Kael stood at the ocean’s edge, the dark glass vial warm in his palm. Kael uncorks the Abyssal Blood Bait.

Pop.

Kael tilted the vial over the water.

Glug... glug... glug.

The thick crimson liquid poured out in slow, viscous streams. It hit the ocean surface. The bait didn’t dissolve immediately. Instead, it coiled through the water like living smoke—dark red tendrils reaching deeper, spreading wider, sinking into the depths.

Hissss...

The ocean around the shore darkened slightly. The crimson threads multiplied, branching outward, descending deeper into the blue. Within seconds, the bait had spread across a thirty-meter radius. Within a minute, it was beyond sight.

Kael corked the empty vial and pocketed it. Then he waited.

"You there!"

A harsh, cracking voice cut through the sound of waves.

Kael turned. An old man stood on the rocks behind him, fisherman’s clothing patched and salt-stained. His eyes were wide with fury.

"What do you think you’re doing?!" the old man shouted, pointing a trembling finger at the darkened water. "Are you trying to kill us all?!"

Kael shrugged. "I’m hunting the Trenchtooth Leviathan."

The old man’s face went from red to purple. He stormed forward, his bare feet slapping against wet rock—slap-slap-slap—until he was directly in front of Kael.

He looked Kael up and down.

"The Trenchtooth Leviathan?!" the old man sputtered. "You? You’re a child! You haven’t even reached the peak of Foundation Establishment, let alone Mana Heart! That beast is a late Mana Heart sea beast! It’s killed dozens of experienced hunters! It’s dragged entire ships beneath the waves!"

Kael’s expression didn’t change. He turned back toward the ocean.

"You don’t listen, do you?"

The old man kept shouting.

Kael ignored him completely.

Seconds passed. Then a minute.

The ocean changed.

The surface began to ripple. Small bubbles rose and popped.

Bloop... bloop... bloop...

The ripples intensified. The water closest to shore began to churn, foam building along the surface.

Splish-splash... splish-splash...

Then, thirty meters out, the water erupted.

WHOOOOSH!

A massive shape surged toward the shore—but it wasn’t the Leviathan. Multiple shapes. Dozens of them.

Kael’s Spirit Eyes activated, and the System fed him information rapidly.

[Crestback Razors — Foundation Establishment Rank 8 to Peak. Pack predators. 47 detected.]

Crestback Razors. Reptilian sea beasts roughly the size of horses, with serrated dorsal fins and elongated snouts filled with rows of needle teeth. Their hides were a mottled grey-green, and their eyes glowed with dull hunger.

They charged toward the shore in a frenzy. The Abyssal Blood Bait had triggered their feeding response.

The old man’s face went white. He stumbled backward.

"You’ve doomed us all!" he screamed. "DOOMED US ALL!"

Kael raised his hand into the air. He crossed two fingers.

It seems it will take more than just the Abyssal Blood Bait to lure the Trenchtooth Leviathan.

A smirk spread across his face.

Then let’s create a huge feast for it.

"SILENCE."

CRACK-BOOM!

A pillar of lightning descended from the sky with devastating precision. It struck the center of the incoming pack with the force of a small meteor. The air itself split—white-hot energy branching outward in a web of electric arcs.

The Razors in the center never had a chance. Twelve of them vaporized instantly—flesh, bone, and scales reduced to charred fragments that scattered across the churning water. The survivors on the edges of the strike survived but were stunned, their bodies convulsing with residual electricity.

ZZZT... zzzt...

The scent of burnt flesh and ionized air spread across the ocean surface.

And the water went mad.

More sea beasts surfaced. Not just Razors—other species drawn by the blood. The Bait had attracted everything within a fifty-kilometer radius, and now the scent of fresh kills amplified the frenzy.

Over a hundred sea beasts rushed toward the shore. The ocean surface boiled with bodies—grey fins, dark scales, thrashing tails.

Splash-splash-splash! CRASH!

The old man fell from fear. He hit the rocky shore hard.

Thud.

His eyes were frozen on Kael.

"Who... what are you?" he whispered.

Kael didn’t answer. He formed a hand sign.

Around him, hundreds of lightning orbs materialized—small, dense, crackling spheres of compressed electrical energy. They floated in the air like a constellation of dying stars, each one humming with lethal intent.

ZZZT-ZZZT-ZZZT...

The orbs multiplied. Two hundred. Three hundred. The air around Kael became blinding with light.

The old man staggered backward. His entire body trembled.

What have I done? I shouted at... at this master?

Kael stepped off the shore. His Cloak of Flight activated, and he rose into the air, hovering ten meters above the churning ocean surface. Below him, hundreds of sea beasts thrashed and snapped, their bodies colliding in their frenzy.

"LIGHTNING BARRAGE STRIKES."

The orbs launched.

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

The ocean surface detonated. Explosions rippled across a two-hundred-meter stretch of water. Geysers of steam, blood, and seawater erupted into the air. Sea beasts shrieked—SQREEEE!—as lightning tore through their bodies.

The slaughter was absolute. Within seconds, the ocean surface was littered with floating corpses. The survivors—perhaps thirty or forty beasts—turned and fled, diving deep, fleeing the lightning-wielding monster in the sky.

Silence.

The explosions faded. Steam rose from the bloodied water. Kael floated above the carnage, his cloak barely ruffled.

Then the ocean moved differently.

Two enormous presences surfaced simultaneously.

From the left: A enormous crustacean-like creature emerged from the depths. It measured roughly fifteen meters, its body covered in thick crimson shell plates. Massive pincers flanked its maw, and eight articulated legs propelled it forward. Its eyes were clusters of black dots that reflected light like obsidian.

[Mantis Crusher — Mana Heart Rank 7]

From the right: The ocean parted.

WHOOOOSH!

The Trenchtooth Leviathan broke the surface.

It was enormous. Over thirty meters of serpentine body rising from the ocean like a living nightmare. Its scales were a deep, luminescent blue—each one the size of a dinner plate, glowing with inner light. Multiple eyes lined either side of its wedge-shaped head. Its jaw was massive, unhinged, filled with jagged teeth that curved inward. A dorsal fin stretched along its spine.

ROOOOAAAR!

The Leviathan’s roar shook the air. The sound hit the shore like a physical force—windows in the village behind them cracked. CRACK-CRACK.

CRASH!

Its tail whipped the water, sending a twenty-meter wave crashing toward the shore that Kael intercepted with a passive gravity field.

Kael’s Spirit Eyes analyzed both beasts.

[Trenchtooth Leviathan — Mana Heart Rank 8. Serpentine class. Weakness: underbelly scales, junction between head and neck.]

[Mantis Crusher — Mana Heart Rank 7. Crustacean class. Weakness: joints between shell plates.]

Kael smirked.

"Nice. This is going to be fun."

Behind him, on the shore, panic erupted.

The villagers had seen the two massive sea beasts. Screams—AHHH! AHHH!—erupted from the village. People ran. Children cried. Fishermen grabbed makeshift weapons.

The old man didn’t run. He dove behind the largest rock he could find and pressed himself against it.

"Gods help us all," he whispered.

The Leviathan moved first.

Its jaw opened, and from deep within its throat, a concentrated beam of high-pressure water formed—a column of compressed ocean traveling at terrifying speed.

FWOOOOSH!

The beam crossed the distance between them in an instant. Kael activated lightning body.

ZIP!

He vanished. The afterimage he left behind was obliterated—BOOM!—the water beam tearing through the empty space and detonating against the ocean surface a kilometer behind, sending a massive plume of seawater into the sky.

SPLOOSH!

Kael reappeared thirty meters to the right, crackling with residual lightning.

The Mantis Crusher lunged from the other side, its massive pincers snapping—SNAP-SNAP!—aiming to cleave Kael in half.

Kael raised his palm.

"Gravity Push."

WHUUUM!

Invisible force slammed into the Mantis Crusher’s face. The Rank 7 beast’s charge stopped dead. Its legs scraped against the water’s surface—screeee—and it was launched backward, skidding across the ocean like a stone.

SPLASH-splash-splash-splash!

Kael formed a hand sign.

"Dark Summoning."

From the shadow beneath him, two shapes emerged.

The first—the shadow wolf. A massive direwolf made of compressed darkness, its form rippling with primal energy. Rank 6 Mana Heart.

GRRRRRR...

The second—the shadow serpent. A long, sinuous creature of shadow, its body coiling through the air with liquid grace. Rank 7 Mana Heart.

HSSSSSS...

Both summons materialized flanking Kael, their presence pressing against the ocean’s surface.

"Take care of the crusher," Kael ordered.

The wolf howled—AOOOOO!—and launched itself toward the recovering Mantis Crusher. The serpent followed, its body undulating through the air with terrifying speed.

The two summons engaged the Rank 7 beast. The wolf’s jaws clamped around the Crusher’s front pincer—CRACK!—shattering the outer shell. The serpent wrapped around the Crusher’s midsection, constricting.

The Crusher screeched—SCREEEE!—and fought back, but it was two against one.

The shockwaves from the clash rippled outward. Lesser sea beasts that had been circling at the edges immediately fled. The pressure alone—WHUMP-WHUMP-WHUMP—was enough to kill anything below Mana Heart.

Kael watched the summons engage the Crusher, then turned his attention to the open ocean.

The Trenchtooth Leviathan coiled in the water, its twelve amber eyes fixed on him. Its body shifted—thirty meters of predatory muscle preparing to strike.

Kael drew his Shadow Slayer blades.

"Well then," he murmured. "Let’s focus on you."
