roland had lined up several cups on the kitchen table in the kitchen of Swallow, a coffee shop where lunch was settled. Takumi divides the boiling water in the pan into small pans, where she puts the tea leaves of the tea removed from the floral pot. After a while, the tea leaves opened and the distinctive colors spread into the pan. The refreshing fragrance spreads around. Takumi poured tea into the cup as she received leaves with a small monkey instead of tea in anticipation of timing.

"Heh, this is tae... I knew it would look and smell completely different from coffee"

Roland stares at the reddish bright orange liquid in the shiitake cup, then confirms the cum and aroma. Unlike any coffee you can usually drink, rising from the cup has a refreshing aroma that reminds you of a fruit somewhere. Roland twists his neck to an unfamiliar fragrance, but makes sure again and again intriguingly.

"Um, I don't know, but it smells soothing."

"Colors and aromas vary depending on the type, but this is what Tae looks like. Well, stay put at first."

As recommended by Takumi, it was Roland, who included his first ”tae” in his mouth in his life, but his face quickly became bitter. When he managed to drink down the tape in his mouth with a frown, he told Takumi his candid thoughts as he tried to get his tongue out and dry.

"Um, honestly, it sounds sinister. Is this the taste of the tape?

"Oh, did you put too much time..."

To Roland's words, Takumi also takes a sip of the tape he poured into his cup. Along with the characteristic refreshing aroma, the distinctive flavour combines tannin and sweetness in the mouth spreads. The aroma and taste were the very “darjeeling” that Takumi remembered. As far as Takumi drinks, it doesn't seem to be too thick.

Takumi, who confirms the taste of the tae, gives the following instructions to Roland:

"I see this feels sinister to Roland. Then try adding a little bit of sugar and adjust it to your taste."

When Roger replied vigorously, Roland spooned the sugar he had prepared for the table. Check the flavor with one cup first, then add another cup to confirm, and finally just add the other half to nucleate, and issue an OK signature.

"That's about as sweet and delicious as this!

Takumi, who received the word, receives a cup from Roland and tastes it. Tae with plenty of sugar had a pretty sweet finish from takumi. Although I can feel the flavor of black tea, it tasted like it reminded me of the "straightness of the can as it used to be”.

Honestly, it tasted too sweet for takumi. But I've remembered one thing because of this. That means the people in "This World" are also drinking coffee quite sweetly. Many people also drink plenty of sugar in the cinnamon coffee served with "swordfish". Perhaps the feeling around here was that there was something in common with coffee and tae.

"So this is just the right amount of sweetness. So, how about this?

Takumi said that she pinched one slice of limon (lemon) she had prepared earlier and squeezed it gently over the cup. As Limon's juice falls into the potpourri and cup, the color of the tape inside adds puffiness and brightness. After being gently stirred, the cup was put back into Roland's hands.

"Oh, I prefer this one! Limon smells good!

Having tasted Limontai, Roland drank it all at once as if he liked it so much. Limontai, still hot though it was about to cool, passed as he transmitted heat to Roland's throat and his face lit bright red.

"Look, if you drink in a hurry, it'll burn you."

While Takumi calms Roland, she now prepares a new tae with tea leaves in a grassy pot. Tae, which was transferred to the cup only once for tasting, had a darker ruby color than the earlier one. Although the fragrance lacks freshness, it gives a sense of depth with sweetness. Included in one mouthful, the unique richness and sweetness spread across the mouth. If earlier tea leaves reminded me of Darjeeling, this one had characteristics close to Assam.

Takumi convinced by its taste, yeah, nodding one, pour the warmed milk in a separate pan into the cup and tape into it. The white milk stains with the red of the tape. After being lightly mixed, the milk tae that could be done was passed to Roland.

"Well, this is the next one, please"

Some of the cups received by Roland contained beige drinks that made them feel warm. Take a sip without adding sugar first. The milk is mellow wrapped around the strong flavour of the tape, giving it a relaxing flavour. Then add just a spoon of sugar for the second bite. The milktea flavour and aroma with added sweetness gently enveloped Roland.

"... this sounds good. Something like this, dusty and calming."

Roland sighs one more time and then tells him what he thinks. Takumi nods one cockroach and pours the last tea leaf standing tape into the cup.

"At the end of the day, please do this. You don't have to do this."

Receiving a cup with Takumi's neck hanging over his words, Roland lightly confirms the scent.

"Keho! This, something!? Do you still want a drink?

Roland reverts to a powerful smoky scent completely different from the two earlier ones. Takumi, when asked by Roland to return the cup, gently smelled the scent before containing a bite.

"Probably the type of thing that smokes tea leaves in the process of making a tae...... hmmm, I knew this was going to be tough"

To Takumi's words, Roland shook his head vertically and nodded again and again. Similar to this, the Masayama variety (Rapsan suchon) also clearly divides preferences. It was also a nod story that would surprise me if I were someone unfamiliar with Tae itself, like Roland.

Some customers may like it, but it will not be at the stage where they still want to spread the tape itself. Takumi thought about it, but thought about using this tea leaf for her own pleasure.

―――――

"So, what are we going to do?

Takumi was working on a prototype in the kitchen that night after dinner alone. Nyarch was a hippo even when he was alone in the room, so he laid back on a small table by the kitchen and watched how Takumi worked.

"Well, there's a limit to just drinks, so I'm going to try to make desserts."

Takumi prepares the material for the prototype while answering Nyarch's questions. Darjeeling and Assam tape leaves, eggs, milk, miele (honey), sugar, orange fruit, and yellow-tinted translucent granules called agar.

Agar is the ingredient used to make jelly and aspic (stewed dust) in this world. It is used in a way that is very similar to gelatin, but the gelatin uses animal raw materials, whereas Agar is made of different seaweed that can be taken in this world. In Takumi, it was understood as “something intermediate between gelatin and cold weather”.

Takumi starts warming by putting fire in the rocket stove and straining water in a large pan. And I also put a fire in the oven stove and set the steps in place. While waiting for the hot water in the pan to boil, break the eggs into a bowl. Then add the yolk only twice as many eggs as you put earlier and stir well. Of course, the egg whites were placed in another bowl to avoid wasting them.

Takumi then prepared a small pan and began to pour the milk and warm it over the oven stove ceiling. As soon as it is gone and the futz and bubbles appear, put the tea leaves - Assam type ones - from the grass patterned pot into the warmed milk. As it warmed gently, the white milk gradually changed to beige.

"Mmm, even though it smells good!

Nyarch was delighted to narrow his eyes to the mellow fragrance that spread throughout the kitchen. Takumi will continue to work. The next thing Takumi has prepared is a deep bat. There, pour in the boiling water in the rocket stove and place on the oven stove ceiling. The bat placement was deliberately adjusted over the hand number of the oven stove being adjusted so that the boiling could be maintained slowly.

Predict where the deliciousness of the tape has been reasonably extracted in the milk, add plenty of sugar and miele, and stir well. Removed from the fire where the sugar had melted enough and added another preserved milk. The amount of milk added is about one-third relative to the milk that was warming. By doing so, we can make it a suitable temperature for cooking after this.

Thus, the stewed tae in milk was placed in a bowl with the eggs mixed together earlier, while the tea leaves were filtered with monkeys. It's a battle against time from here on out. Takumi, when mixed together quickly with the milk tae and egg solution, is filtered again with a fine mesh monkey, then poured into the cup of ceramics usually used for coffee. And when I immediately put one cup in the bat where I put the hot water warm, it took the form of soaking the water up to about half the height of the cup. Takumi carried the biggest hourglass in the kitchen to Nyarch's sitting table and turned it upside down when she could cover a bat the same size over the lid.

"Well, let me know when all this sand falls"

"It's so aiming!

Nyarch begins to look at how the hourglass drops with a serious look. If this looks like it, you don't seem to have to worry about overlooking it. Takumi took a sigh of relief and changed her mind to get to the next task. Pour the boiled water into a new small pan and add the tea leaves of the immediately darjeeling type - those in a floral pot - and cover. After a while, when the tea leaves were sufficiently steamed, when the lid was taken in anticipation, the characteristic refreshing aroma spread on one side.

Takumi returns the bright orange liquid from which the tae was extracted to the pan again when the tea leaves are filtered by browning the finely handled monkeys instead. Once again warm over the oven stove ceiling and remove one or two foams from the fire, combine sugar and miele there, as well as the fruit juice of Naranha, and finally add agar. The whole thing was thoroughly mixed and poured into a thin bat to predict where it had melted well enough.

"It's time for the hourglass!

Nyarch, staring at the hourglass by the kitchen, raises his voice. Just in time. Takumi immediately removed the lid of the bat that had been steaming and warming over the oven stove when she put the small pan containing the tape into the water that had been stored in the washroom until earlier. An earlier liquid, slightly brown in the cup, was solidified with a pull. The surface is very lustrous and the finish is pleasant. Takumi selects one cup and gently inserts a thin wooden skewer in the center before pulling it out. There was no excess liquid on the skewer.

If it's cold, it's done. Takumi takes out the steamed cup with great care not to burn. Then Nyarch approached the kitchen table, whether he was drawn to the sweet scent or couldn't wait, and started staring at Takumi with his upper eyes.

"Erm, this can't be done without both cooling down properly, can it?

Oh, yeah?

Nyarch, who thought he could eat as soon as he could, can knock his ears down with petans to disappoint. Takumi put on words of comfort as she stroked the head of such a gnarch with a pomp of pom.

"This one's still going to take awhile, and I'm going to have to bake some meringue cookies... yes, can I have some chai? Sweet and delicious."

"Well, that's a favor! Big hurry, Munno!

Yes, Takumi replied lightly, adding milk to the small pan again and setting it on fire. You're behind on the Meringue cookie prototype......, it was a takumi that focused on the prototype and loosened the feeling of sticking it up, staring at a pan with milk for two.
