The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chapter 562 - 558: Chen Jianshe Freeloads a Meal

The second day of the new year is for visiting the wife’s family.

Gu Jiaojiao’s parents were practically out of the picture, so visiting them was out of the question.

And so, the two of them found themselves with nothing to do again.

With time on their hands, they went for a stroll and once again caught wind of some gossip about Yun Hao and Xu Wenwan.

The two had gotten into a fight, a really fierce one. At first, Yun Hao had Xu Wenwan pinned down and was hitting her. Then, somehow, the tables turned and Xu Wenwan was pinning *him* down. She beat him so badly he was left bedridden. Xu Wenwan didn’t get off easy, either. While her injuries were minor, she still took a few of Yun Hao’s punches. The couple hadn’t stepped outside all day.

Later, one of the neighborhood aunties shared some more gossip with Gu Jiaojiao, whispering that Xu Wenwan and Yun Hao weren’t sleeping in the same room.

Gu Jiaojiao was thoroughly enjoying the juicy details. If it hadn’t been time to head home for dinner, she would have stayed to hear more!

Other than the gossip, nothing else happened that day. Before bed, Leng Yuan mentioned that Lu Yuanbin would be coming over on the third day of the new year.

Lu Yuanbin’s parents had both passed away. In previous years, he would always come to spend the New Year with Leng Yuan.

This year, with Gu Jiaojiao and their two children, Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang, around, Lu Yuanbin had felt it would be an imposition to come over.

Sure enough, he arrived early on the third day, riding that same bicycle, now laden with gifts.

When Chen JianShe heard Lu Yuanbin had arrived, he ran over too.

He wasn’t just there to freeload a meal; he genuinely missed Lu Yuanbin.

To show how much he missed him, Chen JianShe had secretly pilfered the bottle of liquor his own father had hidden away on his way to Leng Yuan’s house.

His mother didn’t let his father drink anyway, so he was just helping his dad get rid of it.

He was truly his father’s greatest son.

Bottle in hand, he called out a goodbye to his mother and bolted.

Aunt Chen didn’t even have time to react before the little rascal had vanished.

The little rascal, Chen JianShe, arrived at Leng Yuan’s front door. Before he even stepped inside, an intoxicating aroma of food drilled right into his nose. ’It smells incredible!’

Their lunch that day was a lively affair.

The table, originally set for four, now seated six.

At the entrance to the village, a driver sat in a car. In the back seat were Zhang Tianming and Zhu Wanqi.

The driver drove into the village, then stopped the car to ask for directions.

"Excuse me, ma’am. Do you know the way to the Leng Family’s home?"

An irritable Leng Shuyue was strolling along the side of the road.

Ding Jiangchuan had dumped her in Qingshan Team days ago. She had assumed he would come pick her up once his anger subsided, but her wait had stretched to the third day of the new year.

In past years, Ding Jiangchuan always came to pay a New Year’s visit on the third. But she saw it was already eleven o’clock and he still hadn’t shown up. A sense of panic began to creep in for no reason.

She couldn’t sit still at home, so she decided to go for a walk and wait for Ding Jiangchuan at the same time.

She had only taken a few steps when someone stopped her. Leng Shuyue was about to let loose a string of curses when she saw the car parked behind them.

She immediately clamped her mouth shut.

There weren’t many people in the entire County Town who could afford a car. These were not people she could afford to offend.

Remembering the person’s question, she quickly forced a smile onto her face.

"The Leng Family? There’s only one Leng Family in Qingshan Team—that’s my family. Who are you looking for?"

As Leng Shuyue spoke, her mind raced. ’Could they be looking for Fengshou, Man Cang, and Manyuan?’

’But those three are just apprentices or factory workers. I’ve never heard of them knowing any big shots!’

’Could it be Qiushou?’

’He used to work at the commune; maybe he met someone important.’

Hearing Leng Shuyue, the driver’s attitude warmed considerably. "We’re looking for Comrades Leng Yuan and Gu Jiaojiao."

As the driver said their names, the smile on Leng Shuyue’s face visibly vanished.

"You’re looking for Leng Yuan?"

The driver nodded. "That’s right. And you are, to Comrade Leng Yuan...?"

Leng Shuyue’s eyes darted around for a moment before a brilliant smile spread across her face. "I’m his aunt. His paternal aunt. And who might be in the car?"
