Chapter 258: Getting a Spaceship
A few days passed,
INFERNO CORE ADAPTATION: VOID CORE, ORIGIN GRADE
Description: By compressing all shadow/darkness energy into a secondary core in the chest, boosting darkness output by 300% and creating passive darkness absorption from environment, boosting the host’s cultivation speed by four ranks.
Kael sat in his cultivation chamber, absorbing ambient darkness through the Void Core forming in his chest. The process was agonizingly slow—the darkness didn’t want to be compressed. It resisted. But millimeter by millimeter, his comprehension grew.
Kael was surprised. Normally, Aldric’s Inferno Core only boosted his output by 150% and cultivation by 2 ranks. This adaptation exceeds the original by a significant margin.
This is insane.
The system snorted as it said, This is the reason I used your darkness ability as a foundation for the core formation instead of your gravity or lightning abilities. Darkness in itself is a primordial power that has been there even before the creation of the universe. It is the universal canvas, the ultimate end, and the parent of all existence. It is a vast, silent ocean or a "primordial soup" out of which all creation was birthed. Light is just a mere "intrusion" or a temporary disturbance in an eternal, dark quietude. It has no shape, no boundaries, and no end. It is the vast emptiness that encapsulates all of existence, waiting to reclaim everything. Compressing darkness into a core means compressing a fundamental force of reality itself.
"Wow," he murmured. "You sound like a fanatic."
The System snorted.
Kael returned to his cultivation, pushing the Void Core formation another fraction of a percent closer to completion.
Two more weeks passed.
Kael stood in his study, reviewing the final preparations for departure. His body had reached the absolute peak of Tier 4—Void Body Refinement had pushed him to the edge of breakthrough but couldn’t force the final step to breakthrough to Tier 5 yet. That would come later.
Kelvin entered with a stack of reports.
"Pill production is on schedule. Body Essence Pills first batch complete—thirty pills refined. Twenty-three successful, seven failed due to impurity concentration. Soul Nourishment Pills next, then Mana Expansion. I’ve hired three local alchemists to assist—my hands alone aren’t enough for the volume you’ve requested."
"Give some to soldiers first. Then servants. Then surplus for sale."
"Understood."
"The soldiers stationed across all three cities will receive monthly pill distributions. Body Essence Pills for the body cultivators. Soul Necessity Pills for anyone with the Spirit Soul cultivators to improve their soul power and soul sensitivity. The mana pills will be distributed to officers."
Kelvin paused. "Young Master, the Body Essence Pill alone... if word gets out about this recipe..."
"Then don’t let it get out. Control the supply tightly."
"Of course." Kelvin bowed. "Is there anything else?"
"Yes. You’re coming with me to the Vorn Estate. The alchemical facilities there are superior to anything available in our territories. I need you to establish a pill production operation there. Use Sophie’s connections to secure lab space and raw materials. The Starfall City production continues under your assistant’s supervision."
Kelvin’s eyes lit up at the mention of Vorn Estate alchemical facilities. "The Schuyler Family’s network has access to materials we couldn’t dream of obtaining. Young Master, this could elevate our production capacity by—"
"Figure it out. You’re smart enough."
Kelvin bowed deeply. "I won’t disappoint you."
He left. Kael turned to Lira, who stood silently by the door.
"You and Vyra are in charge of all three cities while I’m gone."
Lira’s expression lit up. "Understood, my Lord."
"Aldric handles Greymoor’s military integration. He’s resistant but compliant. The slave mark ensures obedience, but his pride makes him difficult. Push him when necessary, but keep him functional. He’s still a Rank 7 Mana Heart cultivator with decades of combat experience. Don’t waste him. Use him to the fullest."
"Understood."
"Vyra, you will handle military coordination across all territories. You know the soldiers better than anyone. If threats emerge, you have full authority to respond with whatever force she deems necessary. Afterall, I will be leading with Yuki and Gerard."
"Understood."
"I’ll be gone for a long time. A year. Possibly longer." Kael paused. "The Inheritance Ground that the IGF gave the top four academies as reward opens in one month and a week time. I need to be there. That’s my route."
Lira absorbed the information without reaction. "Understood, my Lord. We’ll hold everything together during your absence."
Kael dismissed her and turned to the window. Starfall City sprawled below—a fortress city he’d built from a dumping ground, now thriving. Three cities under his control. Thousands of soldiers in his command. Resources flowing. Enemies eliminated.
"I’ll be back," he murmured. "Make sure everything is intact when I return."
Starfall City had invested in portal gates.
The technology wasn’t cheap, but Sophie’s connections through the Schuyler Family’s shipping network had secured a direct portal link between Starfall City and the Vorn Estate. What would have been a two-week journey now took forty minutes.
Kael stepped through the portal and emerged into familiar territory.
The Vorn Estate.
He made his way through the estate to Sophie’s residence without announcing himself. The servants recognized him and stepped aside.
The woman at the door hesitated. "My Lord, Lady Sophie is not currently present. But she will return in two days."
Kael considered leaving immediately, then sighed.
He would wait.
Two days.
Elena and Nora were in the eastern garden, practicing the Vernal Blossom Body Art he’d given them. Elena’s Precognition was growing sharper, her visions becoming clearer with each cultivation session. Nora’s Soul Sight had matured significantly, her range and precision improving weekly. She had great potential for soul cultivation.
Kael sat on a bench nearby, watching them practice, offering occasional corrections to their stances.
"Your left foot placement is wrong. You’re loading weight incorrectly. Do it again."
Elena adjusted. Nora copied her sister’s correction.
"Again."
They practiced. Kael watched, occasionally offering cryptic advice about body mechanics and energy flow. He was almost gentle with them—the only people in the family he showed anything resembling softness.
Two days later, Sophie arrived.
She entered through the garden gate, elegant in a simple green dress, her storm-cloud eyes finding Kael immediately.
"Kael. I got your message. What do you need?"
Kael turned to face her. "I need a spaceship. Fast and discreet."
Sophie’s eyebrows rose. "A spaceship?"
"I need you to ask Isabella’s mother, Lady Eunice Schuyler. Her shipping network can move anything anywhere without inspection."
Sophie’s mind was already working. "Eunice and I were close once. She’ll help. What class?"
"Fastest available. Military-grade if possible. I’m going far."
"I’ll arrange it." Sophie’s eyes softened with worry. "When will you return?"
"I don’t know. The Inheritance Ground opens in one month, one week. I need to be there before it opens. That’s my route. Vorn Estate, then Guardians base for a final Void Crystal to upgrade my System to level three. Then the IGF training facility—the tournament reward."
"How long?"
"A year. Maybe longer."
Sophie’s expression flickered.
"I’ll arrange the ship. Eunice’s network can have it ready in three days."
Kael nodded. "That’s all I need."
