Chapter 557 - 329: Bewildered
The sinister, evil aura and the vile stench were unmistakable. Countless Evil Demons had clearly been suppressed here.
’The Eternal Prison and the Great Virtue Temple both date back to the same era? And Hai Shu was put in charge of the suppression? Great Virtue Temple must be plotting something.’
However, Yang An had no time to ponder the secrets of Great Virtue Temple. He just wanted to take the Bow Lady home.
Following the Bow Lady’s aura, Yang An passed through layer after layer of black fog until he finally saw her figure.
She was wearing a black dress, just like her original self he had seen before, only this one had been stained black by the darkness.
The Bow Lady looked identical to her original self, but she was also missing the crescent-shaped mark.
She sat quietly, leaning against a wall. Her eyes were vacant and lifeless, and she looked utterly desolate.
Yang An walked over to her. He subconsciously reached out to pat her on the shoulder, but his arm passed right through the Bow Lady’s body, touching nothing but air.
Yang An frowned.
’I can’t touch her. This means the Bow Lady I’m seeing is still just part of a memory, not the real one.’
He had guessed that the Bow Lady’s remnant soul was inside Great Virtue Temple, but he still hadn’t managed to find her true location.
Looking at the listless Bow Lady before him, Yang An decided to wait and see what would happen next. Perhaps her true self would soon appear.
Before long, a figure materialized from the black fog, appearing before the Bow Lady.
"You’re from the Central Continent? You must know a lot about it, then."
Yang An watched the newcomer, standing silently beside the Bow Lady to see how things would unfold.
It was Hai Shu. This version of Hai Shu didn’t look much different from the one in reality. He was just as ancient, but his features were filled with a sinister energy.
The Bow Lady didn’t react to Hai Shu’s question at all, as if she hadn’t heard him.
Hai Shu let out a soft chuckle. He didn’t seem to be in a hurry for an answer. He had appeared suddenly, and just as suddenly, he was gone.
But the next moment, countless wraith-like shrieks echoed from all directions. Twisted figures began to approach through the black fog, like beasts drawn to the scent of blood.
In an instant, the spot where the Bow Lady sat was swarmed by innumerable Evil Demons, all of them lunging for her at once.
Yang An immediately understood. The Bow Lady’s time in the Eternal Prison had not been a pleasant memory. This place was meant to suppress a great number of Demon Fiends, but the so-called "suppression" was nothing more than imprisonment. In reality, Hai Shu hadn’t restricted them at all.
Even though he was only an observer, he couldn’t just stand by and watch as the Bow Lady was about to be harmed. He subconsciously unleashed a Technique, trying to protect her.
But it was useless!
His Light Magic, which had always been invincible, was ultimately on a different plane of existence from these Demon Fiends inside the Bow Lady’s Consciousness Realm.
His attacks couldn’t touch these Demon Fiends and evil spirits, nor could he protect the Bow Lady.
The next moment, the Demon Fiends swarmed her. In a flash, they brutally tore the Bow Lady to shreds and devoured her, leaving not even a scrap behind.
’Damn it!’
Yang An stood to the side, his fists clenched so tight the veins on his forehead throbbed.
The Bow Lady had been brutally killed right before his eyes. He knew this was just one of her memories and that he couldn’t interfere, but the rage in his heart was boiling over.
Once the Bow Lady had vanished, the Demon Fiends lost their target and quickly scattered.
But soon after, the Bow Lady’s figure reappeared beside Yang An.
She was still sitting and leaning against the wall, her eyes filled with a dazed expression, as if nothing had happened at all.
"A remnant soul? With no Spiritual Wisdom to speak of?
No matter. You’ll talk one day."
Hai Shu’s voice suddenly echoed from the void, sounding both distant and near, before everything fell silent once more.
